Off the shelf retail store screw-in LED and CFL bulb comparisons

Also how well do these work for vegging? I'm wanting to replace my cfls and wondering what everybody's experience has been using these since this thread was started. I'll look through the thread again but it's pretty long lol and figured I could get some easy input by just asking.

Read back a few posts and one of you are saying 35w per square ft is that what I should shoot for? If so maybe it was too much light intensity because I was running around 75w a Sq ft when I had the light burn issues. It was definitely light burn too not a nute burn or deficiency

Read some more of the thread and see where terpene is saying 20w per square ft in veg and 30w in flowering. I'm gonna swap my cfls out and give that a try the plants that burned had just switched to flower and had been under cfls before so maybe it was too much light then they were used too. Will give this a go for vegging and then maybe run a side by side comparison during flower with a 400w eye hortilux

I tried using these awhile back and had some light burn issues. Area was roughly 8 sq ft and had 30 15w phillips 2700k screw in leds and 10 15w 5000ks covering that area. The lights were around 6 to 8 inches above canopy level. After getting the burn i swapped back to hps but am still interested in using the screw in leds. Was this a case of too much light, too close to the canopy or a combo of both? If so whats the reccomended amount of lights per sq ft and what height should they be at if it was too close? Thanks for any advice

400W is a shit load for 8 sq ft but 600 W sounds like something i would do. I heard 30 W sq ft is pretty good. 240W so I am guessing Photon over load.

I had some burn problems from having the lights too close but i had them ridiculously close 2-3". Then i sprayed like a moron , a couple of days later major burn like compleatly thru the leaf. I only use the cheap 10 or 9.5 W bulbs from the big box store. with the bigger wattage ones might be for spot lights and have a narrower beam angle .

Nice setup Argo yeah I think you're right it was too much light the burn pattern looked exactly like the pics of light burn I see online and was burned more closers to the lights. I'm doing side by side comparisons of vegging with cfls and leds at 20-30 watts a Sq ft and raised to 12 inches above the canopy. Only been a day but looking good so far. I'm gonna try to maintain a 12-18 gap above the canopy with both the leds and hps from now on and see if things go better. Thnx for the input:tiphat:

Hi guys!!!
My little test goes on, now with 5bulbs 9w 6400°k and 4bulbs 11.5w 2700°k.

in a few days I will change to 12/12, removing some 6400 ° k light bulbs and adding more 2700°k.

With pleasure I share with you some photos of my plants.

Shaki are you running a carbon filter? I just bought a small 2x2x3 tent when I purchased the carbon filter I didn't know it was so big, I have it sitting on the floor in the tent and takes up a good amount of space. I see your vent hose but no filter is it on the outside of the tent?

Why combining 6400 K with 2700 K?

Growing these two for the party cup challenge under 86-watts (4x 21.5watt) off-the-shelf LED. The strain is an auto I made, Lowryder x La Diva. They are seven weeks from seed.

Hi psyphish,I 've used 2700k in flo and they were fine.

3 weeks from seed for the bigger ones, they've been topped, tied, crushed .First time vegging with the screw-ins and I can say I love them, with my 400 w MH temps would have been unbearable these 3 weeks...Also good side branching and minimal internode stretch, mostly sativa strains. In flo I will probably use both HID and screw ins.

Lol how'd you accidentally throw it across the room? Poor baby glad to hear she wasnt hurt
LOL taking it out to water it. Turned around and lost my grip. She went tumbling "ass over tea kettle". Still finding bits of perlite in the bud every now and again. Thats ok, it just adds to the weight. :YaRight:
