Tutorial Organics for Beginners

It's the stuff the microbes excrete that feed the plant. If we used Maxicrop, blood, bone, guano, etc. without any microherd, the plant would starve. Bacteria guano is what we're after in organic growing.

Right! Thanks for the help. I'm reading Teaming w/ Microbes so i'm starting to get an understanding. I'm going to put some clones into LC's#2 mix. Do i still add dolomite lime? I have some already mixed and wet w/ LK and has been turned and moistened for 2 weeks but didn't know if the d. lime would burn/have ill effects.

Here is a picture of a 3.5 week old plant that is in LC's mix #1. She has been fed a weak dosage of veg guano tea. (1 tsp per gallon of each guano, then after i figured that was too much I'm doing 1/4 tsp per 2 cups of water) I'm starting to see a little yellowing on my leaves, so I'm doing a flush and skipping some feedings anyways to bring nitrogen levels down for the cloning.

Hey burn any tips for keeping mums in LC's mix#1? I wonder if the calcium carbonate will be used up by a certain time, or of I should add more EWC to the soil.

Follow the directions! If you don't, it won't work.

I use LC's Mix with Recipe #1 for mothers. It's good for at least six months. Maybe longer.

Hey guys...this is a great thread!!
Im new to this organic thing but im already in love...im just a little confused about the dressing in my recipe. I follow Growdocs method and i know the dressing is supposed to be used for flowering. My question is when to apply it? Im startin this grow @ 12/12 and im not sure if i should add it right away or wait until the plants have at least shown their gender?

heres the mix im using:
Growdoc’s soil mix:
Per 100 liters/2 bags
60 gram seaweed meal
60 gram bone meal
120 gram blood meal
80 gram Guano Peru
20 gram trace element
40 gram lime/kalk
3 liter worm casting
12 liter Perlite

here is my Dressing:

slow growth???

slow growth???

I got a couple babies that seem to be growing pretty slow, although early in their lives they had some problems, they have overcame those and have turned very green but seem to be growing slow.

the mix I'm using is very similar to the LC mixes, but i used some roots organic soil mix as the base and added some perlite, peat, ewc, low portions lime, bone & blood meal into the mix to expand it some. Like I said, the plants are very green but seem to be growing slow under the 1000w MH.

what I was wondering is If I add guano's & kelp in with the tea if thats going to help stimulate them? the lights on temps are in a the 72-76ish range with lights off being in the high 70's. I'm also running a 18/6 cycle and been doing so since about the second week of february & the plants are only about 6-7in tall with around 5-6 nodes. I also recently moved them into 1 gallon pots of the mix they will flower in(the one above) and have a feeling now they have some room to stretch there feet they are going to take off, but any advice on the guano's and kelp would be great. would it be best to water with a ewc, blackstrap, lk, guano & kelp tea every 3rd watering and a foliar spray of kelp every so often? thanks.

It sounds like they're starving. Feed them. There's a recipe in the BEGINNERS sticky.

Hey everybody. i just mixed up LCs #2 and Im going to use nute recipe #5. Do I need to let the mix cure up for a week or two before planting? Im thinking maybe not since theres no blood or bone in it, thanks in advance.

Holy schnikies. I'm so glad I found this thread. I powered through all 65 pages over the last couple of days, and fortunately I began that journey the night before my big trip to the hydro store. I immediately decided to change to Mix #2 with Recipe #1, and picked up the rest of what I needed at the shop the next day. "Set it and forget it". I HEART THIS RECIPE! Tomorrow night I will be mixing it up, and starting my seeds. I can hardly wait! Thank you for making my life a lot easier B1! Sorry for the run-on paragraph, all the web proxes seem delete all line breaks when I post on icmag. :(

Make sure you read BurnOnes direction's closely.

THat mix with the nutes in it will be to Hot for seed, clones.

Mix up enough LCmix for your grow JUST THE MIX take out what you need to start ur seed's(1 16 oz. plastic cup per seed) and start ur seed's in that.

What you have left add your nutes to this' LIGHTLY water this mix and keep it turned, in a couple of weeks or so ur baby's will be ready for their food.
good luck

PLEASE follow the directions posted exactly and you will be blessed with some nice buds I WAS (thanks burn)

Nope. You can use the mix and the fish right away.
For a boost, bubble some worm castings and molasses overnight. Pour in your fish and use it right away.

Thanks for your help. Your contributions to this site have made the complexities of organic gardening much less intimidating for me. I need to get an airstone so I can make a proper tea as described. I live on a small caribbean island so certain items can be difficult to obtain.

I was curious if the LCs #2 with the #5 nute recipe would do well for vegetables and herbs (basil, peppers, tomatoes etc), or is the mix overkill?

Hey burn I'm trying to root some clones. I've read that weak bloom nutes are used to stimulate rooting. Would the bloom recipes for guano tea work for this? or anything that you can recommend to me that would use the same ingredients for the teas? ( liquid karma, maxi crop, molasses) I don't have a high P guano at the moment. Thanks. check out my pics

Seaweed or kelp meal helps rooting. Phosphorous helps as well but putting fresh cuttings in a hot mix isn't good.
Everyone should make themselves a bubble cloner. I have never had such success with cloning until I used one. Transplant into a small nursery pot of LC's mix when the roots are about 1/2 inch long. Water with Maxicrop as directed and you'll be ready to transplant in a few days.

hey burn. i got a mum in LC's mix #1. I stopped feeding her for a week to take clones and now she's is just being watered. I figured that I don't really need her to grow anymore, why feed? Is there any side effects of stopped feeding? I noticed she doesn't smell as potent as before for one. I don't want to run into any deficiency. thanks man, If I could send you a nugget over the internet I would. -Fresh
