You know, I miss Nevil, too. He did have some interesting stories...a real raconteur! He loved talking about Afghanistan and he did love his Affies (this is where our tastes do differ) and liked to imagine "that perfect plant" in some valley "hidden somewhere in Afghanistan, undiscovered, as yet, by the West..."
To me that perfect plant was much more likely hidden in a valley in Colombia...but each to his own..
I was not too much of a fan of crossing haze to indica or skunks... nowadays there are better haze hybrids to try - pure sativa..not with that NL narcotic way...but Nev's Hazes were by far and away the most powerful haze hybrids yet bred and really introduced a lot of people to real sativa hybrids.
I always found that Nevil's Haze was a little bit crazy and itchy-twitchy... but I grew it anyway. It was a real pain to grow - it just hated me but Nevil knew those phenotypes inside out. Every single one... cat piss, incense (of course, my favourite), more NL narcotic ones, etc... It really made me laugh how well he knew them and he would help a lot of us to grow them well..
The funny thing is that I could always tell when Nevil had been smoking Nevil's Haze and I am going to say it now - powerful is not necessarily best. Kindness over power all the way for me. When Nev was fucked I found him to be much harder work - sometimes a bit of a pain in the arse and also rather show-offy but everybody worshipped him so I am not surprised!
Whenever I smoked a lot of Nev's Haze I tended to speak a lot of shit and so did Nev! It is what it is....very strong, psychedelic weed...
In the end of our relationship Nevil was asking me (and some others) for cuttings of pre-1998 Super Silver Hazes and Nevil's Hazes, which I would have had at one time but certainly not when Nev was asking for them..... I asked him why he could not just plant out seeds of Shantibaba's Nevil's Haze and SSH as Shanti absolutely swore blind that they were the same plants and Nevil could not give me a straight answer but did say that he was sure that if the mothers and fathers were the same they had genetically drifted and the offspring were not as good. I told Nevil that I didn't think he should then be sponsoring or putting his name to those seeds as we had all spent a lot of money on them because they carried his name and we did struggle to find the 'legendary' plants...
I did tell this to Shantibaba and asked if the parents had drifted and he said no but soon after Nevil left MNS...who knows why....? Maybe he did feel that his integrity could not allow him to sponsor those fake seeds any longer... just saying. I never grew another MNS seed after that until I grew some Mango Haze seeds that somebody gave me for free. They were shit.
After that I got so stoned one day and was talking some shite on the net and Nev and I got into arguing about nothing at all, really and it blew up so we lost touch. I am an idiot for getting too high before going onto the net.. now he is dead and I cannot tell him that I am sorry for that. Damn.
The last I knew he was working to make what he called 'Holy Grail' which I think would have been something like a Nevil's Haze / Mullumbimby Madness hybrid or something like that. I think he was still at the theorising stage - looking for potential mothers and fathers...
Still, Nevil did select some of his favourite Nevil's Haze plants in the 90s which he gave to his friends in Holland to look after... Yo Sammy has kept these plants - remember selected by Nevil himself - until now and my friend Luis from Ace Seeds has made some amazing crosses to the PURE sativas from them. If you mentioned these somewhere in this thread and I missed it I am sorry for the repeat!
Right now I am trying the Nevil's Haze x Panama (elite refined incensey phenotype) I will give an update as they go
Of course, there will be phenotypes of the Narcotic NL popping out but few and far between - and also phenotypes of the interaction between the 2 hazes (A and C) apparently do pop out every now and then but I am looking for the super incense Nev's haze / Panama interactions. It is like Shanibaba says - Nevil's Haze is only for the holidays - it is way too mad to smoke everyday, so I hope that the superb Panama Elite will make her kinder.

Thanks for the stories about Nevil, sounds like you were there in Amsterdam back in the day? That is really something, how did you know him?
I actually found the Nevil's haze to be quite mild next to my 5hazes, a more uppity pleasant kind of high, my original 5hz was the strongest haze I've smoked to this day . I like the strongest because its the way I keep from smoking too much, I literally dont want more than a couple small bongs a day, and regular weed won't even phase you when you are high on that shit so why bother?
I crossed some nevils haze with one of my sativa leaning 5hz males and got some of the most sativa leaning hazes I've ever bred.
I tried growing some of Shantis Nev hazes, but never had any luck with them, my cut was an older cut, with a high THC count.
Sounds nice about the Panama Hazes, I love the many Incense phenos I get coming from my 5hzC lines, I get a frankincense pheno, and another one that is kind of like opium or something, and one that is sweet kind of like root beer, but when you smoke it, it is pure incense the one pictured below is like that:

So the hatchet job on Nevil and Mr nice continues and Raho is now an expert on who was Nevil's real friends and who were not.
Any one that was at MrNice at the time Nevil left would know why Nevil left and what followed and to be honest it is not something i care about as many of us got caught in the cross fire of that mess.
So Mrnice the only source Authenticated by Nevil that had his plant and seed library are no good but plants not Authenticated are much better yea okay.

If you had the reading comprehension of a 10 year-old you could see that my comment said nothing about the things you constantly rage about.
Maybe if you cared about Nevil as much as you say you did, your posts about him would carry half of the obviously heartfelt emotion that Grover's post did.

Great project Hazenacious.Some of those old 5hz plants are still some the the best i've smoked,pity all the old 1's over here have disappeared and been taken over by amnesia and lemon haze.
Very interested to see what you find in the NH21/MMl,should be some nice plants to hit with some 5hz pollen!
Grover sativa,look for plants that have a tacky feel to them in veg in those NH/Panama's,they put out a load of resin come flower.

Hi Jayded, Thank you, Yep, I have enjoyed plenty of Super Lemon Haze from dispensaries, and used to smoke a lot of Amnesia when I lived in UK, around 2007. Amnesia was a big step down from SSH, and the SSH I used to smoke in Netherlands around 2001 was like a hazy skunk but I felt lucky to be getting Amnesia in UK, it had all the bag appeal, and tasted great. The Cross from leg 1 will be 5hzXCali male crossed with a whole bunch of stuff, especially itself, but the Grail seeds won't be ready. The leg 2 Cross will actually be a Grail Male X everything, including a bunch of 5hz. The best tested 5hzXCali girls crossed to the Grail Male will be the main cross for leg 2 with a whole heap of side crosses, including NH21XMM f2s. Here are some more of pics of the same Rootbeer and incense pheno, it is a cross between a 50%5hz hybrid and a Ghosttrain Haze number 1. I am calling it a beginner's haze, because while it is undoubtedly stronger than Ghost Train Haze, it still doesn't have the high ceiling of the purer 5hazes, which can cause real problems if you smoke too much, headspins, vomiting, elevated heart rate, sweats etc. You don't have to worry about that so much with this haze below, you can almost smoke it socially. it's A bit more like a diesel, or a Chem, OG type, you can see the OG in it, but the smoke is pure haze, and the high is very smooth and euphoric.
