Hi and welcome. I'm guessing from all that snow that we are talking diesel generator rather than solar power. I really cant see you having a wind up ballast unless you attached the winder to the belt on your snow ski. Another request for pics and details here.

Yes we make all our own power....and haul our water from a well 1/2 hour away.....our Cabin is only accessable by "Short wheelbased Rockcrawler" or CAT in the summer and Sled or Sno-Cat in the winter we use a Generator and some Panels that fed a "Bank" of 22 Trojan L-16 Batteries that power 2 inverters one in the Cabin and one in my Shop

HID Ballasts and Inverters don't like to play "Nice"......I would LUV to have 3-70 Watt HPS's in my flowering box...I went through two of them a coupla years ago...1 went at day 21 the other lasted 47 days
