Official 4/20 Growers and Breeders Cup 2009 Info..

I would consider it a totally unbiased competition if it was done this way.

Lets say 28 people enter just for easy math. 14 Breeders and 14 Independent Growers. There are 28 judges. Each one get 28 1 gram samples labeled sample #1 to sample #28. They rate each one and fill out the form. Then old pink knows who is who and separates the completed sample score sheets into Breeders and Independent Growers.

But if the judges get the samples and they are labeled Independent Growers samples #1 to #14 and Breeders samples #1 to #14. That will sway the ratings in my opinion. Just like if there were 2 categories called ChemDawgs/OG Kushes sample #1 to #14 and Independent Growers samples #1 to #14. There will be a placebo effect to the ratings of the ChemDawg/OG Kushes.

Hey I really want to be convinced it will be unbiased because I want to enter my finest ounce of my outdoor weed. I have been curing it for 6 months. I been planning on entering for the past year. I want to know how I rate but I don't want to have an unlevel playing field.

thoughts....

Hey Old Pink or Gypsy I hope you don't think I am complaining because I am not. I just want to understand how it is going to be judged before I throw down a few ounces of weed.

I know you guys have a full plate and I am kinda pesky at times. Sorry!

There cannot be an unlevel playing field if the judging is done blind.....each entry will have a different number so the judges will not know what they are judging and will not know if it is an independent grower/breeders sample or from a more established breeder....

I think that it is important for independent growers to have the opportunity to compete against the more established breeders ....

*cloudz.....yes you can bring your entry to the Dam and hook up with oldpink via pm here on the site.....try and get it to him before the 16th April if at all possible....

*vinevamp....we will make some judges passes available thru seedbay before the event.....probably within the next 24 hours...

Hi Gypsy

Probably get shot down for it but given the places are limited for judges passes I would think doing a short notice run of pre event sales would disadvantage several folk possibly including myself and the possibly two judges passes I'm after based on categorisation.

The first would be around membership of Seedbay and prior purchase status. Will there be any disadvantage to those that have not previously had a Seedbay account or made no prior purchase.

The next would be on acceptable payment methods ie credit cards. We have just changed the type of card we have (Edit: ANd are still waiting on the new card to arrive) to let us draw money directly in holland save on some exchange rates if the extra money isn't needed. However as much as the card may still work I would not be inclined to use it with a business I also have somewhat of a personal relationship with as I wold hate for a clawback to later happen and add un necesarry costs.

It may seem like pre selling is a good idea, but since we all have to get there to participate IMO the in person first come first served makes the process as level a playing field as possible.

Second Edit:
Also given the comments about re lists for purchases not paid in the 420 auction this introduces that element to the passes and also that someone may purchase, pay and not show up therefore skewing the votes.

In years gone past we have had a few surplus judges packs that have just been given away at the cup......

This year most judges passes will be available for purchase on the 17th April in the Dam .....I won't discriminate against who might buy them based on if they have been a previously good customer or not and won't allow 'bulk buying' of passes that could threaten the integrity of the event......none will be available for purchase with a CC.....for security reasons so preventing any possibility of fraud/chargebacks...

What I look for in a judge is a clearly independent enthusiast that has no irons in the fire as to the outcome of the event and can attempt and hopefully succeed in being able to judge the event fairly and without prejudice.....none of the judges know what variety is what when they are judged blindly like this.....and a judge has to fill out and submit their own scorecard within the time frame allowed to the correct place so that the admin can eventually figure out who won the cups....there is a certain responsibility in judging a competition like this..

I have released the hounds!!!! I can't believe I am entering the 420 Cup. I have been laughing and getting stoned all day. I can hardly wait for the 420 Cup posts the night of the cup. When I get my ass handed to me I will still be partying!!!

Good Luck everyone!

No worries mate I know your just putting on a great event and respect for not restricting sales to 1 feedback or such as the other auction sites use. How would I pay for them if they come up for sale via seedbay send a cheque or cash or cash on collection at the venue?

Ickis

Good luck you will be up against the best breeders and growers. Missing out on an entry myself this year but all ready got mother in place for next year.

I am traveling a long way for this but in previous years the logistics of the auction was complex. We need two judges passes and arrive in the Dam on the 15th. Tell me the best way to proceed...auction and pay someway other than CCs, go someplace on the 17th and purchase the pass...whatever will work, just so I get a judges pass.....please advise.....

Thank You Icmag for hosting this event.

I might not have ever gone to Amsterdam without the temptation Icmag provided!

It would be good to get a rough idea, it's considerably more expensive than last year, which was fair for what you got. i am more than happy to pay that if the amount of samples reflects the price though.

Cheers!
