I think everyone should have a gun...it would keep crime down and reduce the population,,,so many idiots taking out each other accidentally....if you own a gun get some training...its the idiots causing the problems... idont need agun I can do fine with an arrow , or knife ,not my hands anymore as my wrist is screwed and my othe elbow is shot...nevermind my back....ya maybe a gun is better...yeehaw

Why limit yourself to just one gun...even LEO has a backup or two. Walther PPK is LEO most popular backup weapon and fits in a back pocket or wifey's purse with ease. BTW, you can feel if the safety is on or off--no need to look...very handy if one needs to squeeze a few rounds in the dark.

Nevada mmj patients can possess guns as long as you're not under the influence during the possession of it.

That might be true under state law, but gun posession while growing still means mandatory prison time under federal law. It's fucked up that even the NRA doesn't support us in this case.

I was told by a cannabis attorney that a gun or two is only a problem federally in CA, state wise its legal. If everything else is legal, like plant count and of course you have to not have a felony conviction. Not saying some cops won't write charges but it doesn't usually hold up, according to him. He's more experienced than anyone else I've been able to find.

Agree...my attorney said if I had a garden on my property and got caught with a pistol in my nightstand....probably not a problem, provided the garden was not in my bedroom.

Now if I had a AR-15 behind the front door, my Glock under the pillow on my couch, my SW 500 taped under the table top, my side-by-side sawed off shotgun in my garden, with a few "innocent" booby traps to trip up any LEO....he guaranteed me that I would have a huge problem and kiss "bye-bye" to any jury help. Gangsta is...as gangsta does.

"Bailiff, whack his pee pee"...just won't work, LOL.

The only weapon I currently have I keep at a friends house..I'm sorry officer, doesn't everyone have a .44 mag in this state for home garden protection?
It sucks but I can't take the chance..

Can't family members already "myer, meyer act and baker act other members? ( one is for alcoholism I think and the other is for insanity?)

The issue is not "involuntary institutionalization"...the issue is: Having your firearms "confiscated" based on the "words" of any "relative"...cuz they say "you pose a threat" (no proof required--until 14 days later at the hearing). This is a FIRST!

Is it me or does anyone else see the potential misuse of the law? Imagine evil retribution between rival factions of a feuding family (aka revenge), or coercive power this gives someone...."you better do ____________ or I'll have your firearms confiscated".

And...the bottomline question is, would this law change the horrible killing in Santa Barbara? Nope. Its a "feel-good law", period.

Yeah I agree this new law is just a knee jerk reaction typical of modern politicians. They will do anything to stop a perceived threat real or not. They must pass a law in ignorance to be seen as "doing something". The news does not help the situation with the spreading disinformation about the issues and how prevalent they are.
But Tudo does have a point about that issue ,involuntary institution without due process of law seems pretty despicable by itself.
If anyone wants to see how the mental health industry is abused by industry and politicians a guy named Dr. Thomas Szasz has written several books and alot of articles on the matter.

It seems pretty sensible to me.
Years ago, someone I know had all his guns confiscated because he had made threats against the man his wife was fucking while he was working. Once things cooled down he got them back. This was back when people still had handguns here.
It's pretty obvious that someone who isn't right in the head can;t be trusted with firearms.

I still find it hilarious that you gys think your guns are going to protect you from the gubmint.....lolololololololol...they'll roll right the fuck over. They've got the guns, but we've go the numbers.......but they've got the drones.

Yeah that's probably a good reason not to go around banging peoples wives. LOL

Rights vs Privileges
[YOUTUBEIF]kjhkydPddEE[/YOUTUBEIF]

So you see rights are inherent in our existence, we own ourselves and have the responsibility to protect ourselves and our family.
Especially in the US where the courts have ruled numerous times the police have no duty to protect individuals. Plus it is impossible for them to be everywhere at once, and most smart people know to avoid them like the plague because often they are more dangerous than any criminal element out there.

These rights must be used responsibly of course because other people have rights also. The application of the use of firearms can be for many situations but they are to protect life. If you don't have that ability it is open season on you and your family. Especially by the hypothetical disturbed fellow.
No one here wants to fight our own government, politically yeah, but not on the two way firing range. But things can get sketchy at times like at the Bundy ranch. Which proves a point that they can be put in their place when they go to terrorize families.

So weather one individual suspects it is ok to abrogate their own rights , that is fine. But they have no right to tell other people what rights they can have.

In this country people go off to die for that right and others, so as not to be disrespectful I think it is an important one not to be breached since it protects all the other rights we have.
I know I go against the growing sentiment in this country and others but once the idea is examined in the proper context instead of sound bites and ignorant and immature propositions then the sentiment will change.

I am limited in the amount of links I can provide so you will all have to do the digging through the stories yourselves.

I think that there is more of an issue of having cash in the home and a weapon, and any odor of marijuana is simply making anyone an easy "mark" for some sort of an arrest. More of a 'question of distribution/racketeering ' issue. :moon: jpt

Whenever I hear about any kind of anti-gun legislation I think of Charlton Heston holding up that flintlock and that "cold dead hands" statement and the NRA, therefore California. I imagine they'll be screaming about this. I'm surprised Jerry did it. My suspicious mind makes me think he's trying to divert attention from something else.

Besides having a firearm on premises, what other things that most of us have/use to operate a cannabis cultivation operation that are "no-no's" to have?:
1. Scale (1lb+)
2. Turkey bags
3. Dried cannabis (drying and/or curing)
4. Weighed product in 1lb units
5. Cash
6. Cash counting devices
7. Ledger/book/record of product sales and $ owed
8. Paperwork found onsite connecting you to the cultivation operation (bills with your name/address)

Am I missing anything?

when I'm out n' about I carry a gun 24/7, I answer the front door w/one in hand as well if I don't know the person on the other side, sheriff response time to my home is usually 30-45 minutes and I have no intention of bleeding out while waiting for help.

a law like that would never fly in Minnesota, it would be shot down immediately along with the idiot who tried to introduce it.

One Sunday (on mothers day) there was a knock @ my door, the guy on the other side was asking about something I couldn't understand clearly. When I cracked the door open I was looking at a someone who would be aptly described as a tattooed thug, he was asking if my place was where the garage sale was and all the while failing to make eye contact with me, instead he was eyeballing my crib over my shoulder, suddenly Alice (my springer spaniel) let out a couple of loud barks which startled the fuck outta him judging by the way his feet left the ground.

Next thing you know he had a gun pointed in his face and a less than polite invitation to leave, I'd heard enough bullshit for the day. To satisfy myself of having made the right move I went for a ride, I didn't see a single 'Garage Sale' sign on any corner of any highway, considering that my home ALSO lacked any GS signs I knew I'd made the right move. He had probably been mumbling so that I'd be lured into opening the door to field his question.

it was a great mothers day, my own mom in NY didn't have to get a call that her son had been killed, the thugs mother also benefited similarly.

win win.......

Those all sound like things you'd need for a legitimate business. Things you'll need for providing a valuable service to your community. Lots of people want to get high, but they don't all have the time or space to grow their own plants.

Glad to hear you are ok. Its better to hurt their feelings in the case of a misunderstanding than actually hurt them. Maybe they learned something and wont wind up dead idiots in the future.

Agree, but unfortunately the list contains many of the "indicators of drug trafficking" too.
