Organic Mixes?

Hey everybody,

I am just finishing up my first grow of K2 and want to try them again, but go with organics this time, so far I have picked up 10lbs worm castings, 2.2lb peruvian sea bird guano and 2.2lb jamacian bat guano. What mix should I use with these and would a soil available at lowes or homedepot work instead of pro-mix? Sorry for all the questions on my first post  Grow On.

What i would do!

What i would do!

Hey Bro and Welcome to Cannagraphic!

well this is what I would do ...but but not nescessarily what anyone else would!

Firstly ....Make a mix of 40% Perlite....40%Compost...20% Topsoil with a cupful of worm castings in each pot ...now this is based on me using a 12" pot........
Veg on these ........then usually i would go a size or 2 bigger to ropot em 2 weeks before the 12/12 period as this will giive the girls time to recover!

make the same mix for the larger Pot to put the Girls into the 12/12 cycle.

But remembering to add the Fert...ie Bat guana ....use one or the other......im not sure what form you have the guana in ...powdered or the raw material...!
so i cant comment on the doseage...but Less is Best!
The reason iTransplant is to give the roots a break...get some air down there .......and i spray the root ball with a mix of nytrozyme and epsom salts in water,to encourage root growth.
Use Lime to act as your ph Buffer .....and remember it dont damage plants when you practice Making your Mix...Better safe than Sorry...
Peace!

Compost?

Compost?

When you say compost, what do you mean? I have read about using pro-mix, but I can't find any locally and don't really want to spend 20 bucks to have it shipped to me. Will the soil like "sam's continuos feeding" work? I know BOG uses it, but not guano's or worm castings. BTW, the guanos are the pure in bags. I was reading on OG about it, but can't find any really good info. Thanks for your help!

Hey Boomtown:

You should be able to find pro-mix at home depot. That's where I get mine. It is usually outside in the garden center near the mulch/top soil/etc.

Hello BoomTownGrower, if you want to grow organic go with Fox Farm's Light Warrior. If you want yummy nugs that have a wonderful taste. This is it.

Light Warrior is an agroponic growing medium with a kick. Incorporating mycorrhizal fungi and other biological catalysts, Light Warrior is designed to enhance root development and encourage greater nutrient uptake. An organic blend of perlite and peat moss, it is excellent for both soil and hydroponic gardening. Then you can make an organic tea with the other things you have. Soma have a great recipe. I will find it and post it here in the thread.

work it- grow it - then smoke it.

Take Care,
WB

Hunt for soil

Hunt for soil

Whats up Boomtown!!
I also have had a hard time finding good soil....

You should call around to local nursuries. Alot of them carry Pro Mix or better soil than at the Depot.
Just my 2c.

hello i like the pro mix but if you cant find it you can use your own soil mix ...grab some spaghnum peat and some coir bricks ..or any store purchased soil ... just dont mix in 2 much guanos if you use a mix thats pre ferted...also if the mix contains peat you will need lime in the mix...

take care

Ive looked at home depot and lowe's, the only soil Ive seen close to pro mix is some stuff called professional growers mix ready to use made by a company called Sta-green or something like that. Is this the same? I use Fertilome's Ultimate Potting Mix because its easier to come by in my area.
