Productive day on the grow front--watered with calcium carbonate, mag sulfate and powdered alfalfa and hops. I then took an Afghani clone, topped my two vegging Ice Cream moms and started two more clones, and sowed a Western Winds. Let the next chapter begin! I have so much Ice Cream bud that I really want to grow other stuff now! Maybe I'll sow a NYPD bean too.
The Satori is kicking my butt. I rolled a little joint a few days ago and taking 3-4 good puffs gets me really, really high! Hopefully I can finish it before Monday! LOL
Thanks, I'm at the point where I no longer harvest plants by age and just harvest when they are ready. The great thing about organic coco/soil is that I barely need to feed; just water and the occasional hit of calcium carbonate/epsom salts and maybe something special once in a blue if I think they need it!
Well, the NYPD hasn't sprouted yet either. I may have to put a layer of coco on top of the seed starting mix and try again since it may be the seed starting mix that is preventing my seeds from germinating, even with good temperatures and H2O2 watered in.
The Afghani is just a huge bush and I've had to defoliate since it had fans resting on buds to be. Looks like the yield will be very impressive, and the only leaves that are yellowing out are the lowest ones. In my last several cycles, I had yellowing leaves all over at this stage because of low Mg. I've definitely solved that issue; my girls are all the picture of health, and very green too.
Don't you hate the way you kind of lose a little wind out of your sails when a seed doesn't sprout? Its only been a few days, it may yet. Don't give up on it.
Yup, I'm always a little saddened by the thought of the life that coulda been (and wasn't). I'll give the NYPD another few days, and then top it all off with coco and hit it with H2O2 again before sowing new seeds (if the existing beans don't germ).
My Durga Mata was successfully germed in coco, but didn't have any nutrition in there, so it wasn't very vigorous until I transplanted it into the Smartpot and topped it down to the third node. It's now doing very well indeed. I really need to clone her! I need to clone the Satori too, but she appears to want to grow single cola style, and isn't giving me any branchiness to work with. I may just have to reveg her after harvest.
Clones are just so much less of a PITA.
The Afghani is about three feet tall and extremely wide--maybe wider than it is tall. I think a qp is a possibility for sure!
I had a few Ice Cream clones that were rearing to go, so I transplanted two into the remaining slots in the tent. I also ran H2O2 through the seed starting mix, and I'll hit it with boiling water tomorrow. It appears the seeds that I was trying to germ all got attacked by mold, even with the H2O2 in the mix.
I have three NYPDs soaking in a cup of water; let's see if they crack in pure water.
I have an Ice Cream in the corner of the tent that is covered in red pistils. It seems LED really helps plants mature faster vs HPS, although plants need to be right under the LED (like the Afghani) to really flourish. The Afghani is the best smelling pot I've ever grown; sweet and fruity and full. I'm really looking forward to harvest time on that baby!
I may shut down after I harvest the existing plants in the tent; I have more pot than I need for the next few years!
Harvested the Ice Cream today; small yield of maybe 10g dry, but it looks great. Hoping those NYPDs sprout as I have a space in the tent now, and would like to put something new in until the Afghani is done (maybe 3-4 weeks).
I have to keep removing leaves that are growing into other colas...trying to avoid mold later in flowering. She's about four weeks in; four to go, but I think she'll be done in three because of the LED. She smells like sweet children's chewable vitamins if that makes sense...with some interesting citrus. I REALLY like the way she smells and I bet she'll be great smoke.
She gets a little leaf curl when the pot dries out; I think this causes a pH swing that causes more N to be available. She just needs water now to get through flowering, and maybe a little cal and mag. I'm heading out of town (yes, again) so she got a thorough watering and eight Blumat Jr knockoffs (two per container, in case one fails). Hopefully she isn't dying by the time I get back! I may add another couple of containers of water and a few more Blumats as she is seriously thirsty.
Interesting tidbit about the ph and nitrogen. A similar thing happened that let me know I was getting my input ph right. The fans greened up immensely and the buds got a bit foxtailed. N was becoming available again.
No pics of the Durga Mata yet, since she's still in early flowering, but she's very wide, and has that good shiva FUNK that I love so much. I grew some DM several years ago and it smells exactly the same. Paradise says Durga Mata's a very uniform strain; that definitely appears to be true. Hopefully the clone I took roots. I seem to be indica obsessed.
