I guess the biggest issue here in the US is that the lawmakers are constantly doing their best to legislate morality.

I get tired of people telling me what I should believe; why aren't I allowed to look at the situation decide for myself if something is right or wrong?

If having an opinion is a crime, then I guess I'm an outlaw...

Then again, I'm not the type to go out and kick a guy's ass just because he likes other dudes or has a girlfriend of a differing ethnicity, so I guess the over-reacters are ruining it for the rest of us reasonable people.

we just fired a stoopid broad at my work that was bigger than most cows.

...evidently she threatened to sue her former employeer (large beer company) because someone called her "fat".

...of course she got sum sort of "settlement"

i suppose that telling the truth and calling someone "fat"....when they really are...also equals a "hate crime"

I take Ron Paul's stance on hate crimes. Hate crimes (legislation) as a whole only serve to continue to remind people that they are DIFFERENT. It keeps everybody in groups. Divide and conquer. The fact is, *every* crime is committed based on some level of hate for something. I won't even get into where freedom of speech fits in with this.
