loved your smoke report. For the last few days I been smoking oth, but the purple pheno; a gift from a friend who I handed out some oth seeds last season. I suck at smoke reports, but I can say its really tasty, sweet and the smell fills up the room when you take the lid of the jar. Love this smoke, the high is pretty clear, makes you happy, though it gets me a little sleepy, tired when the effect goes away.
cheers :tiphat:

I agree with what you said about a little sleepyness at the end. For me, what little buildup of tolerance that occurs with this strain is mostly in erasing that come-down. I did not include any reference to that in the report because I consider that the effect of the ABSENCE of the haze high (you would not say that an amphetamine, for example, would cause someone to feel down or out of energy...those are the effects of having the drug and then subsequently NOT having it). That is not to say that 'withdrawal' is even present with the haze, or that it has effects or after effects of any heavy street drugs.

I also find that the longer the buds are cured, the less they produce this come-down effect, maybe in tandem with what I mentioned about tolerance.

Sounds awesome. Not so good for just sitting still and pondering things or otherwise not doing much?

I have only experience with the Panama Red and it kind of makes me not want to sit in one place.

hi dubi and friends :tiphat:.
i´m reading this thread from the begining and loving all the good information here.
may i make some questions?
I bought a pack of ace purple haze at seedsman and i´m planning the run on these beans. You know the parental in this actual seedsman purple haze packs?

I know that you dont recomend for indoor flower and it´s clear why this type of wild hazes are tricky to flower with bulbs and not enough space, but i have no choice in my place so..

i run all organic soils, i saved some tips from your posts, like transplanting after strech, cycling with 10-14 and using clones. I´ve a space problem, with just 1,60mt tall, so i want to know your opinion about a vert grow situation with scrog, using MH bulbs in the first 6 weeks of bloom, and them put another HPS bulb to run a mix to the mature fase.

I really want to make some good crosses but i´m a sativa lover too, so you get the idea. I dont have problems with long flowerings, i think i have the patience for that :bandit:.

Thanks for your time, best vibes!

Hello there everyone. I am growing out 8 Oldtimer haze plants currently. They all appear to look the same, a little different variations here or there. One stands out like a sore thumb and I would like to get some insight on it please. Thanks and enjoy life.

i would say your seedling is/has maybe:

- overfed or 'coco-straight-from-the-block-syndrome' (salts)
- wrong PH
- root problem
- underwatered
- a runt

or a combination of that.

Thanks for the input. I don't know why you would state that as it looks more "special" if anything then what you stated. That Oldtimer seedling looks perfect for its age. All green with their leafs pointing up, no twisting or curling. All the other Oldtimer seedlings just look more wide leafed and closer together.

My Coco coir comes with no nutrients or salts in it at all. I use RO water, with coco it never really gets to dry unless you're really lazy and don't water for 4 or 5 days. All my plant stems are very healthy, you can hit them pretty hard without them even moving much. Which insures you have strong roots. None the less thanks for your insight on what may be the answer to what I'm looking for.

You're in coco under LEDs. And it's got a purple main stem. I'd guess it's a magnesium problem, but I'm sure others will have more input.

Reading this thread made me realize I need this line of Haze to go with my Tom Hill's as well.

Thanks for the work you're doing preserving these old lines Dubi.

Thanks for the feedback Bear Riot :)

I'm glad she was worth the wait. Always happy to hear more Oldtimer's Haze finished reports. Sounds like a yummy tropical fruity green pheno!
Best wishes for autumn!

Hi pedrero,

Purple Haze release is Purple Haze 23 female inbred in seed form.

Haze is a tropical sativa to fully experience outdoors in warm climates. To grow pure haze indoors is really unpractical unless you want to breed with her. Yield is low and cycle takes usually half year. But a good haze makes very nice seeds. Pollinate her, if you have the chance.

Your setup (scrog vert style, height, organics, etc ..) sounds good, i'm sure with patience and dedication you will achieve good results.

