I'll tell you guys one thing,Jack Russell terriers can be really aggressive dogs too. I am against any kind of ban on any breed. If you don't care,the next breed to be banned could be your favorite. And my Chihuahua bites like a sumbitch. If he was the size of a pit,he would be very dangerous. People are responsible for this mess,not canines. MWThats true for poodles, too. But bulls (any guard dog really) can be "attack-aggresive" there is no denying that. Labs, retrievers (hey dont forget the St Bernard) can bite, but usually snap corrective. Like shepards basically love ankle snapping.
Now I agree the government should use more stats, we have had recent maulings (as in death, or severe damage) with rottweilers, mastiffs and pits. Always when someone was entering their space (the house they live in) when the owner wasnt close. Only pitbull types got banned. Now the American Stefford is excepted I think, probaly because of decennia good social breeding in the US. Perhaps the pitts will go the same way.
