I have type 1 herpes. You know, the kind where you get cold sores every so often. Its not genital herpes. Thats type 2.

I was wondering, if I didn't have any cold sores, if I would transmit any form of herpes to a girl if I gave her oral sex.

Also, lets say I did have a cold sore, and I gave a girl oral sex. How would that transmit to the girl? Would it be type 1 or 2? I'm kinda lost on this...

The type of herpes that gives you cold sores does not live well in the genital area. You can have oral sex with your girl no problem. Most people have the oral type herpes but do not show symptoms. 80% of the adults in the united states have the cold sore herpes. Remember birth control!

No sproutco, that isn't true because I know someone who told me he let a girl give him head and a few days later he had a bump on his dick and it turned out to be herpes. He told me she had bumps on her mouth but he didn't think nothing of it.

You can still transmit the virus even if you can't see it but the probability is higher when you are about to get symptoms, during, and right after.

I would advise you to try to keep the virus at bay by putting some burt's bees lip balm because it contains chemicals that have been shown to inhibit and kill the herpes virus like coconut oil and peppermint oil.

Also, regardless of the fact that you have type 1 herpes, you shouldn't go down on someone if you are not very sure that they are clean or you know their status. You can only get 2 STDs from giving oral to a woman. One is herpes. I forget what the other one is, but I think you'd be able to see that one too...I know its a rare STD.

Women on the other hand can get a few more STDs from giving us a BJ.

If she looks clean, and you aren't showing any symptoms of a blister, then ur good to go IMO.

I hope I was tested for that when I was tested clean... becuase I seem to remember my ex girlfriend getting tested awhile back and had some abnormality on the pap smear. Women get a lot of false indications on herpes tests for some reasons. I don't know enough about medicine to say why. My daughter had tested positive in the past for herpes, but has never had an outbreak, and according to her, she always uses condoms. For instance hiv isn't easily transmitted BUT how do you know that someone doesn't have a bleeding gum or bleeding tongue in their mouth. It just has to be very small.

Also, when someone has oral sex if you do deepthroat or is being given deepthroat, your chances of getting an std is higher due to std'd living in the high mucous membranes of the throat.

Rosycheeks, I know it sounds like a lot but it really isn't. It's just that most people view sex as a small thing but if that's how you feel, do your thing. I know when I found out that I could have risked my life for a nut, I never wanted that feeling again and so I decided to learn how to have sex, the BEST and SAFEST way possible.
