NL#5

N

NoddaPuppet

i wasn't happy at all with the pheno's i last found in their NL#5xHaze on the last run, 1 plant in particular was nothing like NL#5xHaze, if it was someone else who grew it and showed me the plant i never would of guessed it was NL#5xHaze, had this weird fruit aroma, no depth or character to the smell at all,

when i ran the line in '07 it was a different kettle of fish tho - superior plants found, so maybe i was just unlucky with the last pheno's i found?

peace

:bigeye: it all comes out in the wash, tho sum wouldn't interpret even if they got hit over the head with proof, lol most seed comps & their "see this" (1in100-1000massgreenhousecut) "you can buy a pack of these and have that" lol not even in 10pks, , lol . .

For those like shanti & simon representing it real :respect:

never heard of the p91 nor another up in Canada called "Earl"....but its funny that both have come outa the woodwork in the last 2yrs?....and no docs what so ever...hmmmm...you make the call for your self on that fellaz cause the details are as seedy as the scene....
I gave this cut to folks on the west coast(Oregon)...

pics would help..heres what I keep handy for NL with both shown in the Older ver of NL#5 that I keep found in a pk of BCSC NL#5 Reefermans (pure) circa 96/97/98?....other is also BCSC post 2001...quite the diff...
Ive doc'd this for over 10 yrs...publicly for 4yrs...got pics for days....
if ya got a NL...show it....
FOE20

Are they your pics FOE20 because i have all them pics saved on my hard drive from 2 years ago....
From what i remember NL was made from an afghani mum and a thai dad in north america then travelled to holland in the 80's were the dutch played round with it:fsu: and it turned commercial and was inbred thus loosing all the thai influence..Both pheno's i got from my sensi NL pack were short compact early finishing but the male i got looks like it has thai in it ive got it next to my sam's othaze x skunk#1 and the leaves look very similar plus it took a little bit longer to flower than the females ill upload some pics soon just hafto sort through some also got some nirvanas nl pics ill upload aswell...

hey Kopite....naaa not yet but Ive heard the Thai He used is powerful...funny you mention that as Ive heard better reports on the TLights than his NL...
but seems JWeed gets a better over all rating for a quality NL...Ive got a Chem4 x NL(JW) goin now and its lookin very "newer-age" NL..,,but with the Chem mixed in it will be hard to say much on it...but notice the pics?...similar foliage and very Afghan looking to me...the NL#5 is my momma and the ChemDxNL is grown by a friend but a lil over dosed N atm..

Both pheno's i got from my sensi NL pack were short compact early finishing but the male i got looks like it has thai in it
hola Benji...I'd lov to see pics of these as I havn't run Sensi's ver yet..
also yes sir...every pic and every comment made on the pics is my own work...grows, n shows...I never hit a public forum publicly until 2004...first place was ICmag (with hg4**) but since then my account has changed 2x..that last revamp really took out allot of old posts..but all my pics are still here n tact..

One thing on the quality of the seed tho....Not all is that viable
Ive also run Reefs OPTxNL#5? with no germ at all..

with seeds its hit n miss really....I mean unless you get the Real cut of whatever your lookin for its a crap shoot...
Im wanting to try a few of the older NL hybs but as ppl say its real blurry and not very comparable to the older lines....Not sure what happened but seems right around mid-late 90's Breeders really started to infuse weaker genetics to help yields..I dont feel all Dutch was bad or is bad...my bro ran DP x GorillaGold OD last yr and it was the stand out of a rather well set crowd of strains....this breeding for Yield was/is a world wide bad thing...
KC Brains?....yea his work is really hit n miss but man ya gata get the beans to germ first..which has always been a issue with KCB....
Im not a KCB fan as Ive run a few and still lookin....
Nirvanas Hindu Kush is a disaster in pheno types...dont even think I found a solid Kush in those...heh...

I always thought the Original Lines only had certain varieties in them....There was never a Super-Kush or Bubba/OG types in the old seed catalogs but there was Affi#1, A/K, Hindu Kush (said pure LRace), HPlant (said derived from 2 landraces)..and more along these lines...
folks didnt even get into Kush until well into 90's as Affi was more dominant as a Breeding tool back then...

Simon is Serious right?....yes those cats know wtf their doin...

also found part of the old thread I posted here...with some other pics to....also in the pics the ones tagged "NL#5" is the older BCSC pk from late 90's...ones tagged "BCSC NL#5" is the Newer pk but aprox same circa and gifted to me from motarebel..He also gave me 2 other NL stocks....plus Ive got NL stock from works that were "outside" breeding co's at the time...Ive got a good 8-10 types of NL stock and only 1/2 if that was seed Co made...rest was from old heads that dont do the web much....heh

Nice FOE20 i loved them pics :respect: bro i will be picking up some BCSC nl#5 asap...
Ill put them pics up soon just sorting through em...

hmm, guess no1 around knows much about Kc Brains version of NL, only thing i can say about it is final product very light and airy nugs (maybe due to curing tho?) and a very interesting almost citrusy aroma, not much smell to it at all and very very hairy and almost a yellow color to the bud, very interesting bud, ive been told by a couple old heads that its "old school" type smoke. would like others info and opinions because i think the grower could have done better so hard to give an accurate opinion unless grown properly.

iv'e grown the KC NL# speacial. it is strong but i say you get tolerent of it quick. and i have'nt found this with other NL#s .
but dont get me wrong the first few tokes can blow you away man. id say its just finding the right pheno. i also noticed poor germ rate like 6/10 seeds. but i hear this can be a problem with northern light strains in general.
grows with one main cola but still good yeilding. ikv'e got a pic somewhere il try and post it.

but all in all if you take the price in too it its a great choice man. and i will grow it again at some time. :joint:

also id say moderate to difficult too grow. not easy like a lot of growers say NL# is.
peace mick

PS. the two pics i found of KCs NL# speacial both from the same plant.

