Anybody seen plants that put out new branches instead of pre-flowers on the main stem? That's something new for me... it'd be disappointing if these 2 plants turn out to be disguised males after a month or 2... or worse - never to flower... They are the most vigorous plants and put shade onto the other 2, so I'd remove them as soon as possible if not females.

Preflowers are fickle. They can show or not, and often times they can fool you early on.
Some select for early easy preflower, but I have not really seen any correlation to the way the preflowers show and how the plant will turn out, or it's progeny.
I actually think that pre-flowers are more a result of the immediate environment and other stress factors, than a picture of anything to do with it's future. Although I do know that some plants have heavy preflower activity no matter the environment.

I had actually never heard of this by Nirv. I am hoping good luck for you and this interesting cultivar.

yoss i have seen that branch like that before. Not uncommon, but, in my limited experience, nothing to worry about normally.

Great looking plants. The high sounds very good. I should look for some Oaxacans too.

Just a small update. These gals are quite stretchy and lanky. 2 of the plants still haven't shown sex, more than 2 months after start.

That looks like the chunkier pheno I got last year. It was shorter, started flowering earlier and its buds were denser and not foxtailing. It really needs some vegging.

Is this still the same strain as Nirvana Special, only under different name? Old NS was nice, very clear and mellow paranoia-free high, not most potent weed though. Had a cut that had this very pleasant lemon juice-like smell and flavor.

It is the same strain, yet maybe the parents are not the same individuals. Sativa Seedbank inbreed their Oaxacan (more than a dosen generations so far, according to their site), so maybe they use a newer parent now. People's experiences with the Special seem very close to my experience with the RF.

I'm not good at verbalizing smells, but my sativa pheno last year definitely had this lemon smell in it.
Though I love to smell my plants (with hours) and I'm good at blind guessing samples, I can't define these complex smells with words. I mean I can't say whether Royal Flush's smell is lemon+bubblegum or piney+candy+rose. And btw, the most undescribable of all smells for me is the one of cured pure Haze. All I can say is that it's sharp; too complex and too unusual mix of smells :)

Small update. A neighbour's goats made a hole in my fence, passed through it and ate quite a few things, including many of the side branches of my plants. So they are setting me back a little, but it could be worse...

I put a stick between 2 of the plants to spread the group:

This year I'm well prepared for watering the plants but so far the season is quite rainy. The El Nino in effect. Hopefully the autumn is not that way.

Thanks for the posting on your Oaxacan Highland Gold hybrid yoss33. Here's some photos of Kangativa's Oaxacan Highland Gold x NL#5 Haze grown at 30 degrees South:

picture.php

This strain is known as Oaxacan Space Shuttle and produces a soaring transcendental high that is powerful and long lasting.

picture.php

The plant grows to 12 feet and can produce more than 2 pounds dry.

The large flowers have a sweet lemon sorbet fragrance.

picture.php

Despite the confectionery aromas the high is without ceiling and can become introspective and trippy.

picture.php

Kangativa uncovered the Oaxacan Highland Gold while traveling in Mexico and crossed it to a Neville's Sensi Seed NL#5 Haze in the mid nineties.

picture.php

The Oaxacan genetics provide quality mating material and the NL/Haze is a parent of many notable strains like SSH, Mango Haze & Neville's Haze.

picture.php

Like Neville's Haze the Oaxacan Space Shuttle is 75% sativa, but unlike Neville's Haze she flowers in 10-12 weeks.:)

Delicious :blowbubbles:
Kangativa is a BIG grower :tiphat: His huge sativas in the RUST thread are all jaw-dropping. Next year I must try starting my plants indoors early on for a longer season, these chunky trees seem worth it

After curing the Oaxacan Space Shuttle turns a beautiful golden brown and the tastes like a smooth dessert wine with overtones of Lemon Hash.

picture.php

An African friend describes the high as reminiscent of the best Malawi Gold - trippy and euphoric.

Sounds similar to your description of the Royal Flush. :)

This week we got some sun, which is more that on the pervious one. The plants are recovering from the goats.

I love the structure of this plant. Hope it's not a male :smokey:

And some tomatoes growing nearby, it's my first grow, an old local line, not commercial :)
