newbie tea question

hello ic forumers!

new to indooor growing and looking for some advice, rumor has it this is the place to ask. :joint:

so I made this tea:

5 gallons water
5 tbls mollases
5 tbls high P guano
5 tbls blood meal
5 tbls kelp meal
5 tbls EWC

Bubbled it for 48 hrs give or take, I dont use socks or anything I just chuck it in there and strain off the gunk.

fed it to my plants and it burned them, the fan leaves got really crispy tips and edges and in a matter of days a bit of brown on the larger fan leaves.

I guess this tea is too strong? should I water it down? chuck it?

I've been flushing since this happened and they are recovering.......slowly.

they are in veg still hence the blood meal, thought I should make them an all around tea before I flower them, one last good N dose.

where have I gone wrong?

They are Mighty might x super skunk.

How old are your plants (days)? That sounds like a very strong tea even for flowering plants. Next feeding you should probably cut those amounts in half and see if its not beneficial to your plants. Overferting your plants is a big no-no. There will be some damage to your plants that is irreversible. But you are doing the right thing by flushing them. Next time you flush or water check the ph and make sure its in range.

Peace and welcome to ICMAG!!

Nice, thanks for the reply Indo!

Well, how old they are is a pretty lame story.
they were sprouted over a month ago, first in the window sill, then, sat under a 60 watt for a few weeks just staying alive.

Eventually I attained my 1000w and put them under that, they took off and filled out right away, they are about a foot high now, they received no feedings at all until I thought they were big enough to handle it, so, I guess they are at least 40-50? days old give or take, I know it seems insane, it's just the way it worked out.

Is this all just to hokey? should I toss these babies and start over?

I don't want to be wasting my time if they have been too stressed out, the timing worked out badly with the light and all.

And yea I know I should be vegging under a different light but it's all I have.

You should start tea recipes like you would all other fertilzers, in moderation. Your starting recipe was much too strong and that is more than likely why you experienced the burn.

Also, I wouldn't start over. You have put time and effort into those babies and even if you get just three bowls from them it is three bowls that you didn't have to pay for.

Happy Toking :rasta:

No you should not start over. You can still get some great buds out of your plants. Just give it some time and dont feed again until the plants look/grow normal. You need to wait until all the extra nutes already available in your soil are used up before adding any more nutes. Once they start looking good give them a light feeding and see if they dont respond well to it. Good luck bro.

i think the guano was the problem, that stuff can be pretty hot.
try about 1-1 1/2 cups of ewc 2 tbls of everything else but the guano, go 1 tbls of guano. for the molasses 3-5 tbls will be just fine IMO.
good luck
and no, dont start over
1 more thing, how far is your light from the top of your plants?

why did you make so much? I make one gallon at a time. I just fed 1 gallon of water with 1 tbsp of mex bat guano, 1 tbsp of indo bat guano, i tbsp of molasses and a teaspoon of epsom salts. That was 4 days ago. I bubbled it in a bucket for 48 hours covered with a towel. The day i used it i mixed in another gallon of bubbled water and fed them like a normal watering. My plants are 20 inches tall and even when they were 12 i never had a problem but i only used the mex bat guano, mollasses and some sea kelp.
I would worry about making so much and storing it.. I make enough to use for a feeding and discard any extra or use it on normal plants. I also only feed them once every 3 weeks or so.

Hey thanks for all the info :joint:
you guys are great!

I made so much because I wanted to feed some to my house plants too, I feel much better about an organic food for them as well, my larger plants were ok with it but it burned my basil as well.

I'll chill on the tea and make a new batch with less ingredients when they look like they need some nutes.

The light is 2 ft. away from the plants.

right on thanks for the advice.
