Northern Lights in 250w HPS Cab!

Really nice and clean cab. I love it!
I'm about to build one myself (tired of outdoor stress). Since its gonna be hidden in the lower half of my clothingcloset, i got limited space for the cab. Fan (S&P Silent) and maybe filter can be hidden in an external box next to the closet. I was thinking about going 12/12 from seed with the whole box, but the NGB-Box design like yours really look cool!
I allready got 70W CMH, will use that for Veg/Moms(/Clone). Thinking about 150W CMH for 12/12 (maybe HPS).
Maybe i missed it, but could u tell the measurements of your box. How much Intake do you have? I need to do some more planing and then i'll open a construction thread, so when it's time i may ask for your advise again...
BTW, a friend of mine who lives far away grew C99 (FMS) under 400W HPS and he sent me some good cured bud. Extreeeeme cool stuff,... tasty, trippy... quite sure, u won't regret trying it.
Enjoy your wonderfull buds :)

Yeah NL's are very suited for indoor growing. I'd be careful though with any plant in flower, and odur control. I've had NL's 6 weeks in that smelled so rancid it was hard to hide. :joint:

Sound like you've got a spot ready to go :joint:

Have you vegged with the 70w before? If you have did you compare it to CFL's or PLL's in veg? From my experience HPS in veg does work and well sometimes for some people, but have found that stretching is more likely to happen. If youve got a 70w MH thats a different story...
Just a page back goes into all my venting and CFM rating, yada yada yada...Check it out!

My box flower side is approx.

31 inch wide
20 inch deep
45-47 inch tall

Im not sure how exact I am so Ill take some measurements tonight and post some other shots of this rounds meger haul.

Peace MC

hey MC, been almost two weeks since you hung things up, howre they lookin? hows the dry and cure goin?!

Goin well so far :)

Into the jars now for a good while. I ended up with exactly 2 zips in there, the CFL ers I had been vegging under is super smoke but not very heavy. Ive taken some shots last night so I'll post some tonight. Ive also got a huge bag of outdoor bud, sugar leaf etc and I will do a post on making water hash the gravity way if anyone shows some interest.

Peace

congrats on the 2 zips!! lookin forward to some pics and maybe a smoke report? But i definitely have some interest in that! I've only seen the gravity method once or twice, and never a full explanation so that would be great!!

So what are we going to do with all the Northern Lights shake/trim and last years outdoor bud scraps?

Make ghetto gumby hash, what else??!?

I know there are a million ways to make gumby hash. I know I dont do everything 100% right, and there are other methods to get to the final result, this is a simple and effective way using common items laying around the house, and no power tools ( Drill/paint mixer extension)

What you'll need: 2 buckets, water, bag of ice, coffee filter, clean mixing stick, pyrex (baking dish), aquaring hose or other small hose of 3' length, bag of quality trim( leave in freezer for at least a couple hours before making gumby, and a strainer with FINE MESH SCREEN, this is very imoprtant. You will also need ziplock bags and a glass baking dish.

Fill your bucket with about 2.5 gallons of water, ice, and frozen trim...

Mix the shit out of this with your stick for about 10 minites with out stopping. Dont be a pussy. Your arms should be a little sore after. If you go too lightly, you wont knock off all the trichromes. If you mix too long, you start breaking up plant matter and this will mix in with the glands, making for shittier product...https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=34741&pictureid=817155

Next take your funnel with mesh screen, or your strainer, whatever you got and place it over your bucket...

Pour your mixture through...

My funnel has a small mesh screen so the plant matter clogs it easily so I have to shake it around a bit throughout the process..
Then what I like to do is pour through about a 1-2 litres of fresh water, hopefully washing through some more glands...

DONT THROW OUT THE MATERIAL YET!!! I like to put into a ziplock with a hole cut in the corner and squeeze out the left over gland filled water. THERE ARE LOTS OF GLANDS HERE. Dont be a pussy, squeeze hard....

You should be left with something like this...

Then I like to cover the top and put it in the fridge over night. You dont HAVE to put it in the fridge, I find the glands stick together better and settle quicker. To each there own...

At LEAST 3-6 hours later, once the glands have fallen to the bottom, we are ready for extraction... I use the aquarium hose to syphen the top layer of water, being careful not to put the hose too deep and disturb the glands at the bottom. Spyphon to the 2nd bucket, leaving only maybe a 1/4" of water above the gumby...

Cover the 2nd bucket with the water you spyphoned and put it off to the side.
So, take your nearly empty bucket of hashy water and empty it into a masons jar of adequate size, cover and stick it in the fridge...

2 hours later, spyphon the top layer of water from the mason jar into the 2nd bucket of water. Cover it and let it sit for a day. Well try to see what else settles later if we want...
What your left with should be almost all wet hashy gumby. Empty it into a pyrex baking dish, put it into a warm enviroment to dry. DO NOT BAKE IT!!! You should be left with something like this...

From here you can wrap your ball in a coffee filter once its semi-dry and squeeze out any water. At this point your ball of glands should be dry enough to stick together and when you squeeze you lose water, not product.
Then, I leave it in the coffee filter to dry for a couple days. The coulor will change from what you see in my palm to a more dark brown/hash colour as it drys. I got 20 grams off this maybe 3 zips of shake/trim. 2nd run through a few more grams. The more trim the more gumby you make. Not bad for a days work.

Peace!

Now that's a hunka hash worthy of a 250! Nicely done. Thanks for the demo. I occasionally get too much trim for iso and this would be perfect.

Thanks DB!

Ive never tried ISO, leary I guess. Is it a simple method?
I would like to pick up a screen so I can try dry sifting...

Cheers,

It's easy and you don't have to purge like you might with BHO or other petroleum solvents.

I put the trim in a water tight container and add enough ISO to saturate. A 20 to 30 second shake, then it's poured through a permanent coffee filter and into a dish. It takes a few hours for the alcohol to evaporate. The small percentage of water in the iso takes a bit longer so dry trim adds less water to the mix.

As soon as the liquid is evaporated, (~12 hours - or less if you use a fan) you can scrape the residue with a safety razor.

I've got another QP of some overdried, but still chronic buds from last years outdoor run... Im still deciding what to do with it. Im not going to smoke it so hash it will be!
