Neem Oil and Why it works and what it does

I agree SB, less threads of a more complete nature are better for the community,
as well as IMB links the page when people have questions to save time and grow the thread.
SB about half way through flowering is my cutoff point, when serious budage is present I stop neem use, it's systemic so will still present in leaf tissues in small doses over a periode of about 2-4 weeks, if you still have pest problems by that point your grow is probably comprimised to begin with.
If you had to you could do a soil drench later in flowering and as neem can move easily throughout the plant from the root system.
I've used neem consistently in a preventative effort and I've yet to ever have pest, I bought it when I started growing and never looked back.

IMB great thread, nice and clear info.

Nice info indeed. Does anyone know if BioBizz BuzzOff is (overpriced) Neem oil? Atleast it seems to kill mites pretty effectively.

The real questions is does it work. Trust me, after you get an infestation of one thing or another the price or getting rid of the bastards is an after thought....

Thanks guys... I used to battle pest with natural predators... totally bio... no taste effects... but predators are more expensive and may take longer to kill all enemies... so I'm getting very convinced on Neem oil... if this won't be enough, I've read Neem with Pyrethrum makes a killing combo...

Again, does anybode know... when adding to the water feed... if neem oil would be harmful to beneficiairy soil life?... like wurms, fermenting bacteria and mycorriza root fungi?

I've been using neem on my bonsai mum all summer and had no bug problems yet. I usually sprayed it once a week.

Yup, tried a few other methods to get rid of thrips and spidermites. Neem did the job in 2weeks. Forwarded this link to few fellows who are quite sceptical. "If pyrethrine doesn't do the job how would some natural oil do it?!" Just test and be amazed.

neem oil work great against pest that true.

But if you don't handled it with care it will burn ur crop badly.

only apply when early morning or late before turn night(means better before teh lights are off)

i have a bad experience with neem oil, it burn my crops like 3 times out of 4 grows.

even 2nd week of flowering stage. But it work really well against pest not poweder mildew. But still it a sweet thing without any chemical in there.

I just used it on the room. I tried to avoid any plants that are close (1-2 weeks out) to finished. Will it leave any after taste? Should I rinse the plants with plain water before the chop?

BTW Thanks IMBoggled!

I usually stop using neem at least 2-3 weeks before the chop. The key with neem is simple. Use it after cloning and all through any veg cycle. Spray every 2-3 days and spray every 2-3 days through flowering until 2 or 3 weeks prior to cut down. It's amazing. It's and antifungal and an antibacterial. Neem rules and it's safe and natural.

i use it in rooting and veging stages but never in flower. If I am vigilant and stay on top of my schedule I never need it in flower. I think it leaves a funny taste in my bud if I use it during bud formation because I feel the residue stays behind in between the calyx

Can you use neem in hydro?, will it help roots heal from root rot and help as a prevention / steralize system without hurting the blants. I want anyting in my system besides the roots dead.

Also doesn anyone kow if antibacterial dish soap will kill root rot and not the roots.

Yeah I've started using Neem and it seems to be doing the job. Had an insane infestation, still not quite sure of what, either white flies or fungus gnats. Or knowing my luck probably both.

Hey, i have recently been under siege with fungus gnats and finally decided to neem the buggers... i just recently sprayed a diluted amount of neem oil on the surface of my plant's soil and the sides of the buckets, will it harm the flowering plants? i am about a week or so into harvest and i dont want the finished product to taste bad... by the way i NEVER spray the buds with neem oil or anything like that, just the surface of the soil and the sides of the buckets after watering.. thanks for any insight!

p.s: oh and if i smoke the the finished product will it harm the taste or would it be toxic to humans?

No woerries, neem is both a food and plant ingredient, they make toothpaste and other things with it so health wise it's fine.
It certainly can't be worse than foliar pesticides.
Fungus gnsats are a apin but neem works very well on them, I have killed them off 3 times now with no ill effect.
You should also consider sticky traps near the soil surface, I always have them out as a preventative measure and you''ll see the bugs jump right onto to them, cheap and easy with no affect on the plant.

Peace
