New to Soil -- Hydro Guy

Hey guys and ladies. I've never grown in soil before, as whack as that sounds-- just hydro. I have always used PBP & LK for nutrients and micro, and would like to continue to use them for my soil grow.

Plan is a perpetual grow using 5" square pots. Lighting is 800W CMH (2x 400), and I will be purchasing a Secret Jardin DR120 or DR150 (still have to decide).

This is probably the most newb question, but what soil would you guys recommend?

This grow will have no veg time-- straight to 12/12 from rooted clones.

Like I said, I will be using PureBlend Pro and Liquid Karma for my nutrients and micro. I'm so unsure about which soil to use, due to not wanting to over fertilize. I know that a lot of soil mixtures have fertilizers in them already, but have no idea what would be best for what I plan to do. I'd like to keep everything as much to the organic side as possible. I prefer to avoid chemicals at all cost :canabis: . (Please refrain from posting arguments about PBP not being completely organic-- that's not why I'm posting )

Here's everything that I have to choose from: http://www.wormsway.com/catalog.asp?cat=soil . I have a Worm's Way close enough to drive to, and it is where I purchase most of my supplies.

Thanks for the help.

If your East Coast like I assume and somewhere near MA or CT, you should try Organically Grown @ organicallygrown.com I'm fairly sure that there are a few Fox Farm mixes that might be what your looking for, I think theyre stuff is all organic, or nearly that.

I dunno whats in Promix but i'm sure you could buy a metric ton if you desired.

I'm using PBPro LK, Micro blast in my current soil grow. They will work just fine for you. You do need to get the PBPro Bloom for SOIL though.

As for soils...Go to the Organics section and read BurnOne's Sticky on Organics for beginners. There are good soil recipes there that WILL WORK for you.

Hey PurplePotion-

I say go with agent orange's advice. I too learned to grow this fine plant hydroponically. Added dirt to the mix for moms and some test plants comming up on 2 years ago with a simple Fox Farm Ocean Forest mixed 2.5/1 with fine perilite and feed every other watering, ph 6.3-6.7 every time. Knock on wood, I haven't had to really do anything more, no real ph probs as it is nicely adjusted...makes me look like I know what I'm doing :rasta:

I'm really not looking to mix up my own soil. Call me lazy, but .. I'm lazy in that respect haha. Is there any soil that would work better with PBP?

Fox Farms Ocean Forest.

Some mix in a little perlite and some do not. I just planted clones, rooted in Rapid Rooters straight into Ocean Forest and have not had any problems.

Awesome. Thanks raiders. What kind of nutrients are you using with the FF Ocean Forest? Do you use full strength (by the bottle) dosages with it or what?

No nutrients at first, I just use PH balanced filtered water.

In a week and a half to 2 weeks I will be using Pure Blend pro grow. I will start them off half strength every other watering and go from there.

Pure blend pro bloom for flowering.

I also throw in a little SM-90 when feeding.

In the past I have had to add a little cal/mag to the mix, but only as needed.

Thanks for the info, raiders. Looks like the FF Ocean Forest will be what I get. I'll just use pH'd water for the first 2 weeks as the clones get acquainted with the soil and the pot then go straight to PBP Bloom & LK (not vegging these suckers out at all :D).

What do you adjust the pH of your water to? 7?

Thanks again raiders, that link answered my question .

yohomz-- I have seen that page many times, but like I previously stated, I don't want to make a soil mixture. Rather, I am looking for an off the shelf product that I can water with my nutrient mixture and be done. Call me lazy, but I just don't want to mess with a bunch of different products and mixing to certain ratios, etc.. just doesn't appeal to me  . Thanks though !
