New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

W had 2 people do this. They had a bigger person just str8 stand on the hair straightener. It produced a bunch of oil. More then I ever got anyway.
Anyone got tips on rerunning the buds? I tried stacking the leftovers.. Pretty much got nothing.

Forgot to add it in my post above but I have had substantially better results using kief. For coming up with some heady dabs in literally 5 minutes! I am super impressed.

I tried using the 25u screen from an old bag set but I guess I didn't clean them after I decided they where on there last run (DOH!!!). Im gonna have to get busy with alcohol cleaning that screen because I think that's the answer to pressing nug and getting a clean return. With the kief it seems the oil just naturally runs away from the kief and is easy to collect.

Also one final thought, the oil is extremely potent in a different way than BHO. It seems to be less of a complete extraction than a solvent provides, more just melted trich heads. I think the little bit lower yield and slightly less taste is the same reason its only extracting the big juicy trich heads.

Lower temps and longer presses might get you more terpenes maybe? I can't wait until you guys get this technique dialed. Thanks for putting in all the work and sharing!

Does anyone wonder if the silicon coating on parchment paper is part of the contaminate? Scraping rosin off the paper with a razor seems like it could pick up the coating. Thoughts?

If it's contaminating it's doing it during the press. The rosin plucks off the parchment super easy, kind of like cold sap would.

Thx. Mine stays pretty sticky and doesnt want to go anywhere. Some stuff makes the flakes tho.

I tried the pressed pucks with a handheld pollen press, and leached the resin off with a flatiron. Although it worked, the rosin was a lot darker. I think it may be too much chlorypyhll in one condensed area. It has a greenish hue to it. Tests will continue.

Maybe freeze the material and your press first, then press puck, refreeze, then do your extraction. That might cut down on chlorophyll.

Wow that's great! Question, what do you use to get all that kief from the trim? That seemed like a pretty good return!

Are you asking how much the trim weighed? If so unfortunately I didn't weigh it. I was real happy with the return. Turning keif that wasn't full melt into 2/3 of it being full melt. Though I think I need a lot of refining it was a great start.

Been playing around with the rosin tech on some bubble and I'm very impressed with the yield and quality. I've tried three different methods so far:
  1. bubble hash in parchment
  2. bubble wrapped in 25 ui pressing screen
  3. bubble wrapped in ~50 ui stainless mesh
The picture above is from method 1. Like the rosin tek for flowers, the plant material collects in the middle of the oil pool and is easily picked off. Resulting product is ~90% full melt and has good taste when dabbed on a nail (minimal residue left and little to no burnt taste).

Methods 2 & 3 are what was discussed in the last hash church. I found no discernible difference between the products (both dabbed cleanly with no residue and had great taste) but the stainless mesh seems to trap less of the oil and is more easily reused.

Agree completely on 25u silkscreen. It seems to trap a lot of the oil. Also seems the better the starting material the better the oil spreads around

Would the best way to turn trim into rosin be turning the trim into bubble hash and then use the rosin tek on the bubble hash?

I feel like it would be easier to just dry ice kief it with the technique I mentioned before. You wouldn't have to wait for your water hash to dry either.

Agree on the dry ice kief too. If the kief is good the return is high and it's easy to collect the rosin. Bubble is good enough on it's own. Maybe try the rosin tek on the trash bags.

I am using kief and am going to have to get some film and stainless screen. It does stick to the screen i am using so maybe that will help. I am not a fan of dabs, but just a little chip of this on some flower in my vape is very nice. I notice there is not near the taste the dry sift or the ethanol based oil has but it sure has the potency.

Where are people getting the ss screen I would like to try it. I feel like my biggest problem even with kief is contamination.

I am wondering how pliable is the the 50u stainless is? I saw some on the auction site. If someone has a source for the film and screen please post it...
