"NYC Piff"

Anybody else notice in recent years that some haze buds have gotten chunkier, with more indy influence? People around here usually have different batches on hand, and most heads go for the bag of chunkier, frostier haze buds. I'm sure somebody has been making crosses for higher yields and quicker finishes.

Those dark golden sativa buds are what I really think of as piff.... Some of the best weed ever

We need more haze in NYC...Im really getting sick of sour and kush and the "just woke up" "high" it gives me...Its great bud but the high gets played out...I smoked some haze hybrid the other day and it was amazing...It put me in a great mood, gave me energy and a flood of creative ideas... I havent smoked that FIRE haze in 2yrs...those huge sticky golden calyxes you gotta pick off one by one...WISH I got a seed or knew what that was...damn.

i just started dealing with some guys i used to fuck with years back in queens, they always had sour, some kind of kush, and piff. since ive been goin to them recently ive only got the sour and kush, which is phenomenal, but I miss that basement/doctors office/incense smelling haze, i am definitely gonna grab some next time. brings back memories.. this shit is like a mystery to me.. why hasnt a major seed company picked up on this shit? ive been around, to cali, vancouver, amsterdam, and theres great stuff everywhere, but it seems like nowhere else has that church piff like here in nyc. this shit is too good for a company like greenhouse or something not to capitalize on. I'm surprised Rez hasnt done anything with it, since around here the piff and sour diesel kinda go hand in hand.. as soon as someone puts out an IBL or something i'm all over it.

jd4083, yes there is a line in itself called Piff (Uptown Haze). Just like there is a strain called Chronic, or a true line called Skunk. Although people just end up lumping any good quality weed under these names.

Just to correct this qoute for future reference, no there is no "piff" strain. Just new slang for the BEST haze in the early2000's that got spread to everybodys haze. Cuz how are you gonna try and sell haze when the next guy has piff? then kinda got spread over lots of other good strains (mostly likely sensi stars, good lemony sativas, etc).

it was pretty much "haze" or "dro" for awhile. Dro was understood to mean anything from "beasters" to some very good bud that just wasnt haze (hashplant, NL, AK, Sweet Tooth, Bubblegums, etc). A little digging would sometimes yeild the true name, depending where you got it.

now its pretty much "haze" or "kush" everything really good is either one or the other. most club type strains are going as kush now out here.

Im from nyc and still live in NYC. uptown harlem.

Haze/piff comes into nyc from different points.
Mostly from Canada and Florida.
back in my younger days(minor) i use to call it "project piff" cus burning a blunt of that haze always smelled like a project staircase.

The dominicans in the heights are the main supplier of the piff espec in harlem.
Easily stand on a harlem block and get charged 400/oz while just a few more stops up you deal with the distributors(200oz, real talk ;-) )
I smoked so many different batches hazes/piffs but you can tell it has the same parent genetics down the line.

They drive it up from florida and if you want to talk about race, they usually use puerto ricans to drive it. my step father has had the opportunity to drive for a major distributor network in the heights.

it really is who you know, but most of what was said here(other 10pages) is the truth.

i can answer alot of "piff" questions, and espec the network its involved in as ive "Seen" alot of what goes on to get those batches out on the street.
(personally i feel like haze/piffs are inferior to cali bred but ive grown up on piff)

We used to have a Widow Haze hybrid in Ga. that was def. church all the way. Its still around in small circles.I don't really think the guys that have it realize what they have. I am going to try and get a cut of it soon.They also have a Hawaiian Sativa crossed with Island sweet skunk I am currently trying to get.Both of them are incredible sativa based strains the likes of witch I have not seen here in the North bay.When you walk into a room where it has been smoked there is no mistaking it pure haze funk.Both of these legendary strains were brought around by the same dude in the mid to late 90s.I think he got the Widow haze in the dam around 95 or 96.To this day its the best haze I have ever puffed don't know if it is Piff but all the descriptions sound really familiar.

The pictures on page 1 IS NOT uptown haze. The real stuff has the smallest of calyxes and is matted in long thin red hairs. I get elites cuts all day at 250 a zip and will willingly pay 500 for legit uptown. The same cut has been growing for a long time without any variation. i dont mean to offend anyone .

Me too it makes me smile how when i first joined there were a handful of guy's saying NYC haze was special/some of the best smoke they have experienced an since that time many more have said the same.


It depends with global warming it has been about mid november the last 2 yrs .Sadly Hillbilly haze is not in rotation this year my options are limited an i will goes balls out this year with tom hill haze n colombian gold an just incase they are all extreme long finishing phenos ,ill have some Nevils G13hashplant to make up for anything i might have to take early an wont be at full potential

After talking about it i had to go grab a couple of samples off the street. out of 3 samples, A mango haze , B decent piff golden small calxes and leafy, C best representation of uptown tons of hairs matted on golden leafy tight buds unfortunately taste only lasted halfway through joint. will try again in a month or so

Did anybody catch the Tony Bourdain "layover" in A'Dam? His criteria for selecting a fine haze sounds just like ours: grab the one that smells like cat piss and make some clouds. Made me think of you, Bigherb - I hope you're well and 'piffed' as a mofo.

that looks like dr grinspoon from barneys. it looks bomb but also looks like one of the smallest yielding strains ive seen. i would like to try it though, looks like a bomb haze.

and i think a lot of people say jj nyc from top dawgs nigerian lines are similar to the uptown piffs.

i found a bomb ass grape nag champa incense smelling purple pheno of i'd assume was original haze in a bag of sam the skunkmans haze/skunk mix crosses. it was a good come up cuz i havent seen a lot of weed like it, most purples are indicas but this ones a pure sativa haze.
