Went to this fancy Japanese place called Sakura grill.lots of Japanese places called Sakura. It was good.Dont feel like getting into details cause this site is full of sissy lovers but I'll show my good Japanese food. Had some Unagi and it was good.also teriyaki chicken that was real good.made on a hibachi I'm sure.
Damn I miss pops.i won't share my feelings here without him! And yeah im broke as fuck.didnt even sell booze. I was gonna get sake

My mom got a phili and tempurura roll and you see what I got.it was like $30. Don't know why I got the eel but yeah it was good.kinda tempted to get the octopus but it really don't taste like anything. The few pieces of eel was $6 or $6.50 something like that.Need to stop going to these places

I was about to say, Hawk, i thought u made those dishes at first they looked so good. I bet you could make some awesome sushi/japanese food with a little practice. Weren't some ninja also chefs in their 'civilian' life?
Also I think sakura means cherry blossom which is why you see so many places with it in their name.

I love unagi, DB, it's one of the few sushi that's cooked, and comes covered in this sweet teriyaki bbq sauce, it's good stuff.
Do they still sell fried clams during the winter or is that a seasonal thing?

I have a feeling Pops is alright and will be back sometime before the super bowl. Just have to wait for him to bond out of prison first.

Im trying the dry-brining thing again, using about half the kosher salt that I used before.

It came out much better this time, well seasoned but not overly so, tender even though i cooked it through (wanted to leave it pink in the middle ah well they werent super thick like the ones u get). Still didnt get a great sear on it but that's ok too.
When u sear ur steaks, hawk, do u get a nice almost crispy crust on it? How smokey does it get in the kitchen when ur doing that?

If i did make it would you believe me? If i had a hibachi i could make anything. Just need to trial and error the sauce. Steaks look good Wtf is that steak on the left?Id say its a ribeye but but i dont see a cap. Yeah the fatty parts get crispy. I dont get a lot of smoke cause i dont have a cast iron pan. all i got is stainless. wanna get a steak but im broke. Didnt even want to go to this sushi place. Went to this greek place and it was closed for 15 minutes. WTF!? who does that? i wasnt gonna wait and the sushi place was around the corner. i would of rather got a decent pizza that would last me a day in leftovers but my mom dont like pizza too much. Im getting sick of her bullshit. I know she isnt supposed to eat certain foods but she really dont care about that. Ive been eating like a pig lately but i wanna eat. i cant get full on expensive jap food when im broke. Got no idea what im gonna eat today. more sandwiches probably. Thats expensive too.

LOL fuking ninjas were everything from farmers to beggars. They knew how to cook i would think. They made these balls made of i dont really know what but they were energy balls full of calories so they could pop one and eat them when they had to travel. Very freugal like. They say they couldd travel 75 miles a day on foot..

also remember baba, your not gonna get a perfect sear because of the bone. Ya know id even probably broil it. Ive made good tbones in the broiler

Ur right, these steaks were labeled as "ny strip" but some of them lack a bone. Maybe im being cheated? Should i go back there and raise holy hell? They could probably ban me for life. Sounds like the greek dude who owned the place needed to take a shit, or fuck a thot, or something, to be closed for 15 minutes. Maybe he was in the back sniffing some lines and getting his d--- sucked. You should have waited, greek people take pride in their food, probably would have made for a filling and tasty meal.
Ur right, the bone prevents good contact with the pan so cant get a great sear. U make a good point tho, try to sear the fat first. Im going to make it a point to sear the outside fatty edges, rub it all around a hot pan to get it to cook faster.

I'd eat your clams, DB, i surely would. I'd slurp those bad boys up cause theyre that delicious. No homo. Not that there's anything wrong with it. It's 2023, yknow.

Got long john silvers.i don't know why but is is good and price wasn't bad.haven been there in 20 years.got this coleslaw and hushpuppies for lik$13.and it's an A and W too.never been to one.didnt even know they still existed.ill try a root beer float and burger from them one day for sure.piece a chicken missing in the pic too.not bad for the price.got a funny LJS story i might tell if i havent already

Actually that was a mix of fish and chicken in the pics.i got the fish and chicken platter. 2 pieces of fried haddock, 3pieces of chicken,coleslaw,fries and 2 hushpuppies. Pretty damn tastey. I used the malt vinegar like the english use. i like it.
So i was probably 5 or 6 and my dad and i were traveling from IL to IA. i dont know if i was car sick or what but we go to LJS and and im feeling sick. So instead of running to the bathroom i go outside and start puking on the sidewalk were everyone in the whole restaurant could see me. Everyone just got up and left and the poor teenager had to get a mop and bucket and clean it up. i felt bad about it but oh well. that was around 30 years ago. besides yesterday i think i only went to a LJS once or twice since then. I think for the money it was pretty damn good.coleslaw was so little i probably wont get that again. Probably try the fish taco next time or maybe the grill shrimp and salmon

I have malt vinegar but almost never use it. I prefer ketchup on my fries. Is malt vinegar much different?

you had to be there baba. Everyone alse was getting sick and the store just cleared out. I probably ruined that LJS reputation for good. As far as i know the malt vinegar is for the fish. didnt try it on the fries. Dont know if i eved tried it before even on fish
