ICMag with help from Landrace Warden and The Vault is running a NEW contest in November! You can check it here.
Prizes are seeds & forum premium access. Come join in!
going to be giving these the run next.
will plant them in soil, cut clones and root them and then straight to my new Aquamists I's.
Will flower the clones at 6-8" so they end up about 12-16".
Gonna be a bunch of 1oz buds of some nice O.D. here soon!
yummy, I cant wait.
This looks like an awesome strain Verite! Incredible structure... thick stems with colas that have an amazing calyx to leaf ratio... looks like this strain explodes with buds and can support it! The taste sounds awesome... like a mechanics dream.. grease and gojo.
I was fortunate enough to win a pack from your most recent auction... they got grabbed up quick!
I am posting because the plants that you personally grew had huge colas.
I would be happy with colas half as fat as the ones on your mother plants and I would like some suggestions for raising beautiful Orange Diesel plants.
Generally: What conditions did you grow them under?
1.What kind of soilmix?
2.What kind of lighting and wattage?
3.What did you feed them and what intervals?
I know that results can vary but any feedback on your growing conditions would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Verite - I saw your post on how you grow in your Holy Grail thread (it is post #38 and #43 in the Intro to Holy Grail thread for anyone else who is interested). I guess sticking with organics in a fairly sterile soil environment really pays off. There are a couple of more details I was concerned with for making my plants look as good as yours.
What kind of intervals do you use to feed your plants.. i.e. what is your feeding schedule like?
Is there a 'sweet spot' of nutrient concentration that you like to maintain?
How do you know when to add more nutes... do you use visual indicators (plant color, etc) or do you have a feeding schedule and you just use a PPM meter and adjust pH?
Or is it something else?
I believe you mentioned in a previous post you like soil pH to be at 5.6-5.8.
Does Orange Diesel prefer to be a little on the underfed side like Holy Grail?
I guess there aren't any "tricks" to it... just grower experience but any input for growing good OD plants is welcome!
BTW.. I really appreciate the fact that you make 15 seeds available per pack as opposed to the typical 10 seeds of most breeders.
Thanks for the interest. While I was getting dialed in the measurements I stuck with were ph levels around 6.2-6.4 I used to feed regularly on a every other watering schedule and sometimes would experience some of them getting fan leaves that got the yellowing tips which tells me thats the first signs of too much ferts. So when I catched that I'de go to every third watering. Now I dont seem to remember the days I fert as much as remember the days I dont.
Now I tend to read the plant more to let me know when it is time to fert. After getting used to their daily look you start to see the subtle changes from day to day. The OD I would consider a regular feeder, probably wont need much change up in the fert schedule.
The 15 seeds thing stems from past frustrations with other strains/vendors. More times than I can count I would be halfway thru growing a new strain and commented how much better it would have turned out if I only had 5 more seeds. 50% better chance to work the m/f/germ ratio, get a decent female, or better yet that killer male.
would orange diesal grow well in a SOG method, I am using a rotating garden and can only grow strains that will not stretch too much and be put into flower right away, I can only allow a clone to veg for 1 week after it takes root and then fire it on the rotating garden, just wonder if Orange diesal would be right for me?????
man I was thinking, take a really high orange smellin orange diesal and cross it with the most lemony lemon stinky and make a real nice citrus blend, hey theres the name for it, citrus blend!! I like it.
I have a question for all of you that have had the opportunity to smoke Orange Diesel. I was curious about the kind of high that it produced. People have posted that not only does OD have a delicious flavor, it also "packs a punch". From the genetics, it seems to be a nice blend of Sativa and Indica. I wanted to know:
What is OD's high like ? Does the high have a Sativa or Indica dominant characteristics.. or is it a nice blend between the two?
From what I have heard... Cali-O is moderately potent, Skunk #1 is potent and NYCD has mixed reviews. How potent is OD? Do you need a lot to get high? What kind of ceiling does it have? Is it a kind of smoke that will leave you high for hours? Verite said that OD has a bit more potency than its parents so I would expect a pretty decent high from OD.
The kind of high is just one aspect to consider when choosing a strain to grow. The beautiful pictures of the structure of the OD plants and the harvested colas sold the strain to me. Any feedback from others who have tried this strain and would like to give an opinion as to the high would be appreciated.
It's potent. I'm not going to contend that it will match the most potent elite cuts out there, but it's way up there in potency. The hightype is going to depend on the phenotype expressed, but the one I sampled seemed typical for the Orange Diesel and was very sativa-leaning. Great high.
I don't think you can go wrong with this one, jimbroker.
Ive been selecting the more orangy smelling females and the healthy males that most match their growth and leaf structure. I think the orange side is more potent and fragrant.
Im really glad you have 15 seeds in each bag cause it should really help us find the keepers. Thanks for the heads-up, ill be looking for an orange goddess.
