What up everyone!!!!! The waether is getting good its almost time to planfffffft for outdoor season! I just bought my 12 clones to go out for the summer. I'm vegging them indoors for atleast a month. Then transplanting outside around 4/20. Ill have supplement lighting to make sure they don't go into bud.all 12 plants will be planted in a 20 ft x20ft x 4 ft deep hole. The entire whole is covered with cyclone fencing to make it a scrog ......what do you guys think??? Pictures are coming soon I just can't post off my phones.... the screen is not done yet. But all 12 post are cemented in the ground already with cross supports. All we have to do is lay the fencing across the top and tie it down.....

Any suggestions or support would be greatly appreciated. Smoke on everuone and enjoy your night!

How tall is the fencing going to be? If its too low it will be a bitch to work on. Too high, and it's kind of losing its usefulness. How come you don't just grow big bushes like the rest of us do?

4 ft is the height from the ground to the fencing....... my plan is to grow giant bushes! Its just that I got jacked last year for half my crop so the fence is basicly a saftey device but also a screen of green. So now people can't pull the plants out of the ground and take half my crop. I figured might as well secure the place and make ascrog.....

Good idea or bad......I'm pretty sure its good....input greatly appreciated

G`day Caliprop

I hear you regards ripper access .
Trouble is 20 ft x 20 ft how are you going to reach the centre ? Crawl under every time you want to trim the lowers section, water , or actually work the plants into the mesh ?
Maybe cages would be a better option ?

I would suggest, based on personal experience, to use cages instead. Unless you plan to build a light dep over the whole thing and keep the plants less than 6 or so feet tall it will quickly become unmanageable. And you will not be able to properly manage the plants with only knee and belly access.

Cages with lots of bamboo poles and lots of trellis makes it damn near impossible for a thief to take too much, add a good dog and a sleeping bag and you should be good.

I agree as a greenhouse grower, you need to get in and around your girls to keep them happy. 20 x 20 with 4 foot headroom would be hard late in the season.

Get a dog and a gun!

Better check your local laws first .... Cause a gun can turn a legal MMJ -op into an illegal op ....quick

No trespassing signs, beware of dog signs around the property .... And leave the dog/s out to roam I got an APBT ... He sits in the window all day and scares the fuck out of people without barking ... He barks .. They run!

But for me I'll set up a tent on my deck w my machete ... String strong test fishing line around my fully fenced yard w bells on the fishing line to alert me if anyone climbs over .... Motion sensor lights w green bulbs ... Plus the pit

caliprop215 .... Rather than one large SCRoG grid why not make 4 smaller grids within roughly the same space so you can have 3 plants per grid and that gives you a 1' path in-between the grids to access all grids easily .....

Plus .... W separate grids you can do side by side experiments to get the most out and make next years better .... If you do the grid w paths I suggest you sink a couple cement blocks (4" left above ground) and place planks across so your not compacting the soil ... That's how my raised coco bed in my greenhouse will be set up .

Your idea sounds solid .... But these guys are right .... The middle section of a 20x20 scrog will be neglected and suffer some .... Plus you won't be able to inspect for incest/pm/mold damage in that area

Yes. Thiefs are a huge problem in my area. A bunch of underage twweks on meth.
To reach the center of the sscreen I have intalled a 4 ft by 4 ft gate so I can get under the screen and do whatever I need to do. I think I would only have to crawl around on my knees for about 1-2 hours per week. To trim undergrowth and dead leaves.
Watering is easily done. Turn the hose on for 30 minutes flood bottom 4 inches of hole then turn the hose off. Should work as it did last year.

I agree with you 100 percent. Cali is awesome for weather but most people srent good people and sorry I have to say that because I love cali I lived here forever. But sadly I have met a lot more bad people then good.

And I have dogs and guns and people knew last year. Still didn't stop them

the poles re set with concrete. Its a done deal that the screen is going up to make the scrog ...I plan to have tarps over the top then put a light up under the screen so they won't flower untill I want them to. I want the to just have nugs above the screen so 6-8 feet high hopfully and if not they will be shorter so the rippers can't get under the screen

I think it would be harder earlier on in the season ....not later on after I trim all the lower stiff off there will be nothing under the screen sounderneath should be clean.

I plan to do all those things ....and what kind of dog do you have? I got a 120 dog protecting my stuff butor lst year he wasn't out for one night and that night I got jacked.ill be 100x more on my guard this year !

Poles are set for the screen so I can't change it up now. I would love to do side by side expieriments I might this year but only topping or lst or fiming and maybe super cropping.
I believe if I go under the screen for 2 hours a week that every single plant will be tended to so hopefully not one plant will be neglected.

Thanks everyone for all your input. Smoke on my friends and have a good night!

If you do 12 plants in that space and intend to plant in April I think they will get way outta control and get too big for you. I would take fresh cuttings off your best plants and plant later. And start topping and training right away after planting.

However you do it, I look forward to seeing it in action though.

You will yield more and of better quality if you dont do the scrog, indoor and outdoor growing are two totally different beasts. outdoor plants need space, to scrog will give you nothing but headaches. See, when you ask for peoples input and they all tell you its a bad idea and you go on to say youre going to do it anyway all I can say is you will learn the hard way. good luck.

That is the plan! I hope the plants get too big for me. That's why I started the plants now so when I put them in the ground around 420 they will be over a foot tall which should give me atleast one lb per plant if not more! I'm hoping for 3 out of each but that's high hopes

See I agree... the fencing is mainly for protectoin from thieves. And if they plants grow up to the screen then they will just intertwine themselves inthe fence. I don't really think I plant to guiude the plants throughout the whole screen

I guess I should have brought it up for everyones opinions before I sunk the poles in concrete.

So now what do I do everyone? Just let the plants grow thru the screen and grow upward?

Or do you guys think I should do the scrog? Weave the plants throughout screen and remove all bottom stuff

.................

If the buds grow through the screen its like you are making it easier for rippers, I don't get it. 4 ft is not enough height. You should make a cage that encloses it completely if you don't want to get jacked. Your idea of security makes no sense.

If the buds grow thru the fence then the rippers can only pluck off nugs. They can't get to the base of plant to pull the entire thing. And whille they are trying to pluck nugs my dogs will be there tearing them a new one. Plus the rippers have to get by 2 fences before they even see plants. I think it will be prett secure

Can you post a pic? Not understanding how you are going to do this with 4 foot of height. I think you will have lots of trouble keeping the girls mold and bug free at the end of the season. Are you planning on light dep, or natural flowering?
