Noob Kush Temp/Water Questions

Hey all! Long time reader, first time poster. Just started my first closet grow. I'm using a 3x3x8 closet in my bedroom. I have 2 bubba cuts, 2 master kush cuts, & 2 blackberry bubba kush cuts (I'm from LA so we love our Kush). My issue is that my closet is running kinda hot right now. About 80-85 w/ light on. I read somewhere that Kush's like it hotter. Is this the case because everyone is telling me to keep it @ about 75-80.

Another question is what does everyone do about water? I've just been taking tap water and putting them in water bottles and letting them sit out for a day or 2. It's been fine, but now I want to start feeding them ferts and I need a better method.

I want to say thanks to everyone on this site for the help. I would'nt have set this up without the help of people here

safe

Hey Soso-

IMO, growing indoors yields beter results - both quality and quantity with lower temps in comparison to higher temps.

I grow in a cabinet as well and try to keep the inside temps as clase to ambient temps as possible, usually within 2-3 degrees F. I never allow the cab temps to rise above 80F and never allow flowering temps to rise aboe 75F and try to keep them below 70F the last half of flowering, as colder temps yield more trichs, IMO.

As for water, I do the same thing. My tap water is hard (135ppm total hardness as CaCO3) which seems to be beneficial and pretty heavy on chlorine, which is not good for my plants. I fill up two 1gal jugs and let htem sit out for a few days with an air stone in each, driven by a small aquarium pump, to help dechlorinate the water before I water my plants or mix it with nutes.

When I mix up ferts, I let them sit for 48hours as well and make enough to last a few waterings.

For example, right now I have 2 plants 6 weeks into flower. I use FloraNova nutes, which are 1 part (1 for veg and 1 for flower) and supplement the mix with Botanicare Sweet for increased carbohydrate production.

Both plants are growing in 1gal pots and require about a half gallon of water to just saturate the soil and have just enough runoff to test TDS and pH. I water them no more than 3 times per week, as I allow them to dry out completely before watering again - that way the roots grow, in searching for water. Doing the math, that is 3 gallons of nute solution a week.

I fill up 2 1gal jugs with tap water and let them sit for a day, then add my nutes and sweet and let sit for another day. I water my plants with one of the gallons of solution and have the other for 2-3 days later. In that time I repeat the fillup process for the third watering.

Not too complicated - just remember that Cl = Bad

hey soso let me guess you hit calm. lol ok temps are fine its just the weather right now yur cab will drop about 4-7 ambient degrees by thursday which is perfect your temps are fine kushes will love you even more with 75-78 degree temps.trust me. as to water yes theya re going to need about a quarter strength of nutes so .. just go easy the first 2 feeedings let them get some roots. ok. otherwse depending on where in la you are your water is very hard ranging from 170ppm to 330ppmwith a ph of about 8. so get some ph down and start giving them ladies6.0-6.2 if you are soil or soiless.

Swerve you're the man. You got it I did get from the calm. First started from some cuts from our boy gthumb but had bad luck w/ mites so had to start over. It was a nice little intro to growing and at least i know what those little suckers look like. Anyway can you or anyone tell me how to measure the "hardness" of my water? My PH looks about 6.5-7 (can't tell the exact shade of green off the bottle) which is around neutral I think, but I'm not sure on the ppm

thanks again all

get a ph and a ppm meter those are crucial. especially in la my friend.. my water varies from 170ppm all the way to 330 at times. its funny my ph is stable at 8. which is rather alkaline for my taste...lol yeah i ahve been meaning to go to calm the owner wants a nice meet and greet with me. but h0nestly if you really want dank kush you ahve to get a ph and ppm meter . a must... trust me you will never look back once you ahve those then you will be able to give you plants exactly what they need.

So I dropped $150 on PH & DTS meters. I have a PH of 7.4 so I lowered it down to about 6.2 but my PPM is 170. Is that cool? And if not how do I go about correcting it?

yeah that fine your water isnt to ahrd then thats a good thing and wow your ph is not bad. im in the sfv so i got crazy shitty water. your good to go now just get them ababies growing once they start to take off give them some food. say 3-400ppm to start after they get growin

swerve i took your advice and just gave them a 1/4 nutes for the first feeding. so i took some tap water and filled up a 5 gal bucket. brought down the ph to about 6.3 and tested the ppm and it was about 177. I dropped in my airstone and let it sit overnight. tested again and water was perfect. now is where i'm tripp'n...

i put in my sensi grow a&b, sensizym, & humic acid and let it sit with an airstone for one more day. the next day i tested the nut'd water and the ppm shot up to like 890. i'm assuming obviously that this is because of the nutes, but is this all good? i gave this to 2 of my master kush's and now some of the leaves are curling up and over. i'm a first timer so i don't know if this is a normal reaction to getting nutes for the first time or what.

also i was looking at this reverse osmosis that was like $200 online. i've heard good things about using RO water for plants. anybody have any input if it's even worth it?

oh wow dude you gave them way to much start by flush the piss out of them with normal ph6 water only water.. usually about 3 times the amount of water to soil so if you arae using a gallon container of soil then you need at least 3 gallon s of fresh water.. you burned them gave them too much nutes.

always start with like 2-400 ppm at first.
also put your nutes in before you do your ph.
so flush my friend flush flush flush
