noobie needs help w/ lighting

these plants are all a week apart i took them out of the ez clone in groups of three with the last group being pulled last night right now they are under a 400 wt mh on a track mover i want to put them under my 1000 wt mh on the mover but dont want to stress the newest ones out how long should i wait to switch the 400 to the 1000?thanks fam peace.

If the newer ones arent wilting under the 400s,I'd keep them under the lower wattage for another week.Normally I use flourescents for newly rooted cuts but HID's can be used at a distance.It's always better with new cuts and HID's if you keep them at a good distance and slowly move them down,HID's too close to a newly rooted cut can kill it quickly.I'd wait at least another week before trying the 1K and then start at around 30 inches.In my experince I can grow bushier more productive cuts if I start with flourescent tubes at 1/2 inch above the tops.You need to keep HID's at a distance at first which can induce stretching whereas with flo's they dont grow up too much the first 2 weeks,the leaves increase in size and the plants become bushy.Then I hit the HID's.

ok thats what ill do thanx american,i thought since the 400 was on a mover it would be ok and not so intense like just sitting in one spot.
i dont have enough flouros to cover the area never went this big before.

are you planning on useing both 400 + 1k later? do u have a MH ->hps bulb? (ive been told an MH ballast will ignite a HPS bulb) 400 for now 1k soon. the roots will establish very fast within a week there ready for 1k.

I believe it's the other way around, hippy. HPS ballast will light an MH bulb.

haha could be, i had my mh ballast repaired by Sunsystems and the guy totaly tested it with a HPS bulb infront of me. it ignited and everything.
dosent mean he knew what he was doing. or that it was safe.

after 3-4 weeks you should notice a "growth spurt" period of time where they plants will really begin to take off and start branching out......that is always a good time to have the 1000 Watt bulb on top of things, as it is the most efficient use of lumens/watt/gram plant tissue.....

Please be safe when it comes to HID ballasts and bulbs......i see your point jekyllandhide and DIGITALHIPPY, it is good to know those things, but newbies should realize that veterans of indoor growing always respect the bulbs and ballasts (and electricity in general).....i know you're not advocating the misuse of bulbs here and actually are trying to educate the public.....

hey you should get a digital that ignites both 600mh and 600hps. no need for 400w. run 1 600mh veg straight out of the cloner..dual 600hps for flower.yeah its three bulbs and ballasts but their all interchangeable. hortilux makes a cool 600 conversion bulb. or you could run dual sixes for veg and flower...i've found this works a lot better than a single granny. make that grow explode..

dvs i see what you mean but i have 3 rooms to run after this first grow ill have a florescent room 4 the cloner the 6/18 room and then the flower room that u can see in this pic that way it just keeps on goin like the energizer bunny lol
