Yes, Gold=Money, even if the world economy colapsed, half the population died, and there was no cash to trade for your investment, you could still buy and sell with gold, it is the only currancy (along with Silver and Platinum) that is always worth something everywhere all the time.

I have a small investment in Silver bullion, someday I hope I will have some Gold as well, I'd advise everyone to have at least some real money(my name for gold/silver) on hand, look at it not as a investment, but as insurance.

i actually looked this up and you can buy an ounce for 667 or something roughly.. not bad, i remember the days when an ounce of weed cost the same amount as an ounce of gold.

I was just thinking that last night, gold and bud were about the same for a long time, I used to joke that bud was worth its weight in gold.

it's hard to run with the weight of gold
Other hand I heard it said
it's just as hard with the weight of lead"

One way or another brothers and sisters...

Paper currency is all most as heavy as gold when you get up into the $200,000+ mark.

Gold is probably 3-4 times heavier, but I mean, if you have $200,000+ cash that is going to weigh all most a pound.

If you have small bills they might ever weigh more than gold depending on how small the bills are.

heh me too, for awhile there they were pretty even. Gold has left bud in the dust tho, i believe its all the way up to 650 an ounce atm.

anyways, if the world economy collapse and someone offered me gold for my veggies growin in my veggie garden... he would be one starvin mofo... you cant eat gold

Yes, but you could buy a gun or bullets to keep the starvin mofos at bay, or maybe to buy many other tools. Life would have to get pretty basic and simple for Gold to loose too much value.

so where do you actually buy gold bars?

Look in your local yellow pages for Precious metals dealers or Coin stores, I've never heard of buying Gold at the bank, but who knows, maybe thats the norm in other countries.
