Can the water have chlorine in it? The reason I ask is I'm about to flush 18 plants in 3 gallon pots, I've got about 10 gallons sitting out now bubbling plus 10 gallons of RO water in my two big jugs, but that's enough for what, two or three plants? So, I've got to bubble out and pH adjust 90 gallons!? Yikes, not the end of the world but that's a lot of work.
Grassroots:
No chlorine at all and flush with as much water as you can up to 3x but don't worry to much if it's not 3x rather than say 2x.
Soulman:
You may want to bring your runoff down a bit as you may get some lockout at that ph level. Try getting it down to atleast 6.5 or if you can 6.2 .
If a flush is necessary shouldn't his pH readings be low? If there is a buildup of salts doesn't that normally result in a lower than normal pH for the runoff? And isn't the purpose of flushing to rid the medium of built up salts, or can it also be to simply change the pH of the medium? Just asking in case he doesn't need to flush, I'll let the experts chime in on that.
I flush in week 4 of flower just to clean the soil of possible salt buildup and rebalance my soil makeup so that i will have no problems later in flowering to affect my over all yield. This is what I do and it works for me very well IMHO.
In general, a flush is necessary when your soil makeup is out of whack for one reason or another causing negative reactions from your girls.Suggesting a flush will allow you to balance the soil PH which in turn allows your plants to properly uptake the necessary nutrients it needs to be healthy and grow properly. Sometimes it's hard to know why your girls are reacting negatively so a flush allows you to kind of start all over again and right the ship sort of speak. Many times i've had to flush my soil with ph'd water to balance it because of one thing or another ( especially when i change nutes ). I hope this makes sense as i've rambled long enough and you propbably all ready know this....LOL.
Its perfectly natural for lower leaves to yellow and die. Are you SURE there is a problem? Some pics would help. Low soil temps will cause nute lock-outs as well.
