So it's coming down to the wire here. Probably another few days on the organic NL, and some purple is coming through on her...
The larger NL got regular synthetic nutes and definately came out different.
I may have gotten two pheno's, but the organiclly fed NL smells so fruity and the other smells like shit. Literally, in a good way.
I never flower in the Veg side but I had 2 extra females and I decided to flower under 100w CFL's organically for shits and giggles.
I took a cut of the first plant in my post a few weeks ago, and she is vegging out elsewhere and going to be my mother plant. I took some clones off 4 plants last night as well. After the NL's finish up in the 250w flower room I'll move the rooted clones in, and eventually give them 250w MH for a week or so before doing a SOG.
Yes'ir built it from scratch. Trial and error on a few smaller setups and lots of reading on this site helped me with the design. Much thanks to Disco Buscuit for helping me with idea's on the stand off light trap.
So Im chopping one tommorow night. Damn does she look and smell tasty. I dropped the ambient temps in the room a few degrees for the dark period during flush and it has brought out some amazing purples...
How did you lower your temps?
What kind of building tools did you use, I live in a condo and don't have much besides a hammer and screwdriver and am tight on cash but would like to build my own pretty much a photo copy of yours and was wondering what would be needed.
I really like how you lowered the temps though to get those purples to come through!
Growbox420- I run my lights at night, and in my parts this time of year it get's cold so it's as simple as opening the window a bit during the day. A healthy stream of cold air is available all day and the temps dip down to about 60-63 F. During light hours I run steadily at 77 degrees so there is about a 15 degree swing during lights out. The organic NL is showing way more purple and smells like a heaping pile of warm sugar so I plan on using her clone as my mother plant.
GrowBox420- As far as building tools goes, I had a garage and lot's of tools at my disposal. I could have probably done it with less but the finished product might have not been a nice IMHO.
You will definately need a cutting tool (jigsaw, tablesaw, skillsaw etc.) or have your plywood precut at the building store.(3) 4'x8' sheets of plywood. You will need 2 sizes of hole saws ( 4'' for exhaust and 2'' for intake.) 9 PVC black 90 degree elbows. Filter material. Carpenters glue. I used a brad nailer( finishing nailer) but you could get away with a hammer I suppose. 90 degree leveling square. Flat white paint. Black paint. 1/4'' chain to hang your light. Screws. Deck stain. A tupper ware tote. Inline fan good to 175 cfm ( vortex). Speed controller. 250w ballast and fixture ( I have a 400w dimmable lumatek ballast and cooltube). 4'' vent trunking. Material to build a 16" carbon scrubber. 3 80mm comp fans. 4 23w cfl's. 2 screw in light sockets. 2 y adapters to fit 2 lights in 1 socket. Measuring tape. Patience. If you want exact dimensions let me know or any other building help.
It's always hard for me to chop for some reason. Maybe because I enjoy the growing end of it a little more, I guess. Dont get me wrong; I do enjoy slurpin' on a fresh fruity bat, gettin' resin on my teeth kind of smoke.
I'd say Im going to let the larger NL go another 5 days maybe a week. She took a little longer, many colas, and never got topped once. Only tied the main brach on a 45 degree angle to bring the height down a smidge. Smells really rotten. Almost like shit and rotten sugar mixed.
And here's a shot of whats going on in the veg room that Im using to flower with right now. 100w CFL's on 2 NL's organic. Ive got a 150w HPS laying around and a small cool tube so Im thinking about swapping it out for the CFL's.