Purple Haze x Malawi, Haze x Kali China or the upcoming Haze x Panama F1s are also worth to consider if you are looking for very hazy dominant plants, that are more indoor friendly (better yielding and stronger effect).

Best wishes!

I have an important question. What do these plants smell like in late flower? Im guessing these are low odor plants. But do they smell skunky? If i grow some huge purple haze or purple haze thai will they smell skunky? Im thinking no but your experience dubi would be nice to hear or anyone that grew big haze plants only. I want to risk growing some backyard monsters. I get a lot of whiyeflys they suck lol so im thinking some sea weed spray will prevent them.i will arm myself agains those bastards. I hate them withj a passion. I know its practically impossible to have non skunky smelling weed but i think its possible. I remember dubi saying malawi and golden tiger dont smell skunky. Can you recomend an ace strain without the typical skunk weed smell in budding?

bro, no bad here but that seedling doesn't look good to me.
Coco gets too dry very quick, the problem is that the plant does not show signs of draught- it just stagnates in nutrient uptake.
what I learned lately is that coco cant be overwatered when the container size matches the plant in it.

In time it will tell, that one is struggling for sure. The Oldtimer hazes have yet to show sex, if she is a female I plan to keep her. Each set of new leaves are looking better and better so I have hope for it . Indeed coco can't really be over watered which is why I water every 3 days as stated. Thanks for your concerns though.

Hi rolandomota,

Oldtimer's haze smells very little in flowering or growing, and is the opposite to the heavy skunky afghani aromas that usually people easily recognize as marijuana.

A good choice for outdoor growing if you have good weather and the odour is a problem. Hope it helps!

Hello everybody. First of all I want to make clear this message is not intended to bad mouth ACE Seeds at all. I've had excelent results with Zamaldelica and VbT, which I grew last summer here in the southern hemisphere. But, I've been having germination and other issues with my Green Haze's seeds.

Last summer I tried germinating 6 seeds (the pack -labeled 12/04/12-, came with 12 seeds instead of 10), and while 4 of them didn't sprout the other 2 had a problem that I'm also having now. I'll try to explain it.

20 days ago I put 2 seeds to germinate. While 1 didn't sprout, the other did, but grew very slowly and didn't even rise 1cm from the soil. It took off it's shell with hard work and the skin under it was very attached to the cotyledons. It stopped growing till it died. I took a look at the seedling and found out there were no cotyledons. Under the skin there was like a head not divided at all, and when I touched it, it got chopped instantly.

Last thursday I put the remaining 4 to germinate, and yesterday they went to the cups I use in the initial stages. The 2 that had the longest roots are doing fine, broke the shell in less than a day and are growing as they are supposed to. But then, a 3rd seedling had this same problem I described before (it ended in the garbage can 30 minutes ago), and a 4th seems to be in the same situation. I'll wait and see, and take a couple pics to show you.

What kind of issue is this?...please let me know if any of you had the same problem.

Greetings

In 1994 ish when I started growing, one of the local old time breeders gave me a few seeds. They were smaller than seeds I've seen before. The seedlings had long thin leaves which was also new to me. Even though I was a newbie I had sense to finish these sativa's in doors as I am above 40 deg latitude. An article in hightimes at the time pointed me in the right direction emphasizing the importance of blue light and UVB with sativa's. I harvested the best smoke I've ever had to date and set out to find this breed. Your photos in this thread have really helped me to confirm that it was Haze i had. Probably the green pheno. Looking forward to finally getting my card and growing more 100% sativas from ACE Seeds

Welcome djtall,

Fine indoor sativas! Looks indeed like an old sativa type. Must be a good one if 20 years later you still remember it as your best homegrown bud. Thanks for share it!

Hi Dubi!, nothing to worry at all. Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. Just wanted to know what kind of disease/issue that is.

Luckily enough the 3rd seedling didn't have the problem, although it grows very slowly. I'll post pics soon.

Greetings
