This is my 3rd attempt at sprouting seeds. After reading so much and trying so many things.. I was able to sprout seeds using the paper towel method and also the shot glass method. The next step is critical. I have tried several potting soils and did not get germination. I believe the key is temperature. My best results are using promix soiless potting soil. PH neutral and distilled water.
I had previous seeds which would not sprout and after 2 weeks.. tented them and put them under fluros and got sprouts.. Thats with the promix only. I think the temperature from the lights was the key. Also using the shot glass method. I had best results putting the shot glasses in a black box and putting the box under my fluros. This time of year, its very cool in the mornings so I think the warmer temperature was what was missing.

as of right now..

i moved them into my cab.

All i have to do is install the door, and do some electrial work. I will prolly have them veg for 1-2 weeks more under my 600w hps. Then flip to 12/12

Hey guys.

I tried the shot glass method. After 24 hours a few of the seeds have kinda just started to open. I left them in there for maybe another 1/2 a day. The water turned all murky and alot of it evaporated away. The growth of the beans just stopped. I think maybe the water got too warm? What should the seeds look like before they are ready to goto RW? How much of a tap root should be coming out of the seed?

I realise what the problem was. The area where the shotglass was, was wicked hot. The water was really warm to the touch. Need to find a better spot. hehe

I guess after seeds have been in warm water for this long there is no chance of them getting any life back eh? They won't grow if I put them in fresh water?

You should have the shot glass in a dark place. Warm, but not too warm. I use distilled water also.

You can try to gorw them, but they may be dead already. Seeds are VERY sensitive.

i think im going to do the same thing you did, these are the things ive learned from your thread let me know if i've got it right.

soak rockwell cubes in 4-4.5
once the roots are poaking threw the bottom move to bubbler set up and bigger lights.

I know you waited a couple weeks before moving them but they seemed kinda stagnent there for a while. If you were to do it again would you move them once the roots are poking out the bottom on the rockwell cubes or would you wait until there about an inch out. Also did you water them the 1st couple days when they were in the netpots for fear of the roots not reacing the mist/bubbles? Thanks again for the great thread its awesome seeing the everything as it happens and unedited. It helps me get a much better idea.

Yes, I didn't move them as soon as I should have as my cab wasn't ready. Plus i used a shit neon light for awhile before using my CFLS. then i used my 600wHPS from then on and they are massive. I also should have added nutes sooner as well. My system is full of sprayers. So the roots keep growing down until they hit the water. But i would leave a space to encourage them to move and grow. They are very big right now. I have no way to get pix to my pc at this moment. I will be switching them to 12/12 after 36 hours of darkness this weekend.
