Need seeds for next season, would this idea be good?

Greets to all on ICM! Been lerking and learning for a long time. Planted 9 cloned ladies this season, 2 Nirvana White Widow and 7 Nirvana Big Bud. The summer was a total wash this year, I think we had 10 dry days and maybe 5 days in the 80's! Had to chop early because of all the frost and rain so the ladies didn't get the time they needed to be totally ready, and I only got a pound and a half cured.

I'd like to try a little experiment this winter and I'd like to know if anyone has any feedback on my idea. I'm germing 10 seeds, 6 Rom 13 from Greens (got them as freebies a couple of years ago) and 4 Nirvana AK48's. I plan on putting them under 12/12 as soon as they pop. When I can sort the males from the females I plan on taking the 2 fastest flowering females and hitting them with colloidal silver and make some female seeds from just the 2 fastest. These seeds will be for next years outdoor show. Stupid idea? Good idea? Waste of time?

Well if summers are always like this aand if you always have to cope with mold and rain i would suggest earlier more mold resistant strains.

No use trying big bud ww and ak if you live in a humid cold climate.

Look for better outdoor genetics like esbe's stuff frisian dew and guerillia gold or manitoba meds from greens

I was planning on going ahead anyway . I was wondering of any pitfalls or concerns from people who have done this. I'll try to remember to let you know!

Summers are not always like this! It was a freekish summer here. In my part of town they usually cut hay 2-3 times a season, this year they had only one cut. Nothing grew. Corn was only 2-3 feet high in places. My veg garden didn't produce anything. It's usually nice up until late Oct early Nov.

I've tried GG (got the ROM 13 as a freebie) and all but one seed was a male . The best, fastest, and highest yeilder I've grown was Nigerian Nightmare, it was a nice smoke too. I've tried to find more of these seeds but it seems like no one breeds it anymore

I understand you problem with mold. Growing on the 42 Lat. I have always had to pull by the 15th of Oct. the latest. I really like growing Rox she is finished by sept 15th. very mold resisent very fat and dense flowers. she's not the biggest of yeilders but will not disapoint you even in the wettest of years. I have since crossed her with another yummy strain Recon. They seem to be a match made in heaven. Looking to grow out my f2's here in a few weeks. Since it is my spring here.

I like your thinking process but consider making standard/nonfems also. Fast Pine tried making some fems the same way and hard poor results on his first attempt. Not saying not to do it exactly the opposite but have a plan B also. I like fem seeds also but for me anyway it’s just easier to use standard seeds with 2 plants per hole. Some holes contain 2 females and some two males but in the end I get 85% of my holes contain a female.

Depending on your soil and weather conditions it’s a fairly easy method. If I was in an arid area where I had to water a lot or every hole needed soil to be brought in this method has its draw backs.

makin cs and it actually working are 2 very different things. lots of newbs here talk like its a cinch, but none of them have ever done it. the ones who have tried, arent so confident make seeds with your males first so you have lots of beans to fiddle with.

My plan B. Every Christmas I give myself a present of seeds I never use them all. So I have plenty of seeds to fall back on. Every plant I sow is a clone from a known female. 2 months before planting I pop some seeds I want, then clone them, and put the rooted clones under 12/12 to sex them. By the time I plant I have a bunch of cloned female plants to sow. All I have to worry about is the damn deer, skunks, raccoons, mice, snails, beetles, insects, bears, weather,etc...

I was thinking that putting the little ones under 12/12 might stress them enough to show what plants are prone to hermie? I'm gonna try to look up Fast Pines post and see what he did. Is he still around? I haven't seen a post from him in a long time.

Some1here and Hamstring, find Rox paradise seeds. www.pardise-seeds.com The Rox cross (JF) I am working with does wonders in trees as well. Earlier this year I had National Gaurds w/ state troopers fly chopers over and find plants in my back yard. They spent well over an hour shearching the property for more plants but never found a single one growing in the trees.

Hi Some1here, my advice is if you have problems with mould try some strain with Haze inside. This year I grow new strain from Mr. Nice, National Health Service. This strain has 25% Haze inside. I harvested them 31.10.2009, have several phenotypes, resistance to mould was very good, yield too.
Maybe you should try some clones next time, cos they finishing earlier than plants from seeds.
May I ask you on what latitude you growing?

Yeah super silver haze usually is one around first to mid oct and is pretty mold resistant.

try some of bogs gear, his bogglegum is mold resistant and is done by mid to end sept

as far as your experiment with the female seeds, I always have been against female seeds but like the above posts say why the heck not try it...something to do in the winter

Rox caught my eye about a year ago when I heard/ read that it has some strawberry smell to it. You found any plants that lean that way SB?

OK Peeps I never said anything about mold being a problem, lol! I said this summer sucked because of way to much rain and lower temps than usual. Plus a very early frost. My plants were dieing so I had to chop early. If it was a usual summer they would have finished fine.

My Lat is 42 East Coast USA. The plants I grow... First I clone only one of each, then sex them, clone the females, and then plant the clones. I grew the Nigerian Nightmare just like I always do. Clone, sex, clone, plant. I had them under 24 hours of light and then started decreasing the light until it matched the real world light. Then I took them and planted them outside. They grew pretty big and bushy and were done the begining/middle of Sept. I should have made seeds of this plant but didn't
