overfert/high pH/nute lockout?

Hello Sandman,

Well- the soil has D.lime at a 1 tbsn/gallon. My runoffs as of late are 6.75-7. That would be expected with the D.lime.

Also, look at the lower growth- no where near the discoloration. Yet these leaves do not pull of easily and they feel cool, moist and pliable. Just a touch of crunchiness at the tips mostly. The lower leaves feel the same way.

Its a phvqv'in mystery to me.

So, barring a high pH to lockout N this leaves soil compaction. The only solution for that is to re-pot (can't up-pot) just over half way through flower. Hmm, seems risky-although carefully done, may solve either problem as I would change the soil. More risk I think at this moment.

Could it be that this strain is a fert hog?

Perhaps I should give her one last nice dose of alaska fish shit with a dose of EJ Bloom with molasses and kelp? Bubbled of course. I was really hoping to just use the guano (3-10-1), ewc, molasses and kelp till a week before harvest.

Superthirve??????

Your thoughts?

Please change this thread to I feel sooo stupid.

Hello all,

I think I may have found the reason behind my N def.

According to conversion tables one tablespoon is approx. 15 cc. Ok kewl, I knew that. I use a syringe(sp) to measure my liquid ferts with.

So, anyway, in my kitchen drawer we have teaspoons (smaller) and tablespoons (bigger)-or so I thought. What I thought was a tablespoon is indeed a teaspoon It took 5 cc of water to fill the spoon with a small meniscus.

So, it would seem I have been using 1/3 of all of my dry ferts including the ewc and the flowering guano (3-10-1).

Hmm, now I know why my N tanked-I was shorting my girls.

What you think?

Well, it never occurred to me to measure what I was told all my life was a tablespoon. Its bigger then the other service spoons.

I feel rather stupid I must say.

SO, should I hit them with a full dose of Alaska fish shit and EJ bloom now that I know what the problem has been witht he ewc/guano/molasses/kelp tea (it was 1/3 strenght except the liquid kelp)?

Or, just brew a stronger batch for the nest time? Which since it has been soo weak I can give it to them next watering.

What are your thoughts?

I have noticed that cold dependant purple tends to happen on top, maybe due to the higher heat (from light) to cool night ratio. If those lower yellow leaves had as much light as the top they might also be purp...As I looked thru the thread I got a sense of it being a general underfert condition...glad you got your measurement sorted out! IMO once you give them thier full dose they should be better, but the color situation prob won't change much. If the pistils weren't white I'd say they look purdy, and done.

Hello,

Do you think a 10*F difference could be the cause-could be genetic but purpling in a severe N def. is a symptom.

As you pointed out, the proximity to the light (in terms of intesity/and heat-250w hps) could be a factor. The light is in a cool hood with glass. Fans bowing across the tops/bottom of glass. Right now my temps are 81.3 on digital but that can vary a degree either way(I hoping down). The radiant heat could be a factor but I have grow this way before and its not been an issue. Anyway, that could explain this happening on the top. It does happen on the buds just below the top buds-but only slight symptoms.

I have also noticed that the plant has focused its primary attention to the what would be the top bud (LST'ed) and all the plant material on it is just fine-must be a protection reaction of the plant. I hope they don't herm dare I say it.

I have trimmed the lower popcorm buds tonight-it almost felt sacreligious but they are draining energy needed elsewhere. I am putting alot of faith in the "trim the popcorn" theory in LST grow method.

Anyway, do you think after trimming a full dose of fish and ej bloom/liquid kelp would be to much ferts at first?

I must say good night as I am really to stoned and I must review what I have written.

yeah,, i'd say if your measurements were wrong all this time, an they've been getting 1/3 strength nutes that they'd react just fine to a full strength dose,,, hope this works for ya minds_I

This late in flowering, I'd only give them a half strength dose of N so that it doesn't cause elongation of the remaining buds. You should be fine giving them a healthy dose of the other nutes tho.
