Could be Guttation, which is basically xylem sap which exudes from special leaf bracts via root pressure. This contains mostly sugars, carbohydrates and minerals, which is why it would taste sweet.
That is what it is and I have seen it a few times myself.

What is guttation in simple terms?
Guttation is the loss of water in the form of water droplets from hydathodes (small pores) on the leaf margin of a small herbaceous plant. Guttation is not to be confused with dew, which condenses from the atmosphere onto the plant surface.
