I need a good soil and a place to buy it. also i would like to know what exactly to mix in the soil and where to buy it. please use specific brand names. i know to mix perlite, etc. and that doesn't need a "brand name" but drop some names where it counts, especially the soil. I dont want "potting mix" i just want good ol' dirt, and do the rest myself.

I heard supersoil is good but i don't know where to buy.
thanks for reading.

You need to find a decent local garden center, or a local hydro shop. Or bite the bullet and drive an hour if you have to.

Honestly, spend some time looking around the Organic Soil forums.

Everything you ask is answered in detail there. Step by step.

To start you off:

BTW, Promix is a soil blend as well as Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Both from different vendors, you'll still need to add food.

Supersoil?? That's funny. That happens to be the stuff I use. I have not heard it mentioned before in here. Some people would simply pass it off as crap. It is said that using soils with bark matter in them is bad. I have not had any problems with the soil. I also add perlite to my mix. So many soils to choose from, it can be tough to choose. If nothing else, don't let the lack of enthusiasm for this soil deter you. It may not be the best out there, but it works. It says that it consists of forest products including fir bark, redwood, Canadian sphagnum peat moss and clean sand with a PH range of 5.5 to 6.5. N-.014%, P-.09% and K-.02%. Most nurseries I have been in carry it. Wal-Mart does as well.

elevate, I'm quoting a post from my thread about soil mixture. Check out my gallery and see if these results are acceptable for you :)wink:).

By the way, you can get the chunky perlite in 2 cubic ft. bags from garden centers (or, of course, a hydro shop), and all other soil ingredients are available at WalMart!

For 2 cubic feet of soil (I get the stuff in the big orange bag from Wally World)
4.5 gallons of chunky perlite
3 cups bone meal
3 cups blood meal
3/4 cup lime
***Very important to mix well. With this amount, you may want to cut the amt in 1/2 and mix seperately...

As for nutes, I kick start 12/12 with FoxFarm Big Bloom @ 1/2 cup per gallon. For the rest of 12/12, I use EJ Bloom until 2 weeks b4 they're done, then use EJ Catalyst. (For all nutes, I'm only applying once weekly, othewise it's 6.3 water).

Ah, what the hell, I'll give you a glimpse...I hope you don't mind me posting a pic in your thread..

From what I have read, I would have to say I agree with the Major. I plan on trying a different soil for the clones when I transplant. Supersoil worked for me this time cause it's cheap and basically....cause it's CMEMORY
