A couple peoples posts about different variations of purple haze led me to write this review:
I used to get some of the most amazing Purple Haze a couple years ago. The connect used to drive down to New York once every other week. However, Purple Haze is one of the most falsely represented strains around. I don't think there is a true "Purple Haze" seed stock that is grown consistently. There are many variations and attempts at creating a variation of a hazes's that are purple or in this case this gem of indica balanced haze pheno.
I always assumed that the really good purple hazes where a Purple Thai cross of some sort.
Any guesses to the exact genetics would be pure speculation but if I had to take a stab at it. I would say maybe a Purple Thai or Haze x Citral or Pre 98 Bubba? These are all far-off guesses, but they would be similar to what I would expect - considering the quality of the high.

I've smoked hundreds of dispensary strains and this Purple Haze I was getting consistently was one of the most amazing smokes I've ever encountered. A strong haze high with one of the deepest and most balanced indica backbones I've smoked. The buds were dark green, and it wreaked like ammonia pine tree forests. The smallest whiff would stick to your nostrils for 3-5 minutes, it was one of the most pungent balanced soaring hazes with an incredible indica body high. It was so sticky that even when cured I couldn't break it up with a grinder, I always had to resort to using scissors. Half a pinner between two seasoned high end smokers and we usually wouldn't want to finish it. Whole body buzzing, mind soaring a million miles a minute, mild closed eye visuals and deep thoughts that let you drift off into realm of introspection. Cuddled with one of the warmest indica backbones I've encountered. On a side note I had a oz of some other herb from a totally different connect that was absolutely incredible in the indica body buzz department. It brought warm waves of tingling bliss all around my body that was a perfect transition into sleep. I wish my friend got the name of the strain when picking it up - it was pure fire. Anyone else experience a strain like this, haze or not? But I digress.
What I would do for a cut of that "Purple Haze" strain. I have no clue what the flowering time on it was, for all I know it could have been 16 weeks. But with the strong indica balance hopefully that flowering time was reduced. For a while I was on a mission to find a seed or cut of this "purple haze". But soon discovered the misrepresentation of so many so called "purple haze's" in the breeding field. I completely hear where the others are coming from concerning the saturated presence of many so called "purple hazes" genetics that fall flat - or the amount of people calling any purple herb they get Purple Haze when they sell it.
If I ever ran across someone selling purple haze, I'm already thinking 95% chance they are full of it. I have seen so many things tried to be passed off as a "purple haze" that it's laughable.
Oh where is that NY cut, I fell in love with 5 years ago?
