Hey O'Henry, what do you do to make your buds look so smooth when you trim them? Do you squish 'em? or do you give them a shave after removing the leaves? My own trimmed (sativa) buds look like this:


I don't take the scissors to the pistils when I trim, just the tiny leaves around the bud get cut off. Yours looked like they've been pressed into the buds or removed completely! Mine tend to look less furry after they've cured for a couple of months, but not smoooooooooth like yours.

I trim as much leaf off as I can. No SQUISHING!!!! is RIGHT!

This is my process:

1.) Completely dry out plant and soil two days prior to cutting.

2.) Remove all leaves from plants with bare hands. I get as much as I can including all the small fan leaves that will give you small stems after clipping the leaves off. Removing these early makes it easier in the long run and removes more stem which will hold moisture.

3.) Put into dark for extended 10 hours. Total of 22 hours darkness prior to harvesting.

4.) Pull plant from darkness and begin cutting buds from branches.

5.) Trim buds on the moderate/heavy trim side. Not so much that your actually taking any meat off but enough to clean 'em up nice.

6.) Place all buds on screen. I don't hang the buds like most people do. Rather I use the screen and flip the buds three or four times a day for three-four days. Thats what compacts the buds and keeps them smooth and tight. Because of this drying method it usually takes alittle longer to dry because the buds aren't so "airy" being hung.

7.) After drying on a screen for three to four days I put all the buds in one big plastic bag. The buds should have a crusty outer "shell" feeling. Sealing the bag I place it on top of the computer screen for a day or so. This is a tip CC taught me. It brings the moisture out of the center of the bud and evenly distributes it throughout the bud. Ocasionally opening the bag I'll wipe the inside down with a paper towel to clean up extra moisture. After a day or so...because of proper flushing....the buds are ready to smoke!


I prefer this method because I enjoy smoking heavy bowls that don't burn out in on hit. This method will give you compact heavy buds that hold the right amount of moisture well and don't dry out quick either. Well this was fun...didn't expect to go on about my methods but I'm stoned on some Sharon now....very creative and productive stuff! Later OH

I think I'm going to have to stick to my furry buds and old habits....I'm a stickler for a slow dry and long cure and I think I've become emotionally attached to my fuzzy nugs

Was busy in the workshop today!

I pulled the fan leaves off all the plants including the Mist. I'm at about 58 days with the Mist so I don't think I'll have any problems. The buds are so dense. I can not wait to smoke this beaute. Anyways...their in darkness right now and I will cut and trim the tomorrow.

With the new open flower chamber alot can now be done. I've moved all the clones JB gave me into the flowering area. Along with those, I also have the ECSD mom and Schrom mom. I am going to top and veg most everything for three-four weeks. Not messing round this time!

The first run of clones are now showing roots. I've got 10 ECSD and 10 Schrom 6 days in plugs and the same amount @ 12 days in plugs. These moms have just been kickin out clones! I'll be flowering the old moms and keep two new nice lookin ones.

I enjoy being out in the woods as much as I can. The chance for a good photo is to much to resist going out.

I'll have some more smoke but this time I won't be rolling in to much smoke. I flowered these things from real small seedlings so I'll be lucky to get a half off each of the the three plants. These were more like small experiments of the strains, my germing methods, and feeding demands. I'll be germing all of the seeds I have now to find a nice pheno or two to clone.

I actually cut the buds this morning when I woke. These Mist nugs are gonna pack a punch! I'm so excited about this girl. The seeds I've got left are going to be a fun little project to work on this fall.

Last night I trimmed all the BI and MM buds! Not much but damn is this smoke quality! The BI is so fruit filled it makes my mouth water. I've yet to taste any of the MM as it still has days of drynig ahead. I'll take some pictures tonight.

Sharon's almost gone...except for what I hid away. I'm kinda happy only because I feel like I've been on some hard drugs for the past week and a half. See ya all soon. Later OH

Hehe. i did that once... forgot where i put it tho... i like my short term memory... but lateley hes been shyieng away from me.. a month later i stumbled upon it. lol... moral is... dont hide your buds in the water heater closet.

Updates...


I've been continuing to clone the ECSD mom and the Schrom mom. I'll begin flowering in a 15 plants cycle soon. I'm excited to think that I may be harvesting bi-weekly!

The JB clones are all rooting well. I can't wait to get them into a nice mix of soils. When we first put them in dirt we had no perlite. Watering these things to much can keep them water-logged.

I've also added Microblast into the feeding cycles~! I've heard great things about this Earth Juice product and I can't wait to see the results.

I've got excellent snap shots of the harvest bud sho I'll have them up tonight! Just smoked some BI on the way to work and couldn't be happier!
