Newbie question about pollinating a feminized plant.

I was wondering if you can pollinate a feminized plant? Will the seeds you get from it Hermie a lot? I apologize if this has been asked a lot. I'm new and I'm still figuring out the search functions. I can't seem to pm anyone either.

Yes you definitely can.

Well there is two types of feminized seeds. Natural and unnatural. You don't want natural ones, they are seeds from hermies. Unnatural ones are made by spraying chemical on the female plant which changes it hormones making it produce pollen sacks. So its not a genetic predisposition of the plant to do it, but man made. Feminized seeds you buy from seed banks should be unnatural. Ones you get outta bagseed are probably natural feminized hermies.

YES

Not necessarily. It depends on the particular plant being reversed (genes) & environmental conditions

Thanks guys, whenever I do it I want seeds so I guess I'll stay away from feminized seeds. Why do some breeders only offer feminized seeds? If more people feminize their seeds wouldn't it eventually ruin any decent breeding?

Dp,

Do some reading here. I think you'll find that genetics in feminized seed are as good as the plants used to create them. Inbreeding plants with inter-sexed traits results in more plants with those traits regardless of whether they are feminized or regular crosses.

yep , some of my better beans were from a pollinated fem plant i picked out . i,ve tested them inside out. not an issue ever . stable as .

but if you were going to do it . i think i,d find a decent breeder/ strain to use .

Well the reason I believe is a feminized seed has the greatest chance of being like the plant they are trying to sell you. When you buy a feminized seed of say some great genetics that won a cannabis cup or something. It actually won't be 100% like the plant, but pretty close. But if you buy many of them , grow them all then pheno hunt you have a good chance finding something really great. Then from there you would clone it. If they gave out regular seeds, it would contain the genetics of the male plant making it extremely more difficult to find the phenotype you purchased. Of course though, with breeding over probably many years, a phenotype can be stablized with back crossing and they could offer regular seeds for it. But that takes a lot of work...
