"I would now say that all of duality – the human need to split things into pairs like good and evil – is just a symptom."
Hello! What a great way to put it in to perspective. I lov this.

Within the Gita are important ingredients to help with understanding this "just" way of thinking

On the battlefield of Karu at the beginning of the war between the two families, the Pandavas, and the Kauravas the Gita took place.

"Arjuna, overwhelmed with dread and pity at the thought of death for all puts down his weapon in the middle of the battlefield and doesn't want to fight."

Krishsna Steps in and begins the "teaching about life, deathlessness, duty, non attachment, the self, love, spiritual practice, and the inconceivable depths of reality."

The rest is history.

TMU god means a number of things God i need to take a shit, God i got a headache, god do i have a hang over today ..etc lol
To think there is a all mighty GOD is crazy.. yes there are a select few that can control the masses , they can change the outcome of things does it make them a God ,,, for instance Obama passes a bill that you now pay 30 percent more taxes does this have a impact on you ??? or a country as a whole ..
If Iran wants to have nuclear power,, why shouldn't they be allowed ??? why does american get to stick there noses into other peoples affairs .... could they be the evil ,,
Lets face it USA bullies, starts fights imposes embargo's on countries that do not side to them ,, and most importantly invades countries for the same reasons , label them as terrorists, kill there own by bombing or leaking some BS out to media to get the civiians afraid and on there side to start a war ..
and for what,, to litterally steal other peoples resources .. or better them selfs in one way or another
Does this make USA Good or Evil ??? or Greedy

And for your answer Can we really truly say that a person, or thing, or idea is “Evil?”
Are paedophiles evil? Was Hitler / Stalin / Mao / Pol Pot evil? What about ideas? Can a concept like communism / fascism be called evil?

The distinction between good and evil is an example of duality. Duality basically means splitting things into two. Usually, at least in philosophical conversations, the two parts are opposites: hot and cold; present or absent; or the classic: good and evil. This idea of duality is firmly enmeshed in human culture and thinking. I’ll spare you the history lesson, but I do recommend a quick Wikipedia read on Dualism and Good and Evil.

To me, the million dollar question is whether duality is a cause or a symptom of life’s problems?
It turns out that most things we see and experience are just symptoms of much deeper instincts.

I would now say that all of duality – the human need to split things into pairs like good and evil – is just a symptom. There are deeper underlying problems that cause (a) the behaviour we call evil and (b) the need to classify things as good or evil.

In other words “evil” and “duality” are both invented concepts or labels – they don’t actually exist except as ideas in our human brain. Now just beause evil isn’t real doesn’t mean you can’t experience evil. Evil might be a good adjective for some types of behavior for instance. It just doesn’t exist as a force in the universe. For instance whilst I think that communism and fascism could be described as evil ideas, I don’t think that Stalin and Hitler were evil people. Very seriously damaged and dangerous people – yes. But “evil” is not a helpful way to describe them.

Evil has no precise meaning, so our understanding of it is cultural. Christian evil can be quite different to Moslem evil or the concept of evil in say small pacific islands with isolated communities. In my country the islanders use the word “tabu” (taboo) to describe a whole range of evils and customary obligations which I would never think of. Avoiding evil (or tabu) and talking about one’s ability for empathy avoids all this cultural subjectivity.

So the next time you want to describe someone as evil, stop for a minute and ask yourself “what is that person’s capacity for empathy?” Does that person even have the biological ability to understand other people’s feelings?

I think this distinction has extraordinary implications for how to treat “evil” in society. It is much easier to use the religious line (even unconsciously and even by atheists) and to describe someone as evil. That removes the need to stop and think about what they have done and why they did it. If we drop “evil” and seriously examine people’s psychopathology, we have a much deeper understanding of people’s behaviour and how to help (or punish) them.
Is there moral and and inmoral ideas and pratice.
And its not a matter duality. Yes we do pratice it and it is valid.night and day, up and down, still and moving, are those just a symptom? I feel you though its the conscientious perspective thats engraved it to the mind.
Still though is rape, murder, stealing a good or bad thing.
Whats is morality? And where did it perspective come from?

Seriously think about it.
Lol also how do we determine how to help or punish someone, where they're one in the same? Honestly i will admit i lack the ability to articulate the point im trying to get at. I will try and draw on some other people who covered these topics.

Im glad you turned down the hateful tone alot. Just stop rejecting my ideas and beliefs by labeling them crazy. Please and thank you.

Just please answer my question. Is it right to be a pedo or wrong?
Its obvious my answer is no

Life from under the sea?

Hot vents on the seabed could have spontaneously produced the organic molecules necessary for life, according to new research by UCL chemists. The study shows how the surfaces of mineral particles inside hydrothermal vents have similar chemical properties to enzymes, the biological molecules that govern chemical reactions in living organisms. This means that vents are able to create simple carbon-based molecules, such as methanol and formic acid, out of the dissolved CO2 in the water.

