hi Some1here,

you may read this thread: old timers parable: 3 farmers, written by silverback about strain selection for outdoors:

I've only bought seeds from Gypsy. All the early strains there harvest Sept with flower time of 7-9 weeks. Should be good for my lat of 42N right? The AK 48 listed there has flower time of 7-8 weeks and harvest month of Oct. which should be OK unless we have another freekish summer and fall. The ROM 13 was a freebie from Greens when I bought the GG. I have no clue what the flower time or harvest month is for that. But this is really just an experiment to see if it's possible and worth the trouble. Plus I'm only going to seed the 2 flower the fastest and hope they be can ready in Sept sometime. Only time will tell.

All 6 of the ROM 13 cracked and one has pushed itself out of the dirt :) 3 of the AK 48's cracked, think the last seed is DOA.

southpaw. all of the Rox had a very sweet smell about them. I guess you could say some were strawberry scented. or really close.

Some1here. I'm watching and learning take good notes.

Getting the stuff to make the silver spray. I have a whole box of power supplies around here somewhere, just got to dig em up. Bought 2 feet of 20 ga 99.999 silver wire. From what I've read colloidal silver needs to be kept in a place with no light. So I plan on making it under my sink with no light. Anyone know what the EC should be in the colloidal solution? Couldn't find that anywhere.

Another ROM 13 broke through the soil today.

Got a question or 2 for you. Do you clone a known female and then spray one of the clones with the silver solution and pollenate the other clone? Or do you have just one plant and spray part of the plant you want the nanners on? Did you make the solution in the dark or right out in the open, in the light?

(This quote is from another thread)You need to use 27 VDC at 500 ma minimum. You can do this with a bench top power supply or wire three 9v batteries in series. Higher voltage make the particles smaller. One quart of distilled water. 24 hrs. It will look yellow. About piss color. I know others have had sucess with just 9 v, try this method. Spray once a day for two weeks, keep solution out of the root zone. Put into flower and spray once a week, when nanners show and have pollen pick them off and open by hand, paint pollen on pistils of target plant.

I made it in the light. The only way that I have done it sucessfully is to use clones that I know are female. I then spray one with the CS and use the pollen on the other. Put the target plant into flower about two weeks ahead of the donor plant. That way she is ready to be polinated when you have pollen to paint on. My original goal was to make auto flowering fem seeds. I did get lots of fem beans but the seeds that I ordered didn't auto flower like they were supposed to. I would look for seeds that finish in late Sept to answer one of your other questions. Plenty of breeders from Canada have genes that will fit the bill for you. I know what you mean about the Nigeran Nightmare. I LOVED that plant. I got it from Reef some time back, and now it is not available anymore from what I understand. He also had a underrated strain called Burmaberry. Was the most versitile plant I have grown. Scrog, Sog, indoor, outdoor, didnt matter. It would thrive in any environment. I dont have it anymore either. OH well such is life. Lots of good stuff out there. Check out seeds from East Island Seed CO. They have some early finishers that will work for you. Lots of others I just have had good luck with them. I dont have very good luck with ordering from across the pond either. I have gotten the letter in the mail from the postal inspectors more than once. Maybe just bad luck on my part.

That's what I was thinking to do, sex my plants then clone a known female and force one with silver. I was going to go 12/12 from seed but I want to do it right and get seeds.

Man I really liked the Nigerian Nightmare too. I wish someone saved the genetics and sells the seeds soon. Was almost a autoflower plant. I grew it for 3 years running and went to buy more seeds and couldn't find it anywhere! Never checked out Burmaberry but it sounds like a nice plant. What happened to Reeferman Seeds?

I always buy seeds during the Christmas mailing rush. I've never had one lost in the mail or gotten a letter. But my time will come for that :)

Thanks for the tips I really appreciate it! And if you have any more please post!

Starting with known females is your best bet IMO. Do a search for him and you will find his seeds are still for sale. Hemp Depot has them. He an Gypsy had a falling out ,so not cool to talk too much about him on this site. No matter what happened, there was time when he was on top of the game.

Yeah people still sell his seeds but you can't find the Nightmare anywhere . Man I wish people could just get along so we all benefit from their work. Hey I went to the Depot and think I wanna try a few. You ever try Brenda's Skunk x Northern Lights or Early Grizzly?

