Hi @Roms. I was reading about trait changes across altitudinal/elevation gradients in Southern Andes, very similar to North Pakistan. At least in Phacelia secunda they talk about dwarfism, bigger size (radial?), longer leaf pubescence's, and more circular leaves (less foliar area... less water and heat loss).

In the second study they compare P. secunda with Dandelion. Different ways to cope with altitude.
I would love to see what happens if a dwarf phenotype and a "equatorial like" phenotype gets cultivated at high altitudes (over 3500 m asl.). Do both becomes dwarf? dwarf phenotype has more advantage than the equatorial type?

Cheers,

Maybe all origin theories come from biased and political objectives. The nazis come to mind and their aryan idiotology. China can gain from saying the origins are within their borders.
I like your open mind roms.
If it came from tropical backgrounds then why does it only naturalize outside of tropics?
If it was austronesian in it’s dispersal, than the history of the coconut could be parallel to that of cannabis?
it didnt originate in tropics, supposedly though. it started in dry mountain step like enviornments, like in the high plateu areas of mongolia or China. People that lived in these areas had horses and or cattle and used the plant for food and textiles, then brought it with them, also obviously it was used like by the Sythians for its intoxicating and or spiritual uses. I guess they put the whole hemp stalks, flowers, seeds and all on a fire covered by a tent or in a special brazer with coals to inhale. they have even found these brazers with cannabis still in them, they tested them for THC degredation products and found the Cannabis variety to be rich in these compounds, telling us that these were not simply a wild variety still found in that area, but a higher cannabinoid rich strain. So they say anyways. The Sythians were really a crazy bunch, warlike, tribal, amazing archers bowyers and horsemen. I am unsure if they are related to the Yamnaya or not. The Yamnaya being the warrrior people that invaded eastern europe and replaced the original inhabitatnts by conquering, killing and also intebreeding with the women as spoils of war. Peace out.