The discovery, published in the journal Chemical Communications, explains how some of the key building blocks for organic chemistry were already being formed in nature before life emerged -- and may have played a role in the emergence of the first life forms. It also has potential practical applications, showing how products such as plastics and fuels could be synthesised from CO2 rather than oil.

"There is a lot of speculation that hydrothermal vents could be the location where life on Earth began," says Nora de Leeuw, who heads the team. "There is a lot of CO2 dissolved in the water, which could provide the carbon that the chemistry of living organisms is based on, and there is plenty of energy, because the water is hot and turbulent. What our research proves is that these vents also have the chemical properties that encourage these molecules to recombine into molecules usually associated with living organisms."

The team combined laboratory experiments with supercomputer simulations to investigate the conditions under which the mineral particles would catalyse the conversion of CO2 into organic molecules. The experiments replicated the conditions present in deep sea vents, where hot and slightly alkaline water rich in dissolved CO2 passes over the mineral greigite (Fe3S4), located on the inside surfaces of the vents. These experiments hinted at the chemical processes that were underway. The simulations, which were run on UCL's Legion supercomputer and HECToR (the UK national supercomputing service), provided a molecule-by-molecule view of how the CO2 and greigite interacted, helping to make sense of what was being observed in the experiments. The computing power and programming expertise to accurately simulate the behaviour of individual molecules in this way has only become available in the past decade.

"We found that the surfaces and crystal structures inside these vents act as catalysts, encouraging chemical changes in the material that settles on them," says Nathan Hollingsworth, a co-author of the study. "They behave much like enzymes do in living organisms, breaking down the bonds between carbon and oxygen atoms. This lets them combine with water to produce formic acid, acetic acid, methanol and pyruvic acid. Once you have simple carbon-based chemicals such as these, it opens the door to more complex carbon-based chemistry."

Theories about the emergence of life suggest that increasingly complex carbon-based chemistry led to self-replicating molecules -- and, eventually, the appearance of the first cellular life forms. This research shows how one of the first steps in this journey may have occurred. It is proof that simple organic molecules can be synthesised in nature without living organisms being present. It also confirms that hydrothermal vents are a plausible location for at least part of this process to have occurred.

The study could also have a practical applications, as it provides a method for creating carbon-based chemicals out of CO2, without the need for extreme heat or pressure. This could, in the long term, replace oil as the raw material for products such as plastics, fertilisers and fuels.

This study shows, albeit on a very small scale, that such products, which are currently produced from non-renewable raw materials, can be produced by more environmentally friendly means. If the process can be scaled up to commercially viable scales, it would not only save oil, but use up CO2 -- a greenhouse gas -- as a raw material.

I wonder why this is Are there any theories?

Well there is lots of water being released as polar ice melts and water has a fairly substantial amount of weight. So imagine the pressure changes to the tectonic plates as all that ice melts releasing the water to flow to other parts of the world. That could be part of it.

....and imagine the space underground that held the billions of gallons of petrol we've extracted and burned. what was practically solid (incompressible) oil is now honeycombed and no longer supporting what lies above.

i believe whats being mentioned is a factor.whats scary is never have humans so altered the earth.its not just petro were extracting.there is a very large amount of minerals being mined. whole mountains are dissapearing for coal.the daming of water.the injection of water into the earths crust.oklahoma is a great example of this. not only are we extracting all the petro from under the great plains but also water is being used faster than the ground can replace it.water is being taken from one spot where it belonged and pumped under ground in a spot where it didnt exist.

Indeed. Cool thought.

Try not to imagine the over 130 million gallons they spilt into the Gulf of Mexico that seemingly disappeared. I suspect it's pooled nicely somewhere deep...

I've been eating out of that body of water my entire life. I will say this from firsthand experience rather than any study that's been done. I've noticed on certain things like lobster tails and shrimp, black splotches in places I don't remember seeing coming up.

Just heard yesterday there are questions regarding the safety of food from the Gulf.

What's the saying?

"We don't inherit the Earth from our ancestors. We borrow it from out children."

americans aren't often aware of the british "paedo" hysteria .. iirc "the brass eye" did an episode on it.. anyway.. an angry mob did actually assault a woman when they found out she was a "pediatrician".

so, i hope you'll understand that it is out of a great desire not to see the innocent come to harm, that i tell you, remember pedo is feet, bro. never you mind about what someone like is a foot.

the theology does dominate, seems right, not much blood shed over physics arguments
theology has a more mass appeal, for good or ill depending on viewpoint
so here's an idea i read in fiction
saying if the parallel universes notion is the right one, or righter one
with infinite universes could god exist in certain universe and not others
plausible? never could decide on it myself
but when you have infinities of universes, strange things will appear

Good point, a honeycombed sub surface would be more likely to shift and break with sudden weight changes but I'm not sure that would affect things like tectonic plate shifts which is where most major earthquakes start. It should however be able to cause smaller more proximity related earthquakes (ones near where the oil was removed).
