Nightowl's Zamaldelica Express

So after years of lurking and waiting with the hope that my state would legalize home grow, the day finally came. Went with autos from Mephisto for my first grow so I get my feet wet before growing photoperiods. First grow was pretty straightforward with a few errors on my end. I prefer learning from my mistakes so I adjusted my soil and amendments going to my next cycle which is the one I'll be highlighting here. I've already begun my 3rd cycle with further adjustments that hopefully will help me transition into growing photoperiods.

Anyway for my 2nd cycle, I went with Nightowl's Zamaldelica Express which is Ace's Zamaldelica pollinated by Mephisto's Fantasmo Express (a.k.a. Auto Ghost Train Haze). I chose to post this in the Ace forum for better exposure and to compare my grow with Ace's Auto Zamaldelica since this strain is essentially another auto version of a highly praised Ace photo strain. For my next cycle (first photoperiod run) I have a pack of Ace's Killer A5 Haze that I'm planning to pop so any advice is appreciated.

My current setup is a 2x4x7 Gorilla tent with Timber 3VL lights. I've been growing my plants in 5 gal pots. The soil I use is called Detroit Nutrient Co Great Lakes water only. I have had no issues with it. For the seedlings, I amend with some worm castings and Recharge. For flower, I amend the final pot's soil with more worm castings and crab + lobster shell meal which provides additional N for flower stretch, lots of calcium and some magnesium. My next cycle, I also added charged biochar and rice hulls to my final pot which I plan to incorporate into my photoperiod grow. I'm hoping it will be enough for at least a month or 2 of veg before needing to amend.

I have a couple of amendments that I use going into flower and I do 3 specific feedings every 7 to 9 days depending how thirsty/hungry they are.

Feeding #1 on Day 1: Neptune's Harvest liquid Fish & Seaweed at 1 ounce per gallon + 0.3 mL of Mammoth P

Feeding #2 on day 4: Buildabloom and coconut water at 1 tsp per gallon each + 0.3 mL of Mammoth P

Feeding #3 on day 7: EM1 at 1 ounce per gallon

So far I have had pretty good success. My Zamaldelica Express is at day 91 now and I might push her to 100

Someone beat me to it! I wanted to do a mephisto x Auto Zamaldelica cross! Lol maybe great minds think alike?
Definitely looks like some nice stuff.
To be clear is this Auto Zam x Fantasmo express (Auto x Auto) or did reg or fem Zam get “made” into an Auto with the fantasmo?

Damn. I had some real trouble with this one. I germed 4. 3 were just not growing right, so they were culled. It was probably not the right conditions for them, but shit happens. 1 is about 2 weeks from harvest, but the yield is looking anemic. (Sigh) I kindof wasted 50 bucks on these seeds, but that's probably my own fault. Lots of people have had good success with them. I would say dont feed too much N with her, and dont water too much. That's my hunch.

Great buds dude.

oh my damn ghost train haze is one of my faves

mephisto looks like they do some good shit. that chreme de la chem would prolly be a good candidate for a zam auto mix; was thinking about getting some of those mephisto seeds mezelf..

Small update. Took some pics as she is finally starting to fade on day 90. I'm pretty proud of myself that the leaves stayed a deep green for so long. Other growers have told me that this strain was finicky but I've had no issues.

Day 91:

While I was adjusting her lower colas yesterday, I noticed that the 3 smallest ones were laying in the pot and starting fade much quicker than the other colas so I decided to clip them instead of chancing mold. Temps are supposed to hover around 90°F for the next 2 weeks plus I wanted a taste test already anyway:smokeit: She smells like mangos and lime since the start of flower with a touch of carrots that's started to develop recently so I'm sure the taste will be amazing once it's dried and cured. Even my mother-in-law wants a taste after smelling her :biglaugh:

Welcome silverhaze21 :)

don't know how others have worked with our Zamaldelica but you are always welcome to post hybrids of our genetics in this room.
Sounds like your auto female carries the fruity Zamaldelica terpene profile despite being a pheno with quite rudelaris look.
Hope the finished product will meet your expectations. Looking forward to follow your efforts with Auto Zamaldelica too

Your feedback is greatly appreciated Dubi :)

I have a pack of your Killer A5 Haze for my first photoperiod grow that I'm very excited about. I grew up around NYC and I'm sure any of you that were smokers around the late 90's and early 2000's around there remembers the Sour Diesel and the haze that was going around if you knew the right people. I have very fond memories of being sold bags of "silver haze" from the Jamaicans & Haitians in Queens & Long Island that had a very energizing but psychedelic high.

I thought it was all a fantasy of my early smoking days but my time lurking here and other forums led me to the stories of Nevil's mythical A5 Haze and the rumour that a cut of that strain is what was floating around NYC back then. My search led me to your Killer A5 Haze so once again, I appreciate the feedback and advice :tiphat:

Hi silverhaze21,

Thanks for supporting our Killer A5 Haze release, much appreciated. You can find the official Killer A5 Haze thread in the sticky area of this room:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=359412

where you will find plenty of grow reports and info about growing this strain.
Let us know there or email us to: [email protected] in case you have any specific doubt not solved in the Killer A5 Haze strain description and thread. Best wishes!

So today is day 94 since breaking soil and still no amber trichomes. Mostly cloudy with some clear. Some of the top calyxes are starting to turn purple on the tips and she's drinking less water. The biggest fan leaves are starting to fade and the smaller ones on the bottom are starting to die but other than that, the plant is still mostly a healthy green. I suspected that she might run on the longer side for an autoflower because of the Zamaldelica genes but this doesn't upset me. The calyxes are still swelling and now changing color so I'm intrigued :watchplant:

I'm thinking at least 1 week for sure but possibly 2 more weeks under the lights followed by a week with no water in the darkness of my only air-conditioned room before the actual chop.

So day 99 update. Trichomes are about 90% cloudy with the rest clear. Still no amber. I've been inspecting her daily for nanners and I have another really hot week coming up so instead of risking the stress, I pulled her out of the tent. She will spend her last week in the darkness of my air-conditioned bedroom with temps between 68 to 74°F. I'm hoping it will bring out more of the purple. Her last watering was about 2 days ago and I don't plan to give her anymore. I might chop on Wednesday if she starts to look rough. If she still looks good then I'm leaving her in the cold, darkness until next weekend.
