The embargo has hurt the Cuban economy and the Cuban people for over 50 years, while doing nothing to change the communist government in power. The people there should be free, obviously, but hurting their economy hasn't worked. Maybe keeping them poor and isolated for another 50 years would help.
The embargo hasn't been lifted yet, but this is a good step forward. Communism will die there on its own, because it doesn't work in the end. Ending the embargo would mean prosperity instead of poverty. And freedom, more than they have now anyway.
