can't fix the machine if you don't have the components
there are no republicans or democrats just goldman and citi.
the state of our economy was created by bipartisan effort
Not trying to make any point about this quote other than to say that it made me literally laugh out loud. Truly never thought I'd see someone in this thread say "zero spin" and "from the government" in the same sentenceactual "regulations" and practices of the federal government with zero spin(you can tell by the .gov)

Actually many people said as much before the crisis and they were ignored. The same people and many, many more are now saying we are headed for a bigger disaster and they are being ignored. And when the shit hits the fan again everyone believing the narrative from governments and the MSM will say that nobody could have seen it coming.Hindsight is 20/20. Nobody ever imagined the formerly stingiest bastards on the planet would flip and loan w/o doing due diligence. Nobody imagined balloon payments, inexplicable excepting intentional default. Nobody imagined credit default swaps to insure junk mortgages. Nobody imagined collusion with the ratings agencies, packing one AAA mortgage with 25 or 30 pieces of junk. Nobody anticipated a fed chief would keep interests rates low when loans were at atomic levels. This tanked the bond market and all the global cash poured into home equities instead of treasuries.
So we attempt to countermand the wrong-doing by spending our way out of it?
Naughty naughty. Can't fix one without fixing the other...austerity...I'm cool with it and it's a lesson that needs to be learned by soft-assed Americans.
Ask not what your country can do for you...make your own fucking way.
Is that not a trait inherent to all, learned or otherwise?
It sure as hell use to be.
But you keep pointing to the evil bastards as the cause for all your woes.
Bunch of fucking pussies in this god damned country

Yep, banks want the middle class and working poor to take it on the chin... again. In other words, we already bailed em out. Our money was supposed to shore up toxic debt. Banks consolidated further, booked proceeds as profits and justified more bonuses. They should call it bone-us.The reality of the situation is the fundamental problem hasn't been resolved. It's been made exponentially worse and we (western countries) are going try and print our way out of it just like every other failed monetary system has attempted to do. The only reason being that it's politically easier to print and ignore reality than to convince the electorate to take the pain now. Nevermind the fact that monetizing always destroys one's currency and a lot of other things.
"Shoring up toxic debt" is a Neo-economic fallacy. Bad debt must be written off one way or another. The banks robbed us and they are going to do it again and again and again with the politicians approval until we stand up.Our money was supposed to shore up toxic debt.
Nah. Regulation would apply here. Spending mitigates poor economies.
Naughty naughty.
Conservatism rears it's little head and mimics El Rushbo. Or is it the great Hank Williams Jr? You know, you can subscribe to Hank and read/listen to crap like the above all the time.
Anybody hear about El Rushbo? I mean, I know he's in the news for saying stupid stuff all the time. This case is no different.
Apparently Rush read the Lord's Resistance Army's wiki page and keyed off two words - 'Lord' and 'dictators' (as the LRA supposedly hates dictators.) As it turns out, the LRA is the bad guys, lol.
A dittohead called up and warned Rush he was wrong yet again, LRA's a bunch of ruthless psychopaths. Of course, Rush thanks the listener and says they'll get it right after they do their 'investigation". I can see Rush with his magnifying glass... investigating naval lint.
Added together they're not as pathetic as Glen Beck. After all, it's Beck telling us that OWS protesters are gonna kill 1%ers.
Between Hank, Rush and Glen, you've got a plethora of pathetic to choose from.
But not you, IPS. There's no reason to make veiled insults at the hidden head shooter.
BTW, did you find anything to back you last screed?
Was talking about Greenspan. You're right, lots of peeps warned of systemic risk and too big to fail. And then they voted to water down or eliminate significant reforms.

As it is, banks still don't know whom (other banks) to loan and whom to reject. So they just wallow in their own greed.
Banks should use bail-out money for it's intended purpose. Otherwise, folks might look at only part of the problem.
. this is why i see collusion more so than conspiracy. but all the key players are corrupt & morally bankrupt... that's most all of em. just don't see that 'they' will ever change w/o outside influence to force it... i.e., viva la revolucion!
It's like you have faith in other people to do what is against their own personal best interests... that the gov, big biz & even the populace 'should' be more altruistic... to do what is right for the overall greater good. Just kinda odd to realize this.
the only thing that keeps me from being an outright conspiracist is that i don't feel many of the key power players & decision makers have terribly long foresight... just seems they look for the immediate return on the short hustle, and then readjust to whatever fallout to the best of their ability, to move on to the next set of hustles that can be played, with the shared goal of more for less... to the best of their ability. this is why i see collusion more so than conspiracy. but all the key players are corrupt & morally bankrupt... that's most all of em. just don't see that 'they' will ever change w/o outside influence to force it... i.e., viva la revolucion!
Regulating fraud isn't against the people's best interest. Nothing odd about wanting a strong macro economy. Get big bucks out of political campaigns and lawmakers won't be as hampered with special interests.
and then the "revolutionaries" become 'the new class', reference marx.
and the cycle begins again, or should I sy the loop? all that changes is the players and their lingo.
I got news for you. We never left the times of kings.sometimes I do wonder if going back to the times of kings is a good idea

hmm not sure about that. I'd say we haven't had a real king for a long time. Id say it's the time of Barons, which is pretty opposite to the King
Last King I know of was JFK. Or you could call him a wannabe King.
here is the speech against those very Barons that sure made an impact on him being dead.
