Where the fuck do you live that somebody has the man chasin' 'em into your crib in the first place? I realize that you don't need any more hindsight wisdom but please do grab that NORML Freedom Card and memorize it. A quick once over of the Constitution might be reassuring as well. People tend to forget that we actually do have rights buried under all of this Patriot Act / Fear of Terrorists bullshit.
Do0d, grow up and learn ti LIVE in this days' REALITY...Pleading the Constitution and some such shit won't get you ANYWHERE without massive $$$, excellent lawyers and a Supreme Court appearance...

ITMT, you rot in JAIL...then LOSE...
Pat me down at the Court House...fuck them! What are they...Catholic priests? If I wanted the fat old fuck judge dead that bad I'd jump the bench and rip his fuckin' chest out. Geezuz I hate these assholes. It's about nothing more than control and money, and they won't be happy till they have a bar code on every fucking one of our foreheads. I love the irony of using the word "Honor" when addressing a judge. He's just a lawyer who managed to suck enough dicks to get the gig. What's so fucking honorable about any of it? It's almost as funny as when those talking pieces of shit in Congress start calling each other "honorable".
You got SERIOUS reality issues...READ and LEARN...

I too have experience with legal battles. 1st things 1st. NO prosecutor ever wants to go to trial UNLESS they have enough evidence to surely convict. When the state loses a trial they have to pay for it. For instance,in Washington a drug case can cost upwards of 100k. That is why they always seek a plea bargain! In 1996 I had my door kicked in after being watched. They found over a kilo of cocaine, triple beams and various firearms. I ended up keeping my mouth closed and said NOTHING! I went thru 2 trials with 2 hung jurys before taking a plea. I only took the plea for fear of getting 10 years with all sorts of deadly weapon enhancements that would have seen my release date last year!

My point in all this is the prosecutor may offer you a better deal(anything to get the conviction) If not then go to trial and try your luck. I don`t know the specifics of your case so the plea might be a good one. HMMMM....decisions decisions

thanks again guys for the good advice...
i spoke with my lawyer on friday and agreed that this is the best possible outcome for me.
I am worried now that the judge might demand a drug test before agreeing to the plea bargain.

Anita one thing about the system no matter where u areis the better the lawyer the better the deal.Better lawyers have better connections. Ask around find out what lawyers have good relations with the prosecutor. And the more $ you got the harder they will work for you. Also just my opinio but they always come at you with astronomical time to scare you. I doubt your looking at 10-20 for 20 plants. But just do your lawyer research. There's a good deal out there but you gotta find it bro. Good luck and good karma. No matter what hold your head

CherChez and Hemp are spot on. You get as much justice as you can afford, and the State, like all lawyers, never wants a trial unless absolutely unavoidable. The variables of a jury's involvement, plus the costs and time (they call it clogging up the docket) don't suit their business model - and trust me...it is first and foremost a business. The name of the game is to get as much money as they can as quickly as possible and then move on to the next unwilling customer. They have fewer and fewer places to warehouse people, so unless there are guns or violence involved, they really, really, really just want your dough - and to sign you up for the piss in a cup club (which they charge you for as well).

The variables of a jury trial are seriously complicated beyond just which lawyer does a better job of lying, er I mean advocating. Things such as your ethnicity and the demographic of where you got popped can trump evidence on any given day. Spend a little time in court and watch a few cases. I'm not pickin' on anybody or tryin' to make any kind of statement but there's a reason that the tort lawyers all want their cases heard in court rooms that draw from an urban jury pool. The outcome is never predictable, but there are statistical averages that definitely swing one way or the other.

The political climate of the jurisdiction, as well as the political aspirations of the D.A. and where you are in the election cycle, also play an important role. If you get a hard case that's big on locking everybody up, and their constituency loves that...well you probably don't want to ever risk a trial there. If the judges used to be defense lawyers and the general feeling of the people in the jurisdiction is one of not being particularly paranoid about weed (ala California), and maybe the D.A. is lookin' to retire...maybe it's worth a shot. Bein' in N.J., I would hesitate to ever want to risk a trial. The odds of a perfect storm are way too high. Newly elected officials, fiscal pressures State-wide, a less than enlightened governmental attitude about weed and drugs in general, could all conspire to really throw ya a curve.

Wouldn't hurt to try and get cleaned out beforehand just in case the judge orders some kind of pre-sentence investigation bullshit. I think there was an earlier warning made here about how that can come back to bight ya in the ass. Be smart, chill out, and make sure that your lawyer is only half an idiot (check his past cases...remember - they lie for a living and win or lose they still get paid).
