rellik love the cab!bery stealthy!
nuggluvv, *Whattdid ya goto weeed college?*
lol great info everyone.. gonna haveta look into this here T5 business, what is it about t5s? excuse my ignorance but arent they just smaller? (larger surface area)
on another note,
i would think that the mini bi-pin MH bulbs (like xenon, but MH, lumens) would be good for increasing surface area too, and they are tiny, havent seen or heard anyone use them for mj, how bout yous?
HEY!
ne1 use 4pin high lumen twin tube cfs anymore?
http://bulbrite.com/catalog/index.php?collection_id=9&subcollection_id=186
i think the phototron uses them lol .. but they are pretty versatile being that they connect at only 1 end (push in, pull out) and are held up by a clip or 2 therefor allowing mounting in any direction.

Next grow is trying them hanging vertically on hickey'd porcelain sockets (burning base down) held up and fully adjustable via a simple pegboard/"j" hook false ceiling, maybe even a cool ambient breeze blown downward through the open pegholes... hrmmmm.

an overhead light is still a smart idea right? if this works, with the tubes nearly touching the fan leaf, it will eliminate the need for loud fans to cool an hps in a micro cab (c13)

Just some idears!
Help if ya can.. sorry for the hijack, hopefully someone out there can put this info to good use.
stay safe, keep it green

it took me a year...but I've finally got it going.

SOG under satelite at 30 days. I will get some better pics later, I am impressed with the size and density.

Sunnyside- Nice looking plant! what strain is it? how long did you veg for?

I'm looking for a four-foot/4 bulb or more. I checked some prices on the Satellite II and it's about US$570. :chin: I guess it'll pay off in the long run through the electric bill.

Reading over this post, people are saying that the T in T5 stands for Tek? Isn't Tek Light a brand and T5 the size/type of bulb?

The Tek5 4 footers are 208 watts @ 20,000 lumens (96 lumens/watt) while the TT-105 4 footers are 220 watts @ 22,000 lumens (100 lumens/watt). Both are available in 4 foot and 2 foot lengths. The main difference is that the Satellites allow you to squeeze more light in a smaller space, due to the fact that one TT-105 bulb is essentially 2 T5's.
My T5 bulbs are 54w. Each bulb rated at 5k lumens
54w * 4 = 216w @ 20K lumens (92.5 lumens / watt)

sunnyside - Your earlier post said these were perfect for veg and now you're using them for flowering! They look good so keep us posted!

You're right about this.
The T stands for 'Tube' and the 5 stands for the diameter of the lamp in 1/8ths of an inch

munchies.. The plant(s) are bubblegum and bogglegum and I did not veg at all. As soon as the clones were rooted in the plugs good I potted in the 5 1/2 inch pots and let them sit and chill for 2 days. So I suppose they had a 2 day veg. :)This is how big they were after a week of stretching lol.

your right cheeba...I was soo impressed how these lights vegged plants, I just had to give flowering a shot. AND LET ME TELL YOU...it aint all that bad.

These plants have been flowering under one satelite and are at 30 days...

The plant on the left has been in for one week...the right has been in for 30..

Your Bud
Mr.Wags

The Ready Grow freakin rocks. TK turned me on to it early lasy year and I use it t veg before moving to buckets and I get roots like this in 2 weeks in BOB:

I've found that with roots like this and using Bio products it makes for moving to the buckets a lot easier by far.

Bob's kickin man. I got some x-mas gifts about a foot and a half tall I call'em the Three Amigo's. That gives BOB 18 total plants for his last run with the co2 kickin (full tank). But he needs a new home soon so sad but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

WOW! That's some root mass Mr. Wags! You know what they say about girls with big feet...

So how often do you have to feed with the Ready-Grow?

And Sunnyside has definitely prooved to me that fluor's can be used for flower, if you do it right. For veg they are outstanding. Gotta love those linear light sources.

Of course no one can argue that they are going to replace HID's. The HID technology is still more efficient as far as light output is concerned. See below:

Light, Lumens/watt
  • Tek5 4-lamp fixture, 93
  • Sunleaves Satellite, 105
  • Hortilux HPS 400w, 138
  • Hortilux HPS 600w, 147
  • Hortilux HPS 1000w, 145

Peace :smoker:

Whats the replacement cost like on the sattlelight bulbs and how long they suppose to last? pics look nice btw.

Hey there Sunny. Plants OK, but no great. Mom headed wrong direction. I'll PM you.

The Frog Pond, they claim those bulbs are good for up to three years. That's another advantage of fluoro's over HID's; the lumen dropoff is significantly less. I would plan on getting a couple of year off a bulb anyway.

Peace

just a thought from the electric bill perspective...satelites were 210watt so running two at a time for flower should only be a little over 1 400watt HPS unless it's more complicated than that im just a simple man :). Anyway just a thought, from the looks of things I bet two of those lights on four plants would be hilarious

So, really, how nice would the buds from a fluro scrog with a satellite w/ warm/red bulbs be? Could they, possibly, turn out as nice as hps buds?

Sunny:

Are you flowering those under cool spectrum bulbs or does the fixture have warm spectrum bulbs, as well? I currently use 4' fluoros supplemented with CFL's to flower my SCROG and would love to eliminate the CFL's to just use the tubes. I'm currently running 10 4' tubes (400 watts) + 7 42-watt CFL's for a total of 694 watts. I'm betting I could use a lot less electricity, generate less heat, and get more light by switching to those.
