OMG you NEED to DITCH your synthetic nutrients

Hellow fellow ICMAGERs,

Just wanted to say that after 20 years of growing and trying out pretty much all the synthetic nutrients out there (AN,HnG,GH,GP,FN,Jacks,Ionic, etc) I am now turning toward organics because my last run with Pure blend pro (which is not completely organic) made my regular strains taste like something totally new and improved like 1000% better. It was like I was smoking a different strain that finally has a strong taste that lingered. Anyways, just a word of advice, ditch your synthetics cause you have no idea what you are missing. Makes me regret using synthetics for all the 100s of seeds and dozens of strain I have tried in my lifetime. I could have fell on something amazing but the synthetics ruined it all :(
Don't believe me, just try it and you will see, I aint no fake ass lying mofo.
My next side by side will be 100% organic using amendements and feeding water only to see if it rivals with the pure blend pro.

After 9 years of pure organics in my outside grow and constantly shrinking Harvests and worsening soil conditions caused by copious amount of high PH water despite my increasing use of Sulfur Dusting I chose this past summer to do a direct chemical intervention.
Why did I wait so damn long? LOL Wow is all I can say. Ammonium Sulfate worked instantly to pull soil PH back down into a PH range the plants are far more happy with. Worms all seemed present and accounted for when I changed plants.
I'm old and broken and just dragging the hose around this large yard can take an hour per day in Summer to keep things from looking like they got flamed. 8.5 PH hose water it must be.
1 tablespoon of Sulfur dust 4 times a year as I change plants and amend soil is obviously way to little. I'll go to 4 tablespoons and keep and eye on things. Until full summer soil temps microbe activity will remain low even here so I'll continue using the Sulfate for the Mid March and June 1st sets. That will get 2 more Sulfur dustings before Summer rolls around and high soil temps will put the microbes into high gear making droplets of Sulfuric Acid from Sulfur Dust.

My favorite is when salt growers/smokers start throwing the word "gas" around. Always smells like offgasing plastics with added vanilla banana shoe spray cover up perfume or some shit, never like fuely cannabis volatiles.

I won't smoke weed with anyone under the age of 60 because there's a huge chance they think weed is supposed to smell like hospitals and ebay stores instead of weed.

Los Angeles cannabis grower: My favorite terp is fake Air Jordans

Me: That've been worn for 30 years without being taken off? Nice.

Los Angeles cannabis grower: No, brand new, unworn, gassy.

Me: "No thanks I have asthma"

LOL. Same. LA basin, outside, backyard grower for 40 + years. Actually OG. (Ocean Grown) for the last 10. I qualify by a bit short of a decade to toke with. Dry Ice Kief in pipe on the table. Help yourself. Kief Edible oil Capsules in the dish are 75mg and you might want to start with a quarter of one.
Thankfully i don't have a lot of contact with the younger crowd. 2 tokes off the Kief pipe and they pass out. Not much use as a conversationalist after that.

Well... I too am switching from refined mineral salts (there's nothing synthetic about elements bound in salt form lol) to 100% organic, but I don't have the same complaints ya'll do. lol

Yes, 100% rabbit manure has made a dramatic transformation in the complexity of the terpene profiles in my cannabis. No, I have not had 'gassy' or other issues non-organic growers regularly have. With care, cannabis can turn refined mineral salts into some mighty fine cannabis. But... the berry flavors are just that much more complex and the 'cream' flavor and mouth feel is so much more with rabbit manure.

Keep in mind, we're not talking rabbit manure flavors either, no guano after flavor like you get when you overdose bat guano or something similar. I've known LOTS of growers and tokers who thought the flavor of the organic nutes was 'good.' Overfed cannabis is overfed, and overfed organic cannabis has it's own disgusting flavor and excess nutrient problems just like overfed refined salt grows.

Grow organic and err on the side of underfeeding. ;)

Uhh... that's a sign you're harvesting too late or have CBN rich cannabis. Were it truly super strong cannabis they'd be whiting out instead of passing out.

I'd bet money you have a veeeeeery high CBN tolerance. ;)

I do take them past their peak. Shaking it all for Kief and making BadKat's oil from it. That stuff is speedy as can be and a late harvest helps take the sharp edge off. It'll still keep me awake all night if taken to late in the day.

Agreed, I went over to a friends house. He had a nice DWC tank and he had some killer looking plants. It was a no heat no environmental controls. It actually looked awesome, real frosty and smelly, but then both his strains have this taste. I can't even describe it but it tastes like Sterno or lighter fluid. Just absolutely disgusting all of it

I don’t think gassy strains has anything to do with growing in medium with nutes or soil.I grow in living soil now for ease and overall healthier plants.
My preference is mostly old school sativa strains. But I do admit to loving, some hard hitting , gassy /fuel ,OG Kush strains . More than I would any fruity strain.
Atm I’m smoking on some A5 haze x Congolese.🎉

It is rare but some combinations of Terpenes are flat out nasty.
Lavender. Cannabis
God gag me with a sword. Like being trapped on a long assed elevator ride with a woman drenched in some overwhelming Flowery stench. I actually had to throw that shit away as even my most hardcore brokeass friends said WTF is that when the bag was opened.
Dude it's free. It's got a great stone. But it smells like a dogs ass dipped in cheap perfume. I can't smoke this. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWwwwwwwwwwwwwwww close that bag. Now my car stinks of it. God it's on everything .
A nice big outdoor plant. All useless..

I would recommend growing less racy strains and harvesting in the optimal (low CBN) window for the best experience. Especially when sharing it with others. Personally I love racy where others have issues with it and have serious issues with sleepy CBN. ;)

Overfed refined salts is definitely easier to taste vs. the same level overfed using organics. Both taste disgusting to me and cause low blood pressure "head rush" issues from the excess nutes at harvest. So many growers still believe (erroneously) you can 'push' cannabis somehow and still get serious quality at harvest. Ouch!

I realize how certain strains have different terms and flavors but he had a night nurse and a silver haze and they BOTH had this odd off putting taste. Smelled like when I used to go to my white trash babysitters house that used to run a small deep fryer in her house, the smell just permeates everything and not in a good way. Ive always been soil only. Before I grew I was forced to smoke coco grown and I swear every strain I got for ten years tasted exactly the same. I swore way back then I was soil only for life

Ya that is something in the environment as they shouldn't both taste off. I've grown S Haze enough times and it is a clean smell. Real bad dry and cure can ruin even a good grow.

Yeah probably not flushed properly.🤷‍♂️
I would say that the terps are a little bit different when grown outside .
As far as the taste , I’ve grown coco inside and out, and soil inside and out for a long time.
The taste is a little more earthy when in soil, and not as strong .
But properly fed and flushed coco is extremely tasty. I used Canna Boost for a long time. The terps and taste were off the charts. When compared to soil and very little additives. The coco was a lot more superior.
The outdoor plants grown in coco and nutrients. Grew 3 times as big ,as in soil the same size pots.