The pistils are long and thin on my NL special, and yes there are a lot of them. Strange lookin....

i've got half a dozen NL bagseeds from the early 90's - im in UK i guess the original seeds must have been bought from sensi - wasnt that the only european seedbank selling seeds at that time??
also got an atomic NL growing at the moment which looks nice - question for anyone who has grown out ATOMIC NL - is it pretty uniform or are there different pheno's?

thanks

---it was pretty uniform when i grew it, lets see, 5 years ago or so. seemed more sativa than indy in growth pattern, but knockout indy high.

hmmm....dogsnob.....you been holding out man...heh....

looks good Benji....a lil re-flowered in that pic of the bud tho but the form does look much more "Sat" even tho were noyt talking Sat...

Were talkin 2 types that I look for mainly....If it was a Affi/Kush hybrid then the Affi is a Taller Afghan and prob a Stretch Indica as DJ would say....
or as I would say a Low or Mid-Land Afghani and not a True Sativa..
the Kush was a Highland solid Indica...

now we can see and even have a lil understanding of who has what seed co wise...but thats what I look for...The Sat form or leaf form doesn't go Long Bladed Sativa in later bloom like a real Sativa dom would...The way NL keeps a more compact over al structure is a good sign of the original Genes...Cause the orig Genes said.."Short, sticky fast finishing" which NL is...
But its 9-10wks Fast finishing and for a Pure Indica thats not the Fastest....but it is a Indica Dom hybrid variety indeed..

Cool Mick, really appreciate the reply, its nearly impossible to find info. on this strain by kc brains, i think no1 likes kc brains too much. If you have any more pics would be really cool and interesting and a smoke report, or really any info., pics, etc u got on kcs version of this strain.

NL# speacial

NL# speacial

yea i got one more pic of KC brains NL# speacial il put it up along with one of the others.

anyways on the subject of KCs NL# its not easy to grow cause what happened with me was the seeds had a poor germ rate 5/6 out of ten and i only got 2 maybe one female.
and i rate myself as a good germ grower. and thats the main reason id say its a mod/difficult too grow strain. so i will be growing it again to get some more phenos to see how good a strain it is.
once you get it vegging there should be no problem finnishing off. thats all i can remmember man as its a good few grows ago. a great tasting strain when smoked as all NL#s are. great buzz most peeps say NLs got a heavy indica buzz id say its more allround and defo one of the best smokes out there man. :joint:

anyways heres the other pic along with the cola shot. so to finnish KCs NL # Speacial is well recommended just find the right pheno and your laughing man.

peace mick :joint:

Try Seedsman NL

Try Seedsman NL

Not sure where Seedsman come from but the smNL I have seen and tasted is very quick flowering (7wks) tight low leaf buds, very bushy, sticky and with slight citrus smell. Hearty ez2 clone.
Looks like those 2 year old pics or whatever.

Just the facts:2cents:

If only they would germ...

If only they would germ...

Just wanted to put some input regarding Thai genetics in NL.
The bulk seeds you see below are from '92/'93 and are f3's made from F2's given to me in '91 by one of the guys whose rooms I had my first step's towards growing cannabis in. They were NorthernLiights from a few years earlier from either SensiSeeds or Nev's Seedbank stock...not sure which,to be honest. The 3 from other jar were from same returned jar but not sure if same.
Anyway they were returned to me with some other bits by my sis after many years thought lost....Only problem is these are some of the oldest seeds I got back and were not stored properly just stored amongst junk.I have tried to germ over 90 of them and only had 1 sprout that soon died last year. I will keep trying but not too hopeful..Any old seed-germing suggestion's appreciated but have tried most things I think. Anyway enough bawling from me...
The point I wanna make is that when I first grew out f2's of said pure NL seed's as a whippersnapper,I remember getting some very Thai/EquatorialSativa pheno's some very Thai smelling along with the pineyness and with diabolical Foxtailing. Some more mutant looking ones reminded me of that Quaze strain. Thats the only NL I've grown that showed it but it was from seeds of a relatively early version of NL. Some of those Thai-like ones were Ridiculously strong and pretty racy and some went for 12wks or more.
These old F3's I've been failing to awaken were from a mixed pollination of 2 males and 3 females(one each of which being Afghanica pheno,Thai-ish pheno and Mutant Thai pheno),don't remember exactly what dads were like but one was short and one stretchy both reeked.
So there was deffo Thai in some of the NL around in those days IMHO....JBo:joint:

hey londinium i have a few NL bagseeds from that era too which im gonna try and sprout soon (couple of haze seeds as well)

if you havent already tried it then putting them in a freezer for a couple of weeks may break the long term dormancy. then out into a warm place for a couple of days before you soak em.

interesting about the thai traits though

good luck
V.
