Maybe drill 1/4 inch holes all over your bins. This would add air and you wouldn't need to buy anything.

it doesn't need to smell like all of them, just one of them.

Thats the thing, it doesn't smell like anything anyone or urself has described.....

To someone like my wife, I can see it stinking bad. To me it smells like good soil. No ammonia, no horrid smell, no puke smell. The ONLy description I have described, is NOT wat anyone nor urself is describing. I understand I made a comment that the Mrs. said it smelled like a Pig Farm, which she did, but I smelt ocean, and a lil stink. I cant place my finger on it.... Sorta like a crab shell smell. But it smells like good earthy soil. I smell that earthy smell. I took from both bins, and I separated it in to tumbler into 1/3rds, and mixed it in the tumbler for 5 minutes a load(3 loads). there was nothing but that soil smell, which I still find to smell like something out at sea! But not fowl in any way.

I have left the covers off the bins, in that ok? Instead of making holes, what if I turn the soil with shovel everyday, in bin? Is that ok?

mix your soil the smell should go away in about 2 weeks if its still smelling after cooking a month them maybe it has gone bad, also yes you soil will be hot the longer it sits the safer it becomes to the plants.

Also in my mix I only add 5 cups of alfalfa to 100 gals

With supersoil I have put seedlings in soil that cooked for 5 months with no burn and no problems time realy is the key.

Had to resurrect this thread cause I was in the local hydro shop today talking soils and the owner was pretty cool. We chatted about Organics and he said he was interested in learning more and also having a water-only mix. I talked to him about the KIS soil, but he said everyone that comes in wants subcool's soil mix.

So that has me online looking up the recipe, which I thinking is rather mediocre, but hey, "Subcool" himself grows with it, right? Anyway, it's looking like I may mix him up some batches of it for his store to sell.

(To this day, I don't see the point of a few tablespoons of humic açid in such a large amount of soil, or any soil for that matter. My recommendation would be to water in the finished mix with it or cut it altogether. And that's not even getting into all the different sources and quality available online)

Thought some of you organic guys would get a chuckle...

Humisolve is even a lesser amount, this is what I use.

I agree about the mediocre comment but,it does work.I always thought some things seem to be missing in the mix, like K .Some plants have a fade to them,so maybe this is why.
Plus the lack of food.

Im not really sure how his girls ended up but my girls were absolutely beautiful. I didnt add the alfalfa meal and only added a cup of kelp meal for a half a batch. On my 3rd run with the same half a batch (only use on bottom third of pot) in 10 gallon smart pots indoors. Feed with a ACT tea around 4th week and water the rest of the way with molasses.
