20kw dreams

But you have a computer? lol...

What do you do out there? Seems like it would get boring, unless you hunting for food or something.

The reason you burn up a ballast quickly when using an inverter is because the inverter uses a pulsating DC Voltage to excite a transformer and produce an AC waveform. ESPECIALLY if it is a PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) Inverter. These tend to cause large transient spikes which exceed the insulation rating of the transformer contained in the ballast. These spikes "perforate" (burn pinholes) in the insulation of the ballast's transformer until which time as there is a dead short circuit to ground. BTW, if you add "Line Reactor" between the inverter and load, you can significantly reduce these transient spikes.

Three things you would need to consider:

1: Insulation Voltage Rating of ballast's transformer (Motors used specifically on PWM inverters have F class (1600V rated) insulation... Regular motors are rated @ 1000V)

2: Size of Line Reactor needed. A line reactor is a big inductor. Coils tend to resist any fast changes in voltage/current and will tend to protect the load from these transient spikes.

3: cost of said line reactor....they can be fairly expensive if you want to use them to protect a large load

Just food for thought.

You're saying he can run some HID's? You need to not know so much. :D

so your generator powers both your home and the bud box? do you run the gen 24/7, or for bursts to charge batteries?

id love to have a dedicated gen just to run a room full of tubes. on flip of course to max the amount of bud. i just like tube grows.

Beautifullllll for sure. I don't know if I could make it the entire winter, though. But, with my girl, no jobs, and bud... along with some pets, possibly.

Lookin good bro, right on.

That is one helluva plant ya got there.
What strain is that?
Is that seriously a 16 oz bottle??? (Not 20oz?)
What was the yield?

Great job,

:headbange

~~~They are in 20oz bottles cut at the label....makin' them a 15.4 oz bottle with about 13-14oz of soil area.
That one and most of her sisters was 82 gm. wet and 21 gm. dried and cured~~~
~~~She is my own strain called "Chesaw" she is named after a Lil' town in Eastern Wa. where my wife and I used to go camping~~~

Dr. Bud,
Welcome to IC. Your CFL tutorial's on WC were one of the major influences that convinced me to get growing. You are a true superstar grower and IC is better off having you!

Gosh I love the sound of "off the grid". Sounds like some freedom mixed with adventure. Peace and good growing! I am trying to get flushed out from South Australia, ready to face the Wal-Mart mindset idiocy of perpetual piss tests and moronic politics. Say some prayers for everyone locked up for weed and pray we can reclaim our country back from the sick evil 'compassionate christian' bastards destroying the world.

I've got that dream and a few questions. I know that anyone can build a 10x12 foot cabin without a permit even in the city. So did you build your own? Land. Please tell me you have at least a couple acres of your own. I also want to know about the generator. How many watts, and who long does 10 gallons of gas last. What's in the fridge? Do you have a fridge?

I can;t wait to get there. I'll build few of those small cabins and connect them together with a large deck. Of course you need a permit for a deck....

Yes we built it ourselves

Land. Please tell me you have at least a couple acres of your own.

17.5 acres paid for and we are buying the other 37 below us and we are surrounded on three sides by National Forest Land 6,000 acres

4,500 watts........we use 14 gallons a week

What's in the fridge? Do you have a fridge?
Refer...and freezer....are Propane

No permits needed for anywhere around here........there are some "Crazy F*%#@R's" over on another mountain that live in 4 busses set-up like a star

I know this is an old post but i must comment! I do alot of hunting and fishing down here in lousiana and i go out to our camp all the time which is like being off grid for a couple of days. I must say you are a phenomenal person, everything i have read so far from you has been astounding. I wish that i can be like you some day, to get to live off grid with just my dogs, my girl and the wilderness. (and of Course some reefer!)

Do you have many visits from wild animals knocking at your door?!
