Dear NCCPN Member,

A Call To Action:

It is time for the patients of NC to demand dignity and equal treatment and protection under the law.

HB-577, The NC Medical Cannabis Act, which will provide safe, legal access to cannabis for patients and researchers is now being held in the Rules Committee. We only have until June 6th to move this bill into Health and passed so it can cross-over into the Senate by the deadline of June 6th.
Join Us: Wednesday May 18th, 9am.

Drug War Veterans for Truth!

We will meet at 9am on Wednesday, May 18th, with patients, veterans, business owners, people needing work, researchers, media and interested parties on the grassy lawn between the legislative office buildings on Jones Street. We will carry a can, shipped from Research Triangle Institute in Raleigh, to one of the four remaining "legal" patients in America and autographed by Irvin Rosenfeld, the longest living legal patient, a stock broker in Boca Raton, Florida.

Make Your Voice Heard and walk the halls of the NC legislature with us. Now is the Time for All Good Citizens to Come to the Aid of the Sick and Suffering in NC!
The Rules Committee:

Medical Benefits

Rules Committee Chair, Rep. LaRogue, is the legislator who accused our President, Perry Parks, of appearing in his office while intoxicated on cannabis and said he "smelled like marijuana". He is also the Representative that says, "Now, the Republicans are in control!".

Does this mean if a Republican were the main sponsor like in these other states that are passing compassionate legislation then he would help move it forward?

Is he playing politics with the lives of NC's sick and suffering patients and veterans? .

Join Us: Wednesday, May 18th, 9am. Raleigh, NC
Be There If You Care!
Also, learn the history of hemp in NC and read about 46 native Smoky Mountain medicinal plants in the upcoming book by NCCPN Executive Director, Jean Marlowe, entitled, "Smoky Mountain Secrets" - Folk Remedies for the Nature Lover, which will be available for purchase in July. Check out the book's Facebook page by searching the Title of Smoky Mountain Secrets on FB.

Together, we can change history in NC for compassion and common sense in government.

Sincerely,
Jean Marlowe

^^Died before it reached the floor. Had almost literally zero traction or momentum. It'll be a long-ass time before North Carolina does anything.

I forget who, NORML or ASA predicts reform in NC is ten years out or longer. NC has the first conservative legislature since reconstruction and a governor who's previously said she'll veto any mmj bill that crosses her desk. If Perdue is elected to two terms and holds to her 2008 rhetoric, reform is a goner until after 2016.

Can't you guys take it to a vote like we're doing in Ohio?

IMO, NC would have run into problems with the feds. Last I checked, NC's most recent bill limited grows to 25' x 10'.:yoinks: That's a pretty generous limit.

Yea the bill was very liberal, it's a shame it didn't pass. North Carolina could have been the California of the east coast :)

NC already has some pretty lenient laws regarding cultivation...even less than california where you can face 2-3 years.....NC laws according to norml cultivation or possession of less than 10lbs for sale is less than 12 months in jail....30 months for 50lbs....plus they have first time offender diversion programs!

sounds like a nice place....i saw a bunch of hot girls everywhere on layover in charlotte too....and saw hundreds of big greenhouses from the air....

The difference between NC and Cali is, in NC they are almost ALWAYS going to follow the book and they are actively looking for growers, smugglers, smokers, etc. In Cali you almost have to be trying to be bothered. The NORML "laws" are not how it really goes down. For example, had a friend get caught with 16 8 inch plants and was facing 1.5yrs. Another got caught with some weight and ended up doing 3.5yrs. It might be the new South, but it's still the South. And what you saw in the airport is known as G.R.I.T.S. ;)