I have grown the BSXNL. It was the strain that I orginally got that were supposed to have an auto-flower in there somewhere. I never found that pheno, but all of them were great in all other aspects. Finishes early ( Sept 20) and was potent as heck. Makes good oil too. I havent tried the Early Grizzly yet. I have eyed that one as well, just never went ahead and ordered the beans. What cloning method do you use?

I think I'm gonna get them both and try making some female seeds. To clone I cut, scrape the sides a little, rootone powder dip, place in in a small cube of rockwool, put that in a ice cube try, water so there's about 1/8 inch of water in each cube of the tray, and then place the tray into a semi clear plastic box under a light. I think in the last 5 years I've had only 3-4 clones die and that was my fault for not watering.

No chance that you'll get a hermie? I always wanted to know exactly how you'd herm a plant without getting heshe seeds. That's very good to know!

I will number the plants in the order that they break the soil.

11/8/ All 6 ROM 13 cracked and planted in beer cups. 3 of 4 AK 48 cracked put in beer cups also.

11/10 First plant broke through the soil, it's a ROM 13, will label it ROM #1. All cups are now under a 4 foot, T5 4 bulb light with a fan blowing on them.

11/12 Another ROM 13 broke through the soil. Will label it ROM #2.

11/13 Another ROM 13 broke through the soil. Will label it ROM #3

11/16 None of the 3 AK 48's broke the soil. They were all dead. Germing 4 Northern Lights and the last 3 AK 48's.

11/17 All 4 of the NL germed. All 4 into beer cups and put under the light.

11/20 Came home from work and all 4 NL's broke through the soil. Labeled NL 1-4. One of the AK 48 germed, put in a newspaper cup.

11/22 Repotted all 3 ROM 13's into 1 gallon bags. The AK 48 hasn't broken through the soil yet.

11/24 The last AK 48 germed the other seed was hollow. Put into a newspaper cup and put under the light. The other AK 48 still hasn't broken through the soil.

11/26 All the AK's germed then died. Sux. Repotted the NL's today into 1 gal bags. Cut the tops of the ROM's.

12/2 Everything going fine. Plants are growing fast and bushy!

12/5 Got my 120 watt LED light today. Fired that puppy up and stuck the plants under it.

12/8 Took cuttings of the ROM 13's today. Took 2 cuttings each of ROM 1 & 2. I fucked up cutting the #3 and ended with only one cutting :pointlaug Dusted with Rootone, placed in rockwool cubes, placed in a ice cube tray, then put in a semi clear plastic box. Put the box under the LED light. Everything seems fine with all the plants under the LED.

12/13 Couldn't stand the LED light anymore! I want to see my plants green and growing, I want to be able to see if there's any problems with them. I just couldn't stand not seeing the plants in normal color. Slight curl on the leaves so I watered with epsom salt water and gave a foiler spray with the same water.

12/15 All plants are looking good. Some leaves still have the leaf curl, not sure what the hell it's from. A few leaves are weird in all the plants. The tips curl slightly down and the middle curves upward. Just plain weird. Looked on the forum for the cure but came up empty. Gonna try a shot of N and see what happens.

12/19 Took 2 cuttings each of the NL's. Placed them in a container of their own under the lights. No roots yet on the ROM's. Well the N didn't work so I made some tea and fed the plants this morning. Leaf curl still there. Also for shits and giggles I've been taking the worms I find in the drainage tray of the worm bin and put them in each of my 30gal soil bins. The soil is LC's mix #1 with recipe #1. This was mixed 3 months ago and is aged well. Worms disappeared into the soil fast! Well later today I looked at the leaves and the curling is completely gone. Gotta love organics!

12/22 All 5 of the ROM 13's cuttings have rooted. Placed in beer cups and placed under light.

12/27 Turned lights down on the ROMs to 15.5 on an 8.5 off

12/29 Came home from work to a very cold house, my furnace is broke. Hope the plants are OK. Turned down the lights another .5 hours.

12/31 Wow a bulb in my CFL light fried so the other light in series turned off. No idea how long this went on for. Put the ROM's under the LED's. Fixed the furnace today, back to normal. The ROM's in one room were under light and temp stress. Be a miracle if they don't hermie. Cuttings from the NL looking good. ROM clones doing very well. Light reduced another .5 hours for the ROM's.

1/3 Replaced the bulb and placed all the plants back under the CFL. Potted all the NL's into beer cups and potted all the ROM's into 1/2 gal bags. Running out of room under my 4 bulb CFL's! Changed the ROM's lighting to 12/12, got to find the males and kill them for more room under the lights!
