Opinions on bottled " terpenes" and their use in legal markets

Hey, I have noticed that there hasnt been much discussion about said topic. I'll start with my opinion of course...

Imo, these are poison and should not be sprayed on anything for commercial sale. Same stuff that caused EVALI in the carts is now being sprayed on flower?!!??

Nothing should be sprayed on cannabis. Grown, properly dried and cured. I'd rather have it a little bland than sprayed with a chemical cocktail.

I will not buy dispensary bud here in Canada because of this. Most if not all commercial supplkhere use it.

Opinions.....

Wouldn't be that familiar with said product..

Is the quality of dispensarys really that bad they have to spray the flower with plastic terpenes, wtf...

Is it easy to identify the sprayed flower?( fake terps 😆) You would think there would be certain legal issues with it..

I would be more inclined to try it out on my cheesy fries..

I found that it gummed up my scissors real bad with every joint cut up. My homegrown doesn't do this, and it is very good.

And weed should not smell like bakery goods or fruity candies. It should smell like weed!

Well that depends on the strain doesn't it ? I love me some fruity strains

the only canadian weed I had was imported as medicinal I'm pretty sure they're not allowed to spray shit on that, but who knows...
Kevin McKernan has been fact checking the labs that certify the bud as being clean - no yeast mold or fungus. growers are using labs that are not as "robust" in their analysis to get their product to market. he has shown which labs are gaining customers and how "clean" the bud turns out to be. all about the $$$$$, as always.

This is why I'm so glad I grow my own!!! While I'm sure the legal states here in the US test for various molds, pesticides, etc., I'm almost positive they don't check for the addition of terpenes.

I would not want vaporized, artificial terpenes anywhere near my lung tissue.🤮

Do they have to list added terpenes on the label in Canada?

Here in Oregon, unless they're marijuana derived terpenes they would be considered "added substances" and have to be on the label. Since adding marijuana derived terpenes makes no sense from a financial standpoint due to cost, it's not likely you'll find any adulterated cannabis flower product in Oregon. I don't know about other legal states.

(1) “Added substance” means any component or ingredient added to marijuana, usable marijuana, a cannabinoid concentrate, a cannabinoid extract, a cannabinoid product, industrial hemp, or a hemp item during or after processing that is present in the final cannabinoid product, including but not limited to flavors, non-marijuana derived terpenes, and any substances used to change the viscosity or consistency of the cannabinoid product.

Yes they test for mold... but the suppliers can remediate it again and again until it passes testing (in Michigan anyway). I generally avoid dispo weed like the Plague. Though I did grab an oz of some really nice SSH before Christmas, recommended to me by a friend. I was very happy with that stuff. The first "Piffy" SSH I have ever tried, and honestly it's almost Piffier than the Piff. Fantastic daytime high, pretty well grown too. And I got an oz for like $65.

I think the terps shedding of real weed in a vaporizer are a lung cleaner. I’m growing some AK-47 just for that.

I saw “Lung cleaner” advertised the other day. Scroll to see the before and after pics.

Is that Steve Martin?

I did also find mould in an oz. Of strawberry amnesia. They were big buds and in the center near the stem was dead plant material and grey fuzz

Botrytis! Tossed the whole oz. Maybe they shouldn't put boost packs in there. I cure in cvaults with no boveda.

Bud is almost a year old and still tasty. I am getting low tho, I didnt grow this winter because of health issues. heres some fresh bud pix...

I was listening to Heavy Days show "Not in My Bag" and they were discussing people buying 30 dollar pounds and spraying them down with "terps" and creating a cannabis brand. From what they said it's big business in NYC. That's just nasty stuff.

sprayed with terps? are you just making this up based upon your own incredulity?

or is it the wild west up there?

it sounds like a joke, or one of those classics... 'they sold me weed laced with pcp!'

No it's definitely a thing now. Hugely popular in NY, for some reason. It's also pretty common for pre-rolls from dispo's across the country. But people are generally pretty stupid, and hype rules all these days. So it sells.

Say it as it is ;)
I'm surprised he is tolerated. Nothing but toxic BS, insulting everyone who isn't him, and dude will not ever respond. Not ever, I have tried engaging him. Just does his little drive by posts, lumping everyone who isn't him into the "pothead" category as if that's a bad thing in and of itself.

Dude contributes nothing, and it's sad because I think he "could" if he weren't such a toxic personality.
