Nitrogen deficiency?

i've got some plants that are looking pretty healthy, except for yellowing, dying leaves towards the bottom of the plant, i'm a month and a half into veg

How long has this problem been going on? About 2-3 weeks
Are you growing in a PVC grow tent? (example: Hydrohut or any other non brand tents) No.
What system are you running? (DWC? Ebb flow? Aero? Water Farm? Flood Tables? and so on...)
What STRAIN are you growing? new york47, and moham ram
What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?) seed
What is the age of your plants? 1month 10 days
How long have they been in there mixture they are in now?(coco, soiless etc..) 1month 10 days
How tall are the plants? ny47=11 inches, ram=6-7 inches
What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? vegetative
What Technique are you using?
What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.)
What is the Water temperature?
What color are your roots? White? Brown? Are your roots slimy?
What Nutrient's are you using?(If growing soiless) technaflora products
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful
How often are you feeding? (If using soiless)
How often are you giving nutrients? (If using soiles
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients? -
What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect) like in example
What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using?
What is the pH of the "Tank"? 6.0
Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equiptment? yes
When was your last watering? 12 hours from watering
What is your water temps? room temp
When was your last feeding change? (ie. grow-bloom-micro-additional)
How often do you clean your system: example: Flush out water replace with clean water and nutrients? haven't cleaned it at this run yet.
What size bulb are you using? 400 watt
What is the distance to the canopy? 12 inches
What is your RH Factor(Relative Humidity)? no idea
What is the canopy temperature?
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include flucutaion range)
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ? vent fan in growspace running all day,
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? oscilating
Is your water HARD or SOFT? dont know.
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water? Tap water
Are you using water from a water softener?- no
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched? No.
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so, What and When? No.
Are plant's infected with pest's? No.

i've got a vent fan, and a oscilating fan on them pretty much all day, so i dont think its ventilation, and i dont think i've overwatered, i've been careful about that

Ok I just looked through this entire thing....and got one piece of useful information.....you say your ph is 6.0. I got no other info here about nutes, strengths, medium you are using etc .....so answering your question is pretty impossible. I seriously can't even tell if you growing in hydro or soil.

sorry i mean i'm kinda new to this im using foxfarms soil, with technaflora vegetative mix for nutrients, my tempterature range is about 65-70 daytime, 55-60 nighttime. ummm, i dont know if thats enough or not. my ph for water and nutrients is 6.5 not 6

Ok, that all sound good. Have you taken a ph reading from the runoff after you water? That's a good bit of information as well.

How big are the pots these plants are in? You say they have been in the same pots the whole time? Could they be rootbound?

55 is getting a bit low for my liking as far as temps go but I grow hydro more so than soil.....and have heard that soil plants can take lower temperatures than hydro. If anyone else know the answer to this (55 degrees too low for soil?) I'd like to know this as well.

Soulman,
Your daytime temps are too low. You should be around 75-78 daytime. When your temps are that low your plants will not respond properly and stunt growth. Also you should have a relative humidity gauge in your grow area as this is very important also. I keep mine at 50-55 % no higher or lower. Check the PH of your runoff when you water as this is very important also. Combining your PH'd water/nutes is good but you have to know what it is when you interact with your soil thus measure your runoff and adjust accordingly.
One other thing is you may not be feeding enough N in veg. Find out more about your strain requirements and adjust nute levels. I also keep my veg nute regime 1-2 weeks into flower to ensure proper N needs for the plant. What do you use for a cal/mag supplement?
You will need it! Hope this helps.

wow i feel like an idiot, but i dont even know what you mean when you say runoff, or how to test it. as for the temperature, this time of the year temperature really fluctuates where i live, so we have our heat off. i didn't think it was ever getting too cold for the plants, but i'll definitily try harder to control what its at. as for humidity, how much do humidity gauges cost, and whats the best way to control it? i appreciate the responses guys

also, tomorrow i'm gonna barrow my friends camera so i can get some pictures up, so if you guys could check back when those are up and give me some feedback, i'd really appreciate it

wsup soulman
runoff is the water that drains from the bottom after u water the soil. measuring this ph gives good indication of soil ph. humidity shouldnt be big issue unless u live in a desert or somewhere really humid..id focus more on getting ph worked out than worryin bout anything else. but thats just what i would do. and get some pictures

You can buy a temp/humidity gauge set at walmart for 10-20 bucks...recommended. It's all cool Soulman as this is always a ask, listen, learn and apply hobby.

Peace,
Jazz

good shit thanks a lot guys. ok i got a nice little heater for the room, so i'll be able to really control the temp well. umm, about the runoff. all three of the plants are in pretty big containers, to be honest i haven't even really been noticing any runoff. i take it i should start watering more, so that some runs out the bottom? how much water do you guys think would do for three plants, reaching the end of vegetation? i guess if anything i've been maybe underwatering?

you dont usually water until some comes out the bottom? How long have they been in the same container? And yes, water until it runs out the bottom, then check the ph of that. it should between 6.2-6.8. if it's off, your soil may need to be flushed.

Dont worry about your ph in soil, for the most part.
You are def too cold, nutrients are locked up at those temps. As well as they will take forever to 'dry out'. Use the weight method for watering, lift your plant up after you water it. Know that weight, check daily till you feel its WAY lighter (not drooping). There is no better way to check to see if you need water. You are possibly overwatering now.

Also, leaves will yellow and die from the bottom of plants, thats natural. Just remove and compost. Dont go and feed them a shit ton now, just change your temps first. Then in next watering feed them.
Raise your temps and feed/water with room temp water(always), you should be golden inna week.
If you dont have a pan or something under your pots to catch water/runoff, get something. That will help raise your humidity also, if needed. Keep asking questions. Lotta knowledge here!
PEACE

nice, good shit from everybody thanks a lot. i hear a lot of talk about flushing soil, how exactly do you go about doing that? say for example when i check my runoff and it's too high, how do i flush?

oh yeah and to answer you weedhound, no i hadn't been watering until it came out the bottom, i was giving them what seemed like enough water to me at the time, but none really ever came out, but then again i wasn't exactly checking, so maybe. and they've been in the same pots from seed. i stole these pots from my moms house, so i dont know the exact measurement, but they're probably at least 3-5 gallons pots

you have seedlings all together in a big pot? better get then in individual one gal. grow bags are super cheap, like 35 cents each....anyway most important is

When you water, you to do it slow so its not just runnin down the sides of a rootball. Use a catch pan (bigger the better) and water until you see it coming out the bottom. Stopping then should give you some 'runoff' but not too much, you want some. If you want to check PH from runoff, there you go. I dont. I also use a big enough pan to 'bottom water' every couple times, this helps roots search down for water, but sounds like you need to get a handle on watering by checking the weight. another reason to repot to individual pots
good luck
dude, its alot of friggin work, be prepared for it till the end, lol

whats up soulman....
the rule of flushing is 3 time the amount of your pot size 5ltr pot = 15ltr water,,,20ltr pot = 60ltr water ect ect ect .....
as above, your soil should have a buffer in it that should keep you ph in line, BUT if you ph is way off when feeding your soil will struggle to get a nice balance = lockout ....
you have to find out what the ph of you feed + check the ph of the runoff.

as for cold temps,
am not to sure on whats to cold and whats not... ive grown in temp off 52 (lights out) 72 light on, ive never had probs (i grow in coco),,,
i think it could be more down to the strain on how low the temp can go b4 probs start.....
am not saying 52 its ok/ the best (ive no option in the winter), what works for me might not work for someone else,,,mybe my plants/strains have got used to getting grown in cold temps. lol :2cents:.

keep it green
